Good video, as usual. I have to say that the backroom deals that Sena makes with top helmet makers is not making me happy. It socks to be "forced" to use a given comm system. I'm a Cardo guy, and I'm not looking forward to installing my freecom on my new Neotec 2. If Sena wants to gain market share, all they have to do, is make better products instead of making deals with helmet makers.
@wraymogg Жыл бұрын
What are you talking about?? It's all about the openness to mould different casings for integrated systems. Cardo didn't wanted to go that route. However they realized they are losing a lot of market share not going for integrated systems so they decided to do exactly as Sena did. So they made a "backroom deal" with AGV, and their Tourmodular features an integrated Cardo. Also they DO make better products in time, their Harman Kardon speakers and mike is at parity now with the JBL speakers found in Cardo. I do own a Cardo Black and until now it had hands down the better sound quality, but now they are pretty tied on tech and sound quality.

Oh dear, the sena v’s cardo argument again. Cardo have just the same opportunity to market theirs but honestly? Most people don’t care because both work fine and there are equal numbers of people preferring sena to cardo. The real shame here is that they are not inter compatible so people pick what their friends use. In my case that was a sena based system which works just fine. Both company’s systems are grossly overpriced.

I use a light smoke (50% tint) visor on my c3 pro all year around. It just takes the edge of, like a car windshield. But schuberth doesn't make them for the C5, real shame. Every helmet should come with light tint, car manufacturers figured this out decades ago.

I'm one of those oddball guys that prefers a dark external visor and clear inside visor. Reason why is I do most of my riding in the day and if and when it gets dark outside I ride with my external visor up and my clear inside visor down. Sadly, Shuberth doesn't make a clear inside visor for the C5 (yet) so I'll have to carry a pair of clear safety glasses with me just in case.

The C5 looks bigger than the Neotech 2. Can you use a Cardo Packtalk bold commutator with these helmets?
@wraymogg Жыл бұрын
I guess the noise you get is different from person to person based on riding position and height, head shape, type of motorcycle etc. I do own both a Neotec 2 and a C4 Pro Carbon, and the noise difference is HUGE in favor of C4. Just today I rode with the Neotec 2 to check if the sound insulation I applied had any effect (I put some soundproofing membrane from Focal under speakers and around them). Nothing changed! I cannot believe how much noise I get in the Neotec 2 in the ears and temple part of the helmet... Perhaps is my riding position, I don't know... but on C4 I get so much less noise and I even didn't insulated it with Focal membrane... Another HUGE discontent I have with the Neotec 2 is that when I open the front vent, it concentrates all the air directly on my forehead. Is like the Chinese droplet :)
@hiddendragon415 Жыл бұрын
I found the C4 noisy likely because it's more round and I got noise coming in up the sides. I agree with the front vent on the Neotec 2 blasting too much air directly onto your face. If they fixed that and made the helmet lighter with maybe carbon in the next version it would be nice. I was considering a HJC RPHA 90 but quality control is a issue.
@wraymogg Жыл бұрын
@@hiddendragon415 C4 is less noisy than Neotec 2. The collar is not segmented and lets in less air. In the last month I used mostly the Neotec 2 and it always puzzles me how much noise I get. However, worn like a true touring helmet, with good balaclava and ear plugs, it is OK. Also I fixed both worse problems with sponges. I opened the top vent and put some sponge there - no more bugs entering the helmet. Also I put a little sponge in the chin vent as well, it still concentrates a lot of cold air on my forehead, but is way better than before. Also I found that if I don't close perfectly the visor, the air dinamyc changes and at lower speeds I do that.
@wraymogg Жыл бұрын
@@hiddendragon415 If your head shape is more oval, then perhaps you get more noise in C4, and Neotec 2 or C5 is a better helmet for you. I also put the SRL Mesh on the Neotec 2, removing the external Cardo. It improved it immensely.

C3pro in larger XL shell (essential) is much quieter then Neotec2 XL. I have both. Also neotec2 leaks cold breeze all over the place. C3pro locks you in your own space. @mastadriver2 жыл бұрын
I've got both. GS rider. Done 20k+ miles in neotec 2 and replaced it with C5 (2k in that so far). They are both very good helmets, get one that fits you better. If you're concerned about comms system then C5's version of sena is much better, much more modern unit that the one that you can fit to Shoei. Schuberth also has much better aerodynamics and stability at speeds. The only issues with Neotec 2 I've got were with visor not seating/sealing properly which resulted in a much higher noise levels than you'd expect from the "quietest" modular helmet at the time, but I wear earplugs most of the time. Ironically I've visor issues with C5 as well in that it doesn't close fully on both side latches unless you use both hands which obviously is very impractical while riding. Currently waiting for dealer to take a look and service the helmet. Either way I think you won't be disappointed with neither of these two, I'd still keep wearing my neotec 2.

@@mastadriver I have the same issue with my C5. Left side most always stays a bit open when I close the visor. I pinch the left tab and the bottom of the chin guard and it closes fine with one hand. I was wondering if this was a design feature for venting on cold days to reduce fogging at slower speeds? Ride behind a R1200RTW screen so air turbulence isn't much of an issue, but with screen lowered, it is very stable in direct wind and reasonably quiet.

Thanks for this video and information.Did I understand you correctly that you sent it back to Shoei and they installed the d rings? This is very important to me because the Neotec 2 chin strap chokes me when I wear it because the chin strap is too short, and I didn't buy it because of that. If they will either make the ratchet starp an inch longer or install d rings with the normal strap that I have on my neotec 1 I will buy the neotec 2 immediately.

Interesting observation. Who's implying that nobody knows this? It is indeed clearly marked. The same also counts for dark and coloured visors. However, Pinlocks do much more good than bad - and I can't imagine anybody removing the Pinlock before riding in the dark. It would drastically reduce the lifespan and effectiveness of the lens.

@@FortaMoto "nobody" as in me observing and working with helmtes for more than 15 years - look into how you classifie visors regarding distorsion. Grade 1 - 99% distorsion free (what you see is what you see) When you add a second layer the graiding falls, but still legal. If you start out with a grade 2 visor and add a layer, your grading falls again below what is legal for ECE22.05. If you as mee, uses glasses, you can clearly see the diffence when riding in the dusk/dawn. Ever thought about some helmets come with Pinlock in the box and not mounted as new ? And yes I have several helmets inluding a NeoTech2. A little sidenote- in the very nice video you say that Shoei can pass ECE22.06 - I agree somewhere along the road. Youir chinpart needs to be locked with a mechanical lock to pass, but I am sure its an "easy" fix - keep posting viseos to enjoy
