Yeah it is, I swear they were around $60 CAD back then people used to sell them with games for more too. I saw someone on Facebook recently selling them for $150 I just laughed in my mind like Good Luck as Amazon has them preloaded for $35 😂

I honestly was not aware of the different versions of that card until today. I think this is always going to be the best experience when playing DS games ( dual screen, and touch).

What % of people do you think prefer: MULTIPLE original hardwares + hardware-specific emulation solutions like this, vs. ONE new hardware capable of emulating anything?

I think it's a mix. In cases like the DS, nothing is like playing DS games on the DS. Maybe we'll get to a point where there is a better than DS, but as the Aya Neo slide has shown that's expensive and the software is not there yet. Where as for a lot of 4:3 systems on the same hardware doesn't necessarily degrade the experience, while offering great convenience. So combine for best experience with some systems, but having ideal hardware for systems has a definite appeal. Those who are about Nostalgia, definitely seem to favor original or very faithful to original hardware. Like Russ of RGC latest video about preferring a GBC remake over analog pocket, due to the GBC form factor without the draw backs of his modded GBC.

@@washuai Exactly, if the console is easy to emulate on PC without compromises, I'm fine with emulation. However like you said, what device are you going to emulate DS games on? I see no way of emulating the DS without compromises. The cost of the Aya Neo is a compromise for me. I see no point in playing GB/GBC/GBA on legit hardware. I prefer to play those on my Ps Vita since it has an AMOLED screen.

I found this out the hard way a few years ago when I ordered the Real time save one with a timebomb :( I then bought the cheaper smart update card and have been using the wood kernal ever since (probably could use an update). I have had the real time save card sitting in a drawer this whole time because I could never get any firmware to boot on it. I used your video the other day and got twilight working which is great. I heard you mention the YS menu works on the RTS card? I tried years ago and couldn't get this to work, I heard you mention its possible did I hear you incorrectly? I find twilight pretty slow to boot up and then start a game.

I use TWilight Menu only, YSMENU is gross to me and only works on the Smart Update card NOT Real Time Save cards not sure why but it just doesn't. I don't know why anyone suggests YSMENU but it truly isn't the best way in my opinion but someone on my Discord always suggests it when new gamers pop in asking how to setup their R4 lol. The time bomb now though doesn't exist either, I found a custom original RTS firmware that removed it completely. Not sure why companies keep using it when it literally has been bi-passed for years and at this point is a complete scam.

I've had one of those real time save cards since 2018 (i'm only just now learning it could have done save states...) but it can run BW2 just fine. I guess it's because twilight menu?

Yes TWilight Menu does help with the Real Time Save R4 card. The main reason I recommend the Smart Update cards is because the default kernel has more compatibility.

Which one provides more battery life? I was thinking of getting an Acekard2i simply becuase the battery of my smart update card is not great. And I saw tests that the Acekard had less pwer consumption.

Well this depends on the battery you have because if you have an old battery from the day the DS Lite released the battery life will differ. I personally can't test this with any specific battery on the DS/DS Lite due to this factor and other variations like games you play, screen brightness, and more. I still recommend the Smart Update card no matter what.

Well damn, I jsut got my real time save r4 card and when I opened the file, there were files already there, the entire thing says it was created in 1980. I'm not sure what to do with this. Thers also no space on the micro SD card, idk what to even do

Thanks! Hey - if you don't have a video that shows how to set Twilight Menu ++ to play a game in DS mode, that would be great. A lot of the hacks won't play unless you (on my card in TM++) hit 'y' on the game in the list and then select Game Loader 'nds-bootstrap' rather than using 'Default' there. Took me a lot of time to figure out.

Hey I'm trying to get gba game data onto a SD card but I can't find the card to buy. I watched the vids fully and am wanting to use the 2024 dual core smart update (not the RTS) Card. But I can't find any online that perfectly match the card in the videos/how-to on discord. I don't really understand what you're asking? You are trying to play GBA games? If so the best bet is to get the Smart Update card, load it with TWilight Menu as I have guides for this as well.

I also have an R4i Revolution RTS card. I run the stock firmware that supports RTS like you showed, but if you drop the YSMenu.nds into your games folder you can chain-load into YSMenu and boot Black/White 2 just fine. I've been trying to find a version of Wood that will work on this card but no luck.

Gold doesn't matter so as long as it's not the fake Real Time Save card that says .hk on it. Regarding your question I have a playlist that shows how to setup your RTS card plus shows how to upgrade it to TWilight Menu as more than likely your card won't come with the kernel.

Hey hacked emulation games like GBA for example don't appear to work many others including myself have tested this. DS games however if they're legit, do work mind you I've only tested a couple including Newer Super Mario Bros DS.

Game saves are stored on the SD card inside the R4 card. The save as .sav or .sav.nds format depending on what you choose. By default the are .sav typically.

No there isn't any good rts cards out there they all have same issues with using save states.

Technically if you don't have a DS/DSL then no the R4 card isn't really needed if you want to hack your DSi or 3DS series console.

The RTS card on Stock won't play Black 2 you have to use TWilight Menu or YSMENU where the Smart Update card will play a lot of DS/DSi enhanced games without question.

Don't bother save states are terrible on the RTS cards and not worth it with how many corrupt saves you'll encounter.

ok, since you didn't answer me again, I found the answer, I'm leaving it here in case it helps someone, after having done a little research, I found forums talking about this, Runner2 has been shit since the day it came out, it was improving, but today some games still do not play correctly, among them, pokemon fire red, the music is not synchronized and there are some more errors that people have found, if they don't fix it, we can't do anything, the case is that a man, on reddit, said that he would be able to fix the program, after trying he made it clear that this was impossible, and that GBARunner2 will never be able to play all the games perfectly.
