Have you ever had your gait analysed?

What a shock that all the shoes shown were ON. This video should have a big "sponsored" label on it

On is an incredible brand though 😂. But I do agree it should state that the video is sponsored

And by miracle the recommended pair of shoes based on a in-depth gait analysis fall perfectly into the brand that is actually sponsoring GTN. Come on guys, you can do better than that!

One thing I have heard everywhere - ON running shoes are absolute shite. Great marketing. But horrible shoes. (Just got back from a run analysis last week… testing a number if shoes)

I gave a chance to ON Cloudflow (thanks to GTN), but they are like bricks compared to HOKA. Noisy, hard, wobbly when landing, very sensitive to lacing strength. They'll be good for moving the lawn though.

100% This video should have a big "sponsored" badge on it. It's funny how every other shoe-tuber aren't fans of ON but these guys ALL wear them all the time.

@James Williams my experience was that after a couple of hundred miles those little perforations down the side split like a postage stamp and they basically fell to bits. I got a free replacement pair and it happened again. I quite like them as running shoes - good fit, no blisters, etc, but they aren't robust enough for trail running.

If there wasn’t editing available we would see when they asked the store fellow: “ mind you that we have a partnership with Cloud shoes, so recommend us those if anything “

True for the purposes of the video, but since they weren't actually recommending models, I think it served fine as a demonstration...neutral shoe for the analysis and then the branded shoe model that fits the analysis. If any viewer gets the analysis, it'll be brand neutral (unless the shop has a partnership, which may not be as obvious as GTN).

When I was first getting into running I had a gait analysis done, I was put into a pair of stability shoes. I immediately had problems with them so went back to the shop & they changed them for another brand. Fast forward a few years & after increasing my mileage etc I picked up a few injuries, I had physio & was recommended to go see a podiatrist. So off I went, the podiatrist examined my feet & did my gait again. I was told that the original gait analysis was wrong & that I should not be running in stability shoes but neutral shoes, she told me that she hates gait analysis in running shoe shops as they nearly always get it wrong & every time she treats runners for issues it's because they have been put in wrong shoes. I've since been running in Asics gel nimbus, done about 250 miles with no further issues or treatment

I'm actually going to do this (a gait analysis) over the weekend to help me decide on a new pair of shoes as I start to up my mileage and train for a half-marathon.

Love these videos! I have those same black and white on's and I think they feel great overall. I had my feet scanned through a place called fleet feet and they suggested more support and the on's were one of the shoes they had me try. I have only been running what I call long distance for two months as I am a new runner. I ran 11 miles this morning in 1:40 minutes which I feel is really good for being new and also a smoker. I am constantly improving and trying to kick the cigarettes for sure. Keep up the awesome videos!

I love my shoes! I have actually named them “Heather”. Whenever I want to go for a run I ask the family, “has anyone seen my heathers?” 🤣🤣🤣 Jokes aside, I’m excited to take my son and get his running analyzed. He’s gotten into cross country recently, and I finally have a running partner!

I had an idea the other day. I used to figure skate and play hockey. In those sports when you get new skates they put them on you and have you stick your feet in this big machine that heats them up and compresses them to your feet to mold them to your foot shape. I’m wondering, could this be done with running shoes as well to help with the break in process? Just an idea I was curious about

Bont do cycling shoes that go into the oven to heat up and then mold to your feet so certainly an option

I had a gait analysis when I bought my first proper pair of running shoes. I only found it to be semi useful. It wasn't on a treadmill but on 15m of track in the store. That isn't the surface I normally run on and it's obviously very short. I haven't had the chance to test it but I think my gait might looks a bit different towards the end of a long hard run. I mean if all I wanted to run is a few seconds at easy pace I wouldn't need running shoes.

Since every shoe is build differently and there's not yet a standard to set and rely on.. i was actually struggling with my running shoes.. but i have found that Reebok's shoes are almost perfect for my foot.. and Adidas is just straight bad for me.. they're line up is not well consistent.. but the thumb witdh rule or maybe pinky witdh at the end of ur front part of the shoe is A MUST..

Well to be fair, you'd be awkward in an unknown pair of shoes for a while. If you wear heavily supported trainers and suddenly opt in for a pair of basic no support ones you WILL show lots of weird things when running. You need to adapt first imo

60-70% of runners pronate?? How about almost 100% - unless someone has foot issues going on - they should be pronating a little...it's the body's shock absorption mechanism.

Pronation is normal. According to the Cleveland Clinic, 95% of the population OVER-pronates. And pronation of about 15 degrees is a normal movement of the foot while running. Why is this gentleman trying to correct what is considered a normal foot motion? Virtually everybody's feet pronate.

You don't need running shoes. I've been running in shoes provided by a running analysis and have been running from injury to injury. Now I have been training barefoot style for 1 year and better yet injury free. Speed and endurance have seen a massive boost as well. Don't get sold on the marketing of these companies, you have everything you need to run since birth.
