Quick tip for easily cleaning and reusing strips. I just have a big bowl next to me while I sugar wax. When I'm done with a strip I put it in the bowl. When I'm done sugaring I fill the bowl with boiling water from my kettle. I let it sit overnight and the next day the sugar is 100% dissolved. I drain it, rinse it, add boiling water one more time, let it sit a few more minutes, then it's clean. There might be some hair in the fabric so I'll throw it in the washer with my other clothes, but it gets rid of 100% of the sugar VERY easily, it's SO low effort and no sugar is left behind at all, no sticky residue. This is just 1 more reason I'm never going back to normal wax.. I can make this shit at home, use fabric strips, and wash it out super easy. Sugaring may have a learning curve but once you figure it out it's SO fucking convenient!!! And the strip method is so beginner friendly! Just smear on a little sugar, add fabric, hold your skin, and pull it off! Way less likely to get stuck in the hair if I wimped out, and easier to pull it at the right angle! No more sticky fingers if it gets super warm!

As for post care, make sure your family are following regular protocol. no excessive sweating or heat aka no saunas, hot showers or bathas, or excercise for 24hrs. and then an additional step for the face especially is no actives: no retinols, chemical exfoliators, and only use gentle and soothing ingredients. tell them to keep a super basic routine, fragrance free, for the first day or two.

A note for y'all when testing the temp of your sugar: Be careful, have cold water ready!!! Hot sugar can burn you BAD. Even if it's just a little too hot, a tiny amount can hurt and it will stick to your skin and burn you. A little cold water will cool it down instantly and prevent any actual burns. Seriously, even if you think it's not too hot it's better safe than sorry, I just do it at the sink with cold water ready to go. And, obviously, be very careful when you touch it. Start with a finger, just BARELY touch it. The finger hurts less and its easier to control compared to your wrist. If it doesn't hurt your finger then try your wrist to confirm that it's a comfortable temperature. Again.. have cold water ready. You can also just get a wax warmer which will keep the wax at a consistent temperature. If you use the microwave please mix it well so there arent any hot spots.

If you use a glove in your hand it helps so that the wax doesn’t get sticky therefore you can work it without having to worry about that and you can flick it right off as many times you need. 😊
@abetweene4 ай бұрын
it will still become sticky as kneading traps in air pockets and the warmth of your body melts it. i also prefer not to create more waste by using gloves.
@evakilautner59834 ай бұрын
@@abetweene Of course and that’s acceptable not to want to create waste.. but with my knowledge as a beautician when you properly prepare your skin by using powder on the body to remove the extra moisture then the warmth of your body is not enough to melt the wax in a state that you cannot work it… This on the other hand happens with our hands when we use the wax without gloves because we transfer the moisture and the grease from our sweat in the ball and make it sticky in a point that we cannot work with it. With a single ball of wax you can for instance do both of your legs and as it’s obvious when it’s full of hair of course you will have to get a new ball and start a new area. And I know that because at the begging of my journey with sugaring on my body for practice I didn’t use gloves and had the same problem but now I use one ball for both of my legs.
@abetweene4 ай бұрын
my hand is also powdered, but our bodies are 98.6 degrees and the sugar if used at room temp is roughly 72, so powder cant change the rise temperature when applied to the skin. nonetheless even if the sugar is warmed to body temp to start, the application and removal process causes friction generating more heat. its physics
@evakilautner59834 ай бұрын
@@abetweene No one suggested that the consistency of the sugar will stay the same while we work with it of course. I know how sugaring works and I’m being pretty clear at my comment about what I mean and why we have to prep our body right.. the matter I was referring to at the first place with the comment about the glove was the one thing that you point at your video about flickering the sugar off your body..and from experience with it, however, melted the sugar gets (as it should be) by working with it you can still flick it off when you’re wearing a glove and not with your bare hand, which cause the wax to stick after a few times and not being able to remove it from your body. If you watch other tutorials of professionals, waxing with sugar, you’ll see that they use gloves (even on themselves) and that’s the reason. I’m not demanding for someone who doesn’t want to do it ,to try it, but if you haven’t tried it to know what I’m talking about you shouldn’t be so absolute about what you’re suggesting.
@abetweene4 ай бұрын
your comments stated “If you use a glove in your hand it helps so that the wax doesn't get sticky” and “when you properly prepare your skin by using powder on the body to remove the extra moisture then the warmth of your body is not enough to melt the wax in a state that you cannot work it” so you did suggest that, which prompted my response(s) for further clarification as viewers rely on this information and my hope is not to mislead or cause confusion. I dont know what a person means to imply, I can only rely on what they say. Im not challenging that gloves would help remove aerated sugar nor did i- it does, but the reason for that is because youre using latex, nitrile, or other materials to which the sugar can attach, and not because they prevent softening or stickiness as you implied.

Its most likely means that some of your hair is breaking off instead of coming out with the root. personally I’ve found it to be due to removing the hair in a pattern other than its direction of growth. or sometimes the hair is just so brittle/dry and the root is so stubborn that it snaps. so feel free to experiment with the angles that you’re using.

no, it’s nothing to do with the lemon. since its sugar its not uncommon for it to leave behind a bit of residue but if you’re saying it’s too thin/watery then that just means it’s undercooked. tugging on the hair just means that it’s sticky which it should be. it may help to trim the hair a bit if it’s very long or just use it slightly warm so it’s not so stiff.

@abetweene2 жыл бұрын
ok, sometimes they can still occur particularly if the hair is curly or coarse, but also sometimes its like our skincare, and we need to try different products until we find a good match. personally I recommend glycolic acid for the bikini area in cases like this and the flamingo treatment you have currently doesnt contain that ingredient. One AHA they both use is lactic acid, which is good but pretty mild. the PFB has glycolic, but its low on the ingredients list which means the concentration may also be low. a majority of the formula is also isopropyl alcohol, and that can have an adverse effect by drying out the skin and causing irritation. but again if the type of ingrown u have is due to the pattern of regrowth curling up or having difficulty penetrating the skin, AHAs can sometimes only do so much. manual exfoliation can help sometimes even if it’s just a cloth instead of a scrub (that way it doesn’t become too irritating and cause more ingrowns) or if you have a tub, Id highly recommend warm baths. do you mind my asking what type of ingrown you get (whiteheads, pustules, or hair u can see stuck under the skin)?
@cinnamon12002 жыл бұрын
@@abetweene firstly I want to say I’m so thankful for you and your replies. I’ll definitely look out for glycolic acid and the concentration in products. The ingrowns I have are hairs that I can see growing under the skin and sometimes I have pustules. Right now, they’re a bit manageable with the sugar scrub by shea moisture. So I can see the hairs peaking out and I just slide them out from under the skin. But I still get ingrowns regardless and the marks they leave are ridiculous looking

most of the time it can be fixed, but reslly depends how overcooked it is. if ots rock hard, smells burnt and is very dark, then I would recommend starting over. if its solid like a lollipop, but not burnt, you can reheat and add a small amount of water to make the consistency softer again. for reference, if the sugar is ever runny after letting it cool it just means that it’s undercooked so no need to add more ingredients, just keep cooking.

I don't get this 😕 thank you for your videos 🖤
@abetweene2 жыл бұрын
Right; this is about the sugar being soft, firm, or hard. They all respond a little different to temperature. the type of sugar you start with will vary in concentration (the amount of liquid left behind after cooking) which makes them softer or harder. Therefore if youre sugaring in the dead of winter vs summer, that changes which one you would choose and whether you may want/need to warm it. This video explains it in detail kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoK2nGSKZbuJm5I this video just outlines the differences between using the flicking method and using strips to help you decide which you may prefer for yourself.

If it’s getting runny, it’s in part due to your climate but also it sounds like your sugar is still softer than what you need. so next time you make a batch cook it to an even firmer consistency.

Hello, just was wondering , in school when they teach us the strip method they use spread the paste in direction of hair grows. Did they teach us wrong?
@abetweene2 жыл бұрын
no they didnt. That technique is correct when using wax. with sugar, the technique is opposite because it works a bit differently.
@Irisha197312 жыл бұрын
@@abetweene yes we learned sugaring. The spatula method going the same way as a spreading method? I am confused 🫤

I highly recommend removing the hair with the direction of growth. there are some who prefer the opposite, so feel free to do what works best for you.

Curious if anyone has tried to let a ball that got all goey and unusable to recool by being in front of a fan or something and let it harden and if it was useable again for that Same session? Or once it gets to the gooey point is it done?
@abetweene2 жыл бұрын
yes you can let it recool and change your ambient temperature by sitting in front of a fan or A/C. it does work in some cases, except when the ball is just too full of hair. and remember you can also just add a fresh piece to the ball (in case you don’t wanna lose your momentum and keep going without resting it)

@@abetweene I tried it but it didn't work. I have no idea what went wrong. I heated my sugar wax to 245, kneaded it (it never turned opaque, just became a translucent lighter yellow) and let it cool. I put it on my leg and when I pulled the wax strip off after placing it on my skin very firmly, there was no resistance and it took off no hair. Do you have any idea what I could've done wrong? I really want to get this right. You provide so many great resources so I feel crazy for not getting this right.
@abetweene2 жыл бұрын
kneading isnt necessary (i only used it for hard sugar which i technically didnt need). if you live at sea level, 245° generally produces a soft to firm sugar so thru that kneading process, the added water likely made it too soft weakening the grip. if youre starting off with less than a 1/4” of growth that can also be a cause for no results too.
@abetweene2 жыл бұрын
if you want, you can just re-heat your mixture to burn off that excess water and make it firmer.
