Shoot yeah if I had to buy a newer truck I'd buy a 4th gen 3/4 ton dodge. But I would rather my 2nd gen 3/4 ton truck whether it's a 12v or gas even a 24v. But yeah I really do like 4th gens.

I honestly think if you have the money to afford the 5th gen it’s a better option, but if you don’t and want a slightly new vehicle I think the 4th gen is a great alternative. Though The 5th gens features are unmatched!

You really hit the truth a person just has to decide money wise what you can afford having a warranty is a great peace of mind now a days that is my concern. Currently have a 2020 crew cab Ram 1500 bighorn and looking for a 2020 or 2021 new Laramie edition just looking for the best deal and all brands cure hard to find new and used are going for premium prices

Love my 2nd gen and I’ve got 283,000. And only run Valvoline Premium Blue 15w-40 and its still clean after 5,000 mile changes. But I only use Baldwin fuel and oil filters? But if I get a new truck I’d try Shell. My only reservation with the 4th gen is the CP4 pump the 5th gen went back to the CP3 better reliability for sure.

I've been running T5 every since 2010 in my 18 wheelers and f250. I love shell engine oil. It helps out big time on cold weather cold starts. The knocking clatter goes away immediately

With my 4th gen 1500 being the newest and a 2nd gen 2500 being the oldest I would like to trade the 4th gen 1500 4x4 off for a 2500 Cummins 4x4 I don't have to have a Laramie a work truck like your buddy's Mike's truck would work best for me. My god 75k for a truck is ridiculous. I’ve been driving my $2,500 Chevy for years and it does whatever I need. Save that money and put it into your house if you must spend it. At least your house appreciates every year if up-kept.

Honestly I wouldn’t care which one I would get. The 4th gen and 5th gens are great trucks. They both have mostly the same features except the front and rear ends. The Cummins badge is smaller on the 5th gen. Some people say that they don’t like the 5th gen 2500 and 3500’s because they don’t have the same body style as the 5th gen 1500s. Honestly people expected the heavy duties to look like the 1500’s. Since the 4th gen 2500s looked like the 4th gen 1500.

Schaeffer’s in my opinion is def better then Rotella. Not something you’ll find at your local auto parts store but it’s worth the extra coin. Also in my opinion the best USED diesel money can buy is a 14 up 6.7 power stroke hands down! Power, reliability, and transmission are just flawless. Typically a little more expensive then a similar year Cummins but the way I look at is you’re putting a trans in a dodge at some point.

I may be the only one but I consider “5th gen” still a 4th gen since the body and the bed is the same. All that changed was front clip and interior. Just like the early 3rd and late 3rd they have same body just a front clip change and minor interior. Am I the only one?

I agree I consider the “5th gen” more of a face lifted 4th gen. As you said 3rd gens had a face lift in 2006 and second gens got an updated interior in 98 and first gens also had a small face lift at some point.

Look, when I was your age a nineteen sixty car never hit the market till late november. Now a new rig for next year will be out in august/september ..... and you see the flukes in that by the fact that magazines have next years rigs in them now and its only june for a week more but you read what they are now or sixth month of the year. What I am getting at is the 2022 will be out before the 21's are fixed and so they will never sell as new. The fake inflated price will go right along and they will make money for holding them.
