Hanif Khan in the USA, back in the 1920's, it was noticed by medical researchers that, US citizens were having many health issues because of the lack of iodine. problems with their thyroid, gouters, and even very low IQ's. so the US government made a law to add iodine to regular table salt. this eliminated peoples health problems because of the lack of iodine, and even improved the IQ's of the over all US population.

@@artbykristylalonde4165 This is why comprehensive science education is so important. "Dr." Berg is not a medical doctor he's a chiropractor. He cant really hold a candle to the Medical Doctor talking in this video in terms of who knows more about the body. Going to the Dr. Berg video: The amount of trace minerals he stated is vastly wrong. He made it up. There's much less. Even if he was telling the truth, those 84 trace minerals only make up 15% of the salt he mentioned. That means you get so little of each one it really doesn't do much. All salt can give you high blood pressure so he lied about sea salt there too. He mentions seasalt can help with "pH balancing". This is not true. Your body automatically balancs your pH at different levels for different things by itself (stomach acid vs blood vs spinal fluid etc). If it didn't, you'd just be dead. "Dr." Berg made this up.

Micro-plastics in the ocean are beyond dispute. Logically, ocean derived salt would carry some of these micro-plastics. Logically also, a dried up sea now underground would not contain micro-plastics because they were not invented at the time of formation of the dried up sea. But many salt-grinders use plastic mechanisms, and these too contribute abraded micro-plastics to our "diet". I prefer to use a mortar and pestle to grind up my salt - this is made of marble, which is mostly calcium carbonate and also of ancient origin, and does go into my diet in small amounts.

Most likely, if you're grinding the Himalayan salt vs the really tiny bits of table salt sized particles of salt, larger flakes don't taste as salty based on how the tongue deals with salt even if it is the same amount of salt. For example, I'm used to grinding salt like what you're doing (larger salt bits go onto food) vs when I bought Real Salt, which has much smaller grain size, and things got too salty, too fast even tho it was the same amount of salt I was used to.

Me, too. But I was still surprised that some prepared foods varied widely in the amount of sodium, and started choosing ones with less sodium. Also, I once found that a "low sodium" soy sauce had more sodium than another one that didn't make such claims. You've got to read the fine print on the back. pink salt the pink is actually the tiny almost microspopic agates with a coating of iron oxide. fine sand and other impuritiies. you can take a bunch of it and dissolve it warm water and cautiously pour off the top of the water after its settled and you do end up grit and pink sand in the bottom. and I dont mean a little I mean alot. our red sandstone of the southwest is pink and red for the same reason. its just dirty unrefined salt. I used iodized salt and pickling salt which is pure salt. I threw out my pink salt. Also salt can be used for eye wash or other things and the pink salt has that grit in it. you also have no control over various chemicals your getting. if you already eat somewhat healthy then use pink salt for a purist you now have lost control over whats going in your body. sea salt now is not what it was the past centuries. with pollution and mercury its very hard to be sure whats in sea salt or where it truly came from. when the water evaporates out in these flats you have everything from mercury to radioactivity and noxious pesticides and pcbs that werent around hundreds of years ago

Natural salts are way better than processed salts. Common table salts has been leached out of its minerals and should be troden underfoot by men. It simply lost its savor. Whereas natural salts contain minerals that are in the right proportion as the minerals found in our body. Not all salts were created equal, not all salts are just salt...

Here are the differences between ordinary table salt, sea salt, and Himalayan pink salt. -- Table Salt Ordinary table salt is heavily ground, and most of its trace minerals and impurities have been removed before it is packaged for store shelves. Anti-caking agents are also added to table salt so that it flows freely and does not clump together. Table salt is about 97% pure sodium chloride; and in many places, it also contains added iodine, since iodine deficiency can cause major health problems. Because it is so finely ground, table salt has a different texture in foods compared to more coarsely-ground salts, like sea salt and Himalayan pink salt. -- Sea Salt Sea salt is what’s left over after seawater evaporates. Sea salt is mostly sodium chloride, like table salt. However, its composition varies depending on the geographic region it comes from, and how it is processed. Typically, sea salt contains trace minerals including potassium, zinc, and iron. Unfortunately, sea salt may contain trace amounts of heavy metals like lead, as well as micro-plastics, depending on its source of origin. Choosing a trusted source for sea salt can help you avoid these impurities. Sea salt, since it is more coarsely ground than table salt, has a different feel in the mouth, and a slightly different flavor. -- Himalayan Pink Salt It’s pink because of trace amounts of iron oxide. Himalayan pink salt has trace amounts of iron oxide, which is what gives it its pale pink color. It is mined in Pakistan, and also contains small amounts of calcium, potassium, and magnesium. This means that it is slightly lower in sodium than table salt. For example, table salt is typically 97% to 99.9% sodium chloride, whereas Himalayan pink salt is only about 87% sodium chloride. Himalayan pink salt is believed to be composed of the dried remnants of an ancient, primal sea, the remains of which are located deep beneath the Himalayan mountains. It is used as a substitute for table salt, and also as a meat and fish preservative. New Thinking on Salt and Hypertension Salt has long been blamed for aggravating high blood pressure. However, new research is promoting skepticism about the link between salt and hypertension, and is showing that the relationship between the two is less clear-cut than once thought. ---------------------------- A recently-concluded, 16-year study by researchers at the Boston University School of Medicine expected a direct correlation between salt consumption and blood pressure. But they found that participants who consumed less than 2,500 milligrams of salt per day had higher blood pressure than those who consumed more than that. It was the opposite of what they expected! --------------------------------------------------------- Other recent studies have found that sugar consumption may have a greater effect on blood pressure than salt consumption does. Only recently in human history have people consumed the amounts of sugar that they do today, and the high levels of sugar consumption have correlated with higher rates of hypertension, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. In short, avoiding sugar is perhaps more important than avoiding salt. Your choice of salt depends on factors like taste, convenience, cost, and your desire for the presence of minerals other than sodium.

It's buffling for me how the most important difference is not mentioned and it's that regular salt is a refined product while Himalayan and real sea salt is not, having therefore all the minerals and elements in its natural state. Himalayan salt has moreover the great added advantage of not having micro plastics in its composition.

The only difference between taste is the electrical conductivity when dissolved, bigger chucks taste different because they dissolve slower than fine salt but it is more consecrated locally when it is dissolved. If you were to dissolve different salts in distilled water, then normalize their electrical conductivity (EC) and do a test... nobody in the world is going to taste any differences. Besides, Himalayan salt isn't even from the Himalayas... there isn't a salt mine anywhere in the Himalayas.

You trivialize the importance of which salt to use but with all due respect there IS a health benefit to using Iodized salt to non-iodized salts (ie.,sea salt, kosher or Himalayan). For those with thyroid conditions who need iodine, it is most beneficial for them to use iodized salt aka table salt. Thus the salt you choose DOES MATTER just ask those people with Thyroid conditions.
