Gravity Skech for hard surface, Medium for sculpt. I am not tunneled into this 'one is best' idea. Purely due to the fact that they all have parts missing! Medium doesn't allow me to place precise geometry - and Grav Sketch is really lacking when it comes to subtractive volumes and some other helpful tools. BUT WAIT! In this video I am introduced to Masterpeice VR (the guy seemed to be unsure of the actual name) - which seems capable of subtractive volumes as well as precision!! So now I answered your question - can you inform me of this ' MAsterpeice VR' and if there is any good reason NOT to use it instead of Gravity Sketch? It seems like a straight upgrade.....

@@deathorb as always my advice would be to go and try it as anyone you listen to will have their own requirments and needs. There is a version with rigging. And I’m sure you know I am never happy with a one-stop-solution for creation. Luckily now, none of these are stupid prices unless you dive into enterprise. Gravitysketch is about to go free and for now so is adobe medium.

Great video! There were a couple of interesting looking tools in there that I was not aware of. It's amazing how far that VR sculpting/design software has come in a few short years. Plus with the price so low the barrier to entry is nearly non-existent. Keep up the terrific content!

I wonder how far Shapelab, Kodon and Substance 3D Modeler would be on the list now, 3 years later? i mean Substance 3D is basically a better version of Medium now, isn't it?

Im so mad that Dreams is locked to the playstation. Its got literally everything one could want in a creation tool. And with skill, you can make actual masterpieces in hours... Im on the quest 2 and spend most of my time on virtual desktop or oculus link to do art and im like...my pc is strong enough, give us something more robustttt! I love Quill, which is my main program, and its got a ton of great functions. But i really dont think anything is touching Dreams right now, outside of the fact that you cant easily cross over to a PC 3D package with it. ALTHOUGH! I saw a video of someone doing a scan of their building in dreams and then importing that onto the PC so.....i mean...................... where is the downside?!

Yep. Also ShapeLabs, Google blocks and a few more. Personally I’m struggling to get Kodon to run at all on any machine. It looks like one of the best options on the market but I need to have it running first to find out lol.

@@SouthernGFX Been on the Kodon beta for a few weeks and it's painfully buggy. It's been in beta for 3 years now and so much basic functionality is missing/broken. Kodon looked so promising and with so much VR potential, but the devs have some grandiose and misguided priorities, such as cloth simulation, and future physic sims and animation......before they even have basic sculpting functionality working. This is all well and good, but their work rate/update output is very slow. It's a huge pity, because all the right tools are there in Kodon and it could be out on its own as the Nomad of VR. In its present state though, it's unusable.

@@musashidanmcgrath I keep trying but I haven’t yet managed to get it running. I’d like to find someone on the the beta team and not linked to the Kodon team to contribute to the second video in the series.

@@SouthernGFX I'd like to help out, mate. Been on Zbrush almost as long as you. With Kodon though, it would be more of an overview of the features and the potential that it has. As to your issue, It is a bit of a pain to run. I'm running it through steam and you have to run it with the headset tethered before you run SteamVR. Otherwise you get an error when you try to run it again and it's already open in processes.

I just found this app for 3D animation on iPad Pro: Lyan 3D- 3D Animation Tool. I was wondering if you could be able to make digital sculptures in Nomad Sculpt and then animate them in Lyan 3D?? I do not have an iPad to test this theory, but you might be able to. Hope this helps.

TVORI got my attention but the price is too high. 150 dollars for month! They have a free version but you can't import your own models on the free version, so, the only option is to pay 150 dollars for month or 125 dollars in the annual plan.

I disagree with a lot of the opinions here. It’s almost as if they tried Zbrush or other sculpting apps years ago, not recently. I guess if you’re only good at traditional modeling and just have some aversion to digital apps maybe this would seem completely different, but even an iPad app like Nomad is as simple as it gets. Of course modeling in true 3D space is an advancement, knowing exactly where your polys are, but watching the speed of some the artists, I can do similar things much, much faster on my iPad. Either way it’s definitely the direction we should be headed, but it’s way too clunky and limited right now.
