I met Kevin Nash and Shawn Michaels at a Motel 6 in Harrisonburg Virginia in the early 90s. I was 15 years old and working as a desk clerk. Both him and Kevin were actually really nice to me. They were very kind to our housekeepers and actually gave her a $50 tip each. They couldn't believe that I was working at 15 years old and they were super nice, even coming down to the desk to check on me.

When I was a kid I met Goldberg at an autograph signing at a Fiesta Supermarket in Houston during his first run in WWE. We had him sign the game manuals for WCW Mayhem, and Backstage Assault. He was awesome to us and even made small talk a bit. He told us a "fun fact" about how the Backstage Assault manual cover had his tattoo on the wrong arm. He talked to my little brother who was 6 or 7 at the time like he was the most important person when he shook his hand. I know Goldberg isn't the most talented or safe wrestler, but he treats his fans well.
@tafua_a3 ай бұрын
I get the feeling that Goldberg is a fundamentally good dude, but wrestling brings out the worst in him personally. Being a green guy in the WCW locker room and having snakes in your ears can turn you into a monster pretty quickly. He was manipulated by people who wanted to take advantage of him, he became a star when he wasn't prepared for it and still struggles to admit the consequences of the mistakes he made.
@TheGreatVivek73 ай бұрын
I had a similar experience with Goldberg. I was wearing my 2004 Christian peep T shirt during a fan interaction and he immediately recognised it and even guessed the year of the shirt. He said Christian (who was retired then) was one of the most underrated guys, and we continued talking about Christian for 2 whole minutes, while others were waiting. I remember thinking then how down to earth he was. I know people call Goldberg egoistic etc but that isn’t my memory of him.

I know which fiesta it is, I met him there too and he's a nice guy to fans, love him.
@notmokiplamo2 ай бұрын
After hearing Goldberg on CVV's podcast and how he made it a point to not leave any fans behind who wanted his time, and how he'd rather be late for a match than ruin some kid's day by not being accomodating, all those fan encounters like this one just mean so much more when you read them.

I don't understand why people jump to dog piling and passing the harshest judgments based on rumors and other people's isolated experiences. Certain people who've done certain things? It's understandable to resent them. But I can't stand this modern trend of "X was a jerk to Y and Z once upon a time so now we should all collectively hate and resent X forever." We may not condone or defend what they said or did, but it's disingenuous to say that our relationships with others somehow aren't primarily based on first-hand experiences with them. It's pretty lazy, unnuanced, and absolutist to think about people that way. It's rarely ever that a person is good OR bad. We shouldn't fight other people's battles for them. Someone may do or say something bad, but that shouldn't mean that everyone should get involved, hate them, and avoid them. It's such a negative, cynical, myopic, spiteful way to approach people and go through life. Not everything should be tolerated, but that's obvious. Some things that a person did to someone else should end a relationship. But for the most part, conflicts between 2 people are THEIR business. As adults, it's our own individual responsibility to face conflicts, obstacles, have difficult conversations, and navigate our relationships with other people. And most importantly, people grow and change. It's ridiculous to believe that people max out at like 18 y/o and are that person forever. I can't stand this culture of anger and grudge holding. It's unhealthy and not right. It's mean. I don't understand why people don't look let things go or attempt to reconcile anymore. Nobody is ever quite the same person they were 5, 10, 20+ years ago. Maven spoke about his perspective and his relationships with these people. Not sure what everyone thought this video would be. He spoke tactfully and diplomatically. He showed both patience and a willingness to understand. Why are people jumping on him like he was supposed to write everyone off and bury them?
@dl32093 ай бұрын
@@Loe_Jistactually it depends because some are just rumours or stories but if its repeated enough by having them do bad things multiple times to many people then it makes anyone a little suspicious. Also what about things that have been proven with evidence like with hulh hogan with that phone call leak? Or certain behaviours that we see backstage from certain wrestlers that either is them in character or it gets too real. Not to mention the ones who get investigated or straight up arrested for whatever crimes they have committed. Vince mcmahon is one for recent years but there were others in the past like that one guy who ended up getting some brain injuries and ended up killing his wife (i cant remember the name of him)

I don't understand people who approach celebrities out of the blue. If it's an official meet and greet, fine. Otherwise, leave them alone. I have heard some fans and celebrities say they don't mind if a fan approaches them and just keeps the conversation short and the celebrity isn't busy. Like saying, "big fan of yours, have a good one". Then moving on. But for the most part, celebrities really don't want to talk to a complete stranger for 5+ minutes.

To an extent i ageee but you are where you are from your fans. Regardless people put money into you to build you into that star those people mean more than the boss you listen to or your agent. Rather you like it or not they can make you or break you, unfortunately your not some regular person who can claim "boundaries" like some mental health scared teenager. If it wasnt for your fans you would not be there period so i mean id show them some respect at least be like im sorry im not feeling up to it right now or something. Without them your literally just some has been you signed up for the job you wanted this risk and reward. Ignoring people who made you who you are an who control your merchandise sales and career to me is a unwise selfish thing to do and wont make you look good in many eyes

JBL, Ron Simmons, RVD, Kurt Angle and Undertaker talked with the troops for like 40 minutes if not more after the show was over. As a kid I never forgot that. That was in 04. As an adult I met him after he did a talk show on finance, he was at a bar nearby after that. His face lit up when I talked with him about the APA and how I met him years ago and that I told him he was one of the best characters I grew up watching. I had a few coors lights with him. That was cool. I also met John Cena in the Atlanta Airport at like 4am, really cool dude. They had ESPN baseball highlights on a screen and we talked about that a bit waiting for the same flight in the delta lounge they have.

The lesson here is that calling someone a jerk when you don't really know them that well is the easy way out to dismissing someone. Maven says that the video got a lot of them right, but that it misses the nuance of why they act that way in a lot of cases. And when you have positive interactions with someone over and over, especially when they don't have anything to gain from being nice, it makes it seem that when they're considered jerks its because other people either caught them on a bad day or did something to rub them the wrong way. Doesn't mean they AREN'T jerks, just means you personally haven't seen the reasons that other people have. And that's how Maven approached this video.

@@ramanchalasani2378 Here's the thing, you've got to find reasons to why people would be jerks in the first place. And if you don't then you're not caring enough about the situation or the reasons why someone is like this. Why the guy phrased it how he did idk. 2. Pulling a dude backstage and intimidating him is cringe af. The fans behavior wasn’t great either since it was a bit personal but it was a HUGE escalation from Bubba.
