Hi man. First of all thanks a lot for what you do, it's amazing how many information you manage to find and share with us, always happy when one of your videos pops up, every time it's worth the wait, btw I'm not complaining at all about the time between a video and the other, after all you have a life as well and you deserve to enjoy it. Moving on to requests I would like to see John Myung sooner or later, no hurry, but it would be interesting I guess. Thanks again and wish you the best

Dave did right using the Peavey TMax and the Kilo Bass. I still have one of both, together with two TVX 410 Bass cabs for each. The two fullstacks stay in the rehearsal room nowadays, there are other, newer stacks (with much lighter cabs...) to be played on stage nowadays. Those two heads have a wonderful gritty tone when you hit the preamp tube hard. As I like to say "the best no-Ampeg - Ampeg tone" you'll ever have". Those units are literally undestroyable, they are built like tanks. The TVX series of cabs is a class of its own. Heavy, sturdy, unbreakable and with a slightly mid scoop they have a tone that fits especially in a heavy music context. Half a year ago I bought another TVX 410" cab for cheap, because I wanted one to play my all tube heads over them when I have them at home. You can't go wrong with this cabs. Only thing is the weight like an envil. You are only happy to play a TVX 810" cab if you have roadies. But you will have angry roadies.

Thank you for doing this, I in fact have one of the 6 Hartke HyDrive cabinets used on the Big 4 shows (Sofia, Yankee stadium), and the Gigantour tours from 2011-2015. It has been left exactly how Dave played it as far as condition goes and I use it regularly to play through paired with my Hartke LH1000. It is an amazing tone. The cabinet makes an appearance in the guitar center session videos behind Dave Ellefson as there is black tape where a microphone was taped onto the cabinet in front of the painted black grill. The metal grills remain painted and moved on their side as well as sporting Dave’s signature Hartke logo with the fallout shelter symbol and his signature.

@sski4 жыл бұрын
Outstanding rundown. I learned two important things that I've been struggling with in regard to my rig and sound as it relates to my part in my band. One was the tone shaping bit that Dave came up with, and the other is to finally break down and get myself an 8x10 cab. I've been using two 4x10 cabs but I'm missing some important low end information that only an 8x10 can provide while not compromising the upper, tighter end of things. Cheers!
@WhichBass4 жыл бұрын
Thanks SSKI, glad you learned some. Tone shaping is very important for the band as a whole. It really separates amateurs and pros. Actually listening to each other and consciously deciding where you will occupy in the mix.

The last road rig I had was a Hartke 2x15 cab with a DigiTech 600 watt head ,I used a bfx d.o.d 808 effects processor for the pre amp in. Ever since having that no other amp has sounded right to me,Hartke just came out with the alumilite speakers,man those things thumped,they make it sound so nicely compressed and clean. I'd love to get another rig like that even though I don't gig anymore.

My interest would be to know more about player's gear from Bob Daisley, Dennis Dunaway, and Billy Sheehan.
@kongandbasses87324 жыл бұрын
The rig of Billy Sheehan is well known. Today he uses his Yamaha Attitude bass, and ampwise Hartke LH 1000 amps, one for the neck pickup for a massive low end, one for the split coil pickup for the mids and above. Billy uses Hartke HighDrive cabs with the aluminium/paper cone speaker in 15". His rig contains 5 speakers, 4 of them are used, one is a spare or is used (with an extra LH 1000) for a Taurus (or Moog) Bass pedal. He has a signature EBS Overdrive pedal, and he uses two of them. One is plugged into the effects loop of the other for grit and even more grit. Only the signal that comes from the split coil pickup go into the EBS pedal to have a nice overdrive but leaving the low end untouched. This are the last informations of 2019. Quite a number of bass players switched to Hartke the last years, because the so called "industry standard", Ampeg SVT all tube amps, became less reliable since they cheaped out the amps and switched production to China. As Ampeg was sold to Yamaha musical instruments in 2019 everybody is waiting for the production control to become better, and the products to get to a quality standard like in "the old days".
@trance91584 жыл бұрын
@@kongandbasses8732 Ive never liked Ampeg but was unaware Yamaha bought them out. I have been playing Yamaha basses and Hartke amps for the last 13 to 15 yrs now myself. I miss my old Sunn Coliseum rig though but do love my Hartke gear.

Even before I heard Megadeath I saw guys on the local scene playing GK heads into hartke cabs. The sound was godly and clear as it could be.
