Thanks for the comment on what voltage battery to use. The instructions are for a different screen which only used an internal 3.7-4.2 battery. I was afraid to plug a 2S into it. Now I feel better.

I wanna say thanks for the review! Good that you opened it up. As most other have wondered, I also was unsure of how to power it. Picked it up a few year ago with an Eachine Cinecan PNP. Never got to soldering in the r-xsr access receiver though, as my parents died and had so much to take care of. Maybe I’ll have another go at it. At least I’ll now be able to power the goggles!🙂👍

I wonder if it's possible to just buy it without the screen? Providing you can get a screen of a similar size you could use that instead, given that this was originally designed for mobile phone use? Still, looks like a viable option to the FXT Vipers if you didn't want to spend that kind of money.
@whiffles5 жыл бұрын
Sure, I found it here on Gearbest: www.gearbest.com/virtual-reality/pp_1683762.html .. You might also want to look into the newer version called the Ximmerse Visor X. It's basically the same product but with a different clip. One thing to keep in mind is that it's a tight fit and you can't really have a joystick on the back of the monitor like the FXT Viper has.

This one doesn't have and HDMI interface. Only the FXT Viper display has that.

Thanks for the vid. I wonder if you could replace the Monitor with a better one of the same size that has DVR. The lighter weight is definitely a strong selling point. Does the monitor at least have diversity, or just 2 antennas?
@whiffles5 жыл бұрын
Yes it has true diversity.

Hi, great analysis: clear and detailed. I wasn't able to find enough informations about the FXT Vipers V2: may I ask you if you recommend this visor (especially versus the eachine 800d) and which upgrades (es. new antennas?) do you think it needs? Keep up the good content and have a nice day!
@whiffles5 жыл бұрын
This is a pretty decent option, but it does lack a DVR which I find rather useful. As far as the antennas I'd get a patch like the X-Air and a Pagoda. You might also want to look at the Eachine EV800DM.

Coming from the quanum v2, would this the best upgrade? I use glasses inside the quanum most of the time.. But your comment about the mirrors getting dirty worries me, the top one looks annoying to clean? I might also just buy a new receiver for my quanums.. not sure what to do. Those looks way more comfortable at least, even though they don't include anything for the battery. Also, is the viper really better? Is the included (viper) shades a must? Otherwise it might be a plus for the hawkeye if it works great without having to block out your vision.. There are no reflections or anything during the day?
@whiffles4 жыл бұрын
How about the FatShark Scout or the Eachine EV800DM? The Scout is great IMO. They're both a lot more compact than this. The Viper is huge, so for that reason I don't really recommend it.
@simpfally77384 жыл бұрын
@@whiffles Fatshark scout is even more expensive and doesn't do diversity. EV800DM doesn't seem to be rated as high as the viper&hawkeye in terms of focus. Also I can't have my glasses on comfortably on them. I think I'm gonna go for the hawkeye, it's definitely the best in its genre. Lightest, won't annoy my nose like the quanums and probably most other box goggles, and it's the best for changing battery without moving anything! Also, it's dirt cheap compared to other goggles and I think I'll enjoy not having more lens between me and the screen. It's probably the worst goggles in terms of immersion but I'll test that out, see if it feels different.
@whiffles4 жыл бұрын
@@simpfally7738 Scout has built-in diversity, but yes it's a little pricey. The quality of the display is fantastic though. If you're used to the Quanum V2 then the Hawkeye will definitely be an improvement at least. It's much less cumbersome.

I'd get a 4S XT60 battery. Maybe 1300mah or 1500mah so it's not too heavy. Then I'd use a battery strap to attach it to the head strap.

Can you tell if the hawkeye monitor fits in the viper goggles. My vipers stopped working. I see that most 5" montors run about $80 to $90. My thinking is, if the hawkeyes don't fit the vipers, i can still use the hawkeyes the way they are, and it won't cost me any money than buying a separate monitor

Hi, small help request I can record on DVR. It works fine. However I have a problem with playback from DVR (switching to VIDEO mode). I change DVR Input Jack into Output. I turn the the same plug according to what you say in the video - the input signal is on the right - but there is no video signal on the monitor. The monitor image is streaks all the time, it does not enter Video mode. Can you describe how to go to read from DVR? Should I press somrthing to go into Video mode? Thanks
