Just replaced mine, a helpful hint that might help others in the future. I found I possible and quite easy to replace without laying the washer on the side. I did this by placing a peice of wood about 2 inches thick under the drum of the washer to support its weight. From there it is easy to reach down to undo the bottom retaining clips and slide the rod out. Replacement is just as quick and easy and the new rods just click in place. My replacement rods were very slick due to the protective coating so getting the up high enough to get the new caps in was difficult but I found that a screw driver is wonderful at assisting in this if you can get it in the hole. His sting method would be great as well but if you are in a real pinch the old rods would work as well.

Thanks very much for sharing your approach. Sounds like would be quite a bit easier than my contrived method using the string.

Hello, From where do I order this replacement suspension kit for my Cabrio (purchased in 2010) which Whirlpool discontinued to manufacture in 2013?
@AndyMahnFL4113 жыл бұрын
Hello - Here is a link to where I found the suspension kit: amzn.to/3sywtyM This alone unfortunately did not resolve my uL code issue. I wish you luck.

How can you tell if the suspension rods are bad? Thanks for the info!
@AndyMahnFL4114 жыл бұрын
That's a great question. I basically assumed that mine were worn out based upon the age of the unit as well as the persistent UL code. Was a relatively inexpensive fix, provided it would work.

So what did you do to fix? Ours is doing exact same thing.

Don't lay on back. Simply raise top and push the rod cap down with a broom handle and reinstall one at a time

Ok changed the rods and now things are worse. Machine won't even wash, now I'm getting f51 error code, which is weird because I only changed rods and nothing else. Plus when I put in new rods, the drum now rides to high. Anyway you can adjust rids and lower drum or do i need to out old rods back on. At least before I could still wash just could not spin dry.
@AndyMahnFL4114 жыл бұрын
I got to give you a lot of credit here for your persistence. Are you sure the rods ordered are OEM equivalents? Are the springs and bushings fully seated properly where they connect to the basin?
@philwill14 жыл бұрын
@@AndyMahnFL411 well I know I ordered the right part, I checked my owners papers on the inside panel of the washer. Whether they sent me the correct parts I do not know. I am going to lut the old rods back on tonight and see if the f 51 error is fixed by doing so.. Although I have know idea why it suddenly popped up anyway. Will let you know how it goes. You say yours is running now, that is great, more power to you. Wash on Obiwon.

@@AndyMahnFL411 Mama Mia, im up and running, the dude is back on the block. Ok here goes, got ul code ran diagnostics, nothing. Kept trying to wash, 12 minutes ul error code. Ran diagnostics, nothing. Changed suspension rods, no go, Pulled basket, cleaned outer basket and filter put back together 12 minute ul code. Kept washing and wringing by hand. Washer got noisier and nosier finally dreaded F51. Thought bearing were out, no. So got package of new bearing, told f51 meant rps sensor out bought new one. Ready to install both at my wits end flipped washer over on side and just happened to notice that rotor bolt was not completely seated. Unscrewed with my 1/4 inch allen, put some thread locker on it flipes washer back over, plugged up, turned on, problem solved. Three weeks of headaches solved. Man if only I had checked it first. In the bright side I've got new suspenion rods, bearings, rps sensor brand new just sitting there in my tool shed for whenever. Thank all you guys for your help and giving me a shoulder to cry on. Until Man up, we don't throw away, WE FIX IT.
