A nice explanation. There was this friend of mine who worked here in Texas who would weld these washers together, in a stacked way to reinforce the bottoms that break off.

How do you replace the tub support where the shocks are holding on to?

Thank you for your tips! Any advice on how to remove the Shock top nut which is so tight it is rounding even after penetrating oil and heat. Seems the rod is the only way to release, vice grips eventually slip (nothing to really grab onto.) I appreciate any advice.

If you have strut with allen or star bit receptacle in top of shaft you could hold the strut shaft and use a socket with just a pipe wrench on it to remove. If nut is stripped you probably would need to cut strut shaft under tower to remove.

@@organicvids Thanks I wound up carefully cutting them off with mini diamond blades. They cut through quickly.

Hi, is it possible to take out the inner tub without removing the plastic outer tub from the frame of the washing machine? Thanks.

Pita. Just pull whole assembly then separate drums

@@organicvids Hi, thanks for your response. However, I don't know how to pull out the whole assembly. Your video does not show that. I guess I'd have to unscrew some nuts on the base of the machine?
Do you know if the older thin twins used a plastic retaining nut instead of the metal one you show ? Reason I ask is mine once the top agitator is off & I take the bolt out that holds it tight the lower agitator still won't come out . The lower agitator where on yours that retaining nut on mine looks like it could screw off & it has 4 holes like maybe some kind of special socket that has 4 pins are supposed to slide down in then you turn the ratchet or impact to break it loose but I can't seem to find anything on my model for a retaining nut ? My Whirlpool is model LT5000XSW3 or stock number LT5000S it says on the tag . Mine works good but it developed a leak so I took the covers off & looked to find it's leaking water from the shaft seal that's under the agitator or drum & I want to fix it instead of paying through the nose to have it fixed or the shop saying it can't be & trying to upsell sell me on a new machine .

Buy a spanner wrench. Watch vid again. The nut i remove is what holds drum on shaft. Not sure on other models. They are all much the same. No impact! www.google.com/search?q=whirlpool+lt5000xsw3+diagram&client=firefox-b-1-m&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwju_syqvYL2AhURDjQIHaP5ALEQ_AUIBygC&biw=324&bih=536#imgrc=MYNzLC9UflQSrM

Bro I still can’t get the inner tub out once it got the spanner nut off. It goes up a inch or so then gets stuck. I can’t figure out besides Mabey it’s just rusted on.
