This video goes over a common option to fix a GE stackable washer dryer combo if it’s not spinning or draining water. Could be the belt or Thermo Actuator. I’ll show you each step how to debug and repair this.

Thanks for your video! This got me started with my fix, unfortunately mine wasn't the belt or Thermo actuator, it was a sock that got into the drain pump, but your video definitely got me to the right area. Mine was making the similar noises to yours, when i had the front panel off and did some investigating, there were a ton of clothes in there, but the belt was still in tact and spun manually. I turned it on again, and found the noise was coming from the drain pump. I was able to use a wet-vac to get as much water from the tub as possible, disconnected the hose from the pump and pulled out the sock. its up and running again! saved me $$ from having to call in a repair person. :)

You did it! Most videos do seem to blame the lid lock. But that was not my problem either. The belt was fine. But there were tons of socks down there. I think they interfered with the thermo actuator thing and maybe knocked it out of wack. It was sitting kind of cock-eyed. Also, the upper white teeth were not aligned with the grooves of the lower black teeth. I was able to line everything up and it all worked fine. Hope it lasts. But thank you very much either way! You did a great job.

Thank you so much, we bought this house a little over a year ago and the washer and dryer came with it. We started having this issue with the washer a couple days ago so I find this video, follow the steps and sure enough someone’s whole sock drawer and a couple skivvies were down there with a belt off the track, cleaned it out and got the belt back, works just like it used to now. Thanks again!

Same washer, our issue is: as soon as the “wash” portion of the cycle starts, it spins for a second and stops. It sounds like a lid lock, but the lid lock works when we set to “quick rinse” or “spin only”. Im interested to hear if this might indicate a control board issue. Also yeah found a bunch of socks I’ve been looking for! Belt and motor seem fine though

This is a super video! Won't fix my 7-day old stackable probably. Today my 2-towel load did not rinse or drain. The wires-burning smell got my attention. ⚆_⚆ Inspected and found soapy clothes & water. Worried. Under warranty obviously, but I am pondering just hiring a local appliance guy to fix rather than facing the long waiting time to get a GE technician. I set the Dial to OFF and then ran a Light Load. It worked and emptied water this time. Smell still concerns me. THAT CANNOT BE GOOD. Lowe's says "no returns." GE has the weekend off. I was unable to Register my stackable on the GE website. If you call them, your call does not progress unless you have a recognized phone number. Tried to open an Account. Failed. Going in circles. I sure do miss my old Maytag. :O( Maybe I should have just repaired it again.

UPDATE: the warehouse agreed to exchange my 7-day old dud for a new one. Then the new one stopped working on day 15. But I found a fix and repaired it myself by resetting the computer boards. No need to replace a belt or actuator on mine. Fingers crossed. Will never buy another GE.

😂I totally loved the humor and sarcasm! Lol so you totally taught me how to get that front open without a putty knife (my substitute was a long flat head). Never have I ever lol😅 seen the insides of a overworked and never paid washer and I felt for my little count on cleaning machine!!!!😮 You had just 1 sock right? Let's just say I could've adopted yours to complete the football team I had. Not to mention all the dirt and dust bunnies that can't seem to find a rabbit hole to dive into! I'll take full accountability and responsibility right here and now: Hi. My name is Crash and I'm an appliance abuser!😢 Crazy how one cleans behind, under and between everything in the open and even the outside of appliances but, never thinks about the inside and all the year's little engine was going even when it technically shouldn't have been. As a former Navy Bos'n Locker fixer of all deck sanders, needle guns etc., who had no clue but did never give up until it was fixed, I can see why house appliances quickly pass away and are replaced with the newest. Let's just say, it's not because of their inadequacy or choice but instead because of our wanting to overload and cram and hurry as we bypass the label instructions. 😊 Thank you for your totally awesome tutorial BUT......😮 say I had a friend of a friend that the spinner motor was spinning but the belt was on strike still yet, still attached. . . Would you by chance have any advice or suggestions related? Remember, this is just a what if scenario thing but I'm sure the friend of the friend would be much appreciative and obliged for you input. ❤❤❤

Mine quits working. More the washer than the dryer. The washer only works when the dryer is on. I know it has also stop spinning as the clothes are sopping wet and I don’t hear the clanking on the drum bins. Usually I have to re-balance the clothes around the center piece. If it is not a full load, they all run together on one slide, causing the spinning of the drum to hit the sides. It’s two years old and I don’t use it that much. And I’m angry because I spent $1600. I am thinking the reason it quits after one road is because there is a build up of a lunch somewhere. I’ll have vacuums, both animals outside and inside him. I am thinking it will be cheaper to get a home warranty program for one year as it would be the same cost to repair the washing machine. Therefore, all of my appliances will be covered for a year. I know I have to wait the 30 days
