Tried this fix with collars. Was an easy fix. It's been over a month and has worked perfectly. No more shaking during spin cycle. Thanks for this fix. This is by far the best fix on KZbin.

I fixed my shocks (suspension rods), by jamming upholstery foam about 2 1/2" thick by 12" square in the corners. It is keeping my machine from violently shaking now. It works very well now. Hope this help others. Make a video and post it. No need to replace the rods!
@EricHastings

WOOHOO! This finally stopped the "shakes" - literally bouncing my washer around the room with the rods as-is. I followed another video's advice and attempted springs/zipties, which just managed to bend the support rods (I bent them back.) Then I came upon this video, ordered the collars from Amazon using the link, and 1-day prime delivery later, installed. I didn't take off the back panel but left everything hooked up except the power, so installation was a little harder (put some cloth on the metal edges so my arms didn't get all cut up reaching down into the gaps to position the pieces.) I went a bit tighter than the "2 quarters" gap setting - made sure that when I pushed down on the tub, the bounce-back was a single motion. First load is in now, and wow what a difference. I'll expect I may need to eventually re-tighten, but for now the washer is again usable without having to jump outta my seat and run back there to hold the machine down. Thank you sir for your innovative idea!

I own a Samsung that I purchased 3 years ago. And just recently it started giving me issues with unbalancing. I replaced all 4 (Suspension Rods) that I bought on Amazon and it is still unbalanced. I didn't want to buy the ones from Samsung because they are more expensive and in reading reviews on their (suspension rods) people have complaint that after replacing them their washer was still unbalance. So after seeing this video I think I will try these clamps. After seeing so much videos on other washers with this same issues. I have notice that this issue with unbalance drum doesn't only happen with whirlpool but it's happening with other brands as well. They don't make washers like they use to. My old washer lasted me 24 years and never had to do a repair on it.

So good news, I’m in the process of getting a fix for the Samsung rods. You can fix your factory rods and make them better than factory. The Amazon rods are trash, but you can also repair them. If you can’t wait, order the Samsung rods. In a video I compare them and you can see the difference between them. The video will be released in a few days. I’m waiting on one item. If you want to email me and I’ll let you know. Yes I agree 140% appliances are not what they were

I recently became aware that the grease in the shocks is called damping grease. It controls dampens movement. Also there is an insert that rides on the rod that need to be replaced with something thay adds friction but allows movement. If i was up to it I would make a video about it. Your video is a fair compromise
@appliancerepairshorts
@appliancerepairshorts 9 ай бұрын
Yes and no the grease does offer a little protection, but mainly for noise. You are right in the material inside. I actually have a video of that. The problem is adjusting it to the proper setting. It can be done. The collars are doing just that, except from the top. I have video coming out with Samsung suspension rods repair. Thanks for your feedback

In regards to the two quarters, would that not depend on how much wear that spring top has? Is that a GE with no foam? Never mind, I see it is a Whirlpool.

I viewed many videos re fixing the suspension rods as opposed to buying. Your clamp is quite an interesting fix. However, I opted to use a flat rubber washer that is used to repair a leaking tap/faucet. It greatly improved the dampening effect and machine is spinning very smoothly and not banging nor walking. Will give feedback on how long it works for. I made an incision on the rubber to get it onto the rod and re-joined it using krazy/super glue. This washer was placed under the cup on the rod.

Very frustrating listening in to the monologue. Replacing just the collars to save a few bucks is not a reliable repair nor worth the time and efforts. Replace and reinstall with a set of 4 new suspension rods (common compatible Part Number about $45: W10780048) is the better way. I have done that as DIY and the washing machine is functioning as good as new.
@appliancerepairshorts
@appliancerepairshorts 9 ай бұрын
Well you apparently didn’t get OEM, suspension rods. Those cheap Amazon are not quality, they come defective or last 30 days . As for the collars, it fixes the problem. It is as simple as that. The beautiful thing is, later when you feel the suspension getting loose, you can tighten up the collars. When I do a repair, I give a year warranty on the repair. Better than the OEM repair. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

@@appliancerepairshorts I got Amazon (Suspension Rods) and you are right, they are cheap. Also buying OEM suspension doesn't guarantee a fix. Ive read of people buying the OEM and still have an unbalance drum. So it doesn't hurt to try the clamps. Thanks for sharing.
