I went an extra 2 days without whisk(e)y and that's a really hard thing since I work security at a Casino. I deal with drunks nightly and really need a drink every so often after work. I wanted to wait to drink with the Whiskey som and mooch! Love the show and can't wait to visit the distillery in the near future!

We had a chance to sit down with Jimmy Bedford and taste from a few barrels, while interviewing him - it was a great day!

@@ericnix4396 I won't post the link but if you look up "Tasting Jack Daniel's With Master Distiller Jimmy Bedford" here on YT you'll find part of it. This was 2008 and we hadn't yet figured out this KZbin thing, so quality is a bit iffy. There was a multi-part series where Jimmy walked us around the distillery, but sadly KZbin 'lost' it. Somehow a lot of those early videos are gone.

I was a JD hater when I first started to enjoy whiskey for the taste, I assumed it was watered down and something to avoid. I recently bought JD black for budgeting purposes and was surprised at how much flavor Jack Daniels packs into 80 proof whiskey. Lesson is that if lots of people like it, it's probably good.
@wingracer16145 жыл бұрын
It really is good stuff. No it's not super complex but it's one of the most easy drinking whiskies ever. And it goes great with coke. I love an Ardbeg or Red Breast but if it's a party and I just want to drink, JD gets it done.

I'm pretty sure I made a guy mad once by asking for help with Roman numerals. All I did was ask if he knew what 999, 54, and 499 were, and he slowly spelled out "IM LIV ID." I decided it was best to just back away and ask someone else.

Not sure about the no6 but I have (or had...) a bottle of Master Distiller's No3 and it was a nice bourbon profile straight out of the bottle but adding even a few dashes of water it instantly became the Jack Daniel's taste I've always remembered (holding opinion to myself on that...). Interested to see if others have had similar experiences opening up the Master Distiller series or proofing down some of the other bottles?

🤣🤣🤣that outro tho I have a bottle of jack no.5 and a regular bottle of jack, I've done a side by side. Maybe it was psychosomatic but I did feel there was a small difference. Definitely not a overwhelming change, but a bit sweeter? Maybe it's just the small difference in what barrels it's being selected from or how its blended?

So I noticed the bottle for the video is Master Distiller No. 1 bottle which is not the Master Distiller No. 6 bottle that is being reviewed 🧐 Does that mean you have some of the Master Distiller Series in the vault and are waiting for JDMD 1-5 to arrive?!? Thanks for everything you guys do; keep up the good work 🤪🥃🧔🏽

I typically avoid Jack Daniels for personal history reasons, my Aunt would have JD over ice when she was alive every holiday dinner I can remember. This was long before I got interested in whiskey and did solidify the "older person" drink. After her passing we had some JD in her honor, and I don't think I have drank any ever since. I only wish I had been able to sip some whiskey with her when she was alive, and every time I see a JD bottle I find myself thinking of her. Maybe this year is the time for me to return to JD and see what sort of interesting flavors they bring to my collection. It also seems JD brings out the fire in both Rex and Daniel at the end of the video!

Thank you so much for reviewing! Lot of people hate Jack. But jack alone, neat in my opinion is one of the greatest whiskeys. There are still so many great options out there. Daniels is just a taste I could drink every day if I’m not careful :) some people get what I’m talking about, some people don’t. Those who do are the blessed ones Hah! Love the channel btw!
@jic15 жыл бұрын
I think a lot of people hate Jack Daniels for the same reason that they hate Jim Beam: they are basic, safe, ubiquitous. And they are. But they are also quality products. I haven't bought either for a while (at least not the standard versions) because I'd rather buy whiskies I haven't tried yet, but it's hard to go wrong with either.
@negakega87645 жыл бұрын
jic1 I totally get that, I used to be like that too, I could never get the same whiskey, always had to try a new one. I found Jack to be my comfort whiskey, something I always return to if I venture off to far into the whiskey world. Yah know what I mean?

I love this edition. The rock candy, maple syrup notes are just right up my alley. The No.5, for contrast, is super peppery.
@patrose77425 жыл бұрын
So, here’s the deal. I think I may have made a mistake. Until recently, the only scotch I have ever had is Monkey Shoulder which I thoroughly enjoy. I’ve never had a peated scotch until I bought a bottle of Glenfiddich Fire & Cane. All I can say is, I was completely taken aback by the nose and palate. All I am getting on both is smokey brisket, rubber, and band aids. The butterscotch/toffee notes are buried under everything else. Should I keep drinking the bottle hoping that I can eventually break through the strong peatiness and not feel like I wasted $45, or should I just stick to my bourbons and ryes?
@jic15 жыл бұрын
It might be worth leaving it for a few days, then going back to it. If you still don't like it, then maybe you just don't like it. In which case, give the rest away to a friend, mix it with coke, soak a fruitcake in it - whatever makes you feel you are at least getting something out of it for your money.
@ericnix43964 жыл бұрын
I found all of them on Fine Drams, but I don’t have that amount of cash to get them to you guys. Would you be able to get them to compare them all. I think that they are made to try to represent the Subjective tastes of each distiller preference when they were in charge😎🧔🏽
@josephdewberry7105 жыл бұрын
I swear I've seen 1-3 here in the last month just need to remember where. I know they don't have any in the White Rabbit but pretty sure I saw them in Tennessee in the first wet county south of Lynchburg at a mom and pop liquor stop. Next dry day I get looks like I need to go searching for the wet spot.
@geoffreykoleff22975 жыл бұрын
Did I miss it or maybe lost it in the cross talk between Rex and Daniel, but what is the proof on the special edition? I've had the JD Angelo Luchhesi edition a few years back and it was 43-45% I think and a noticeable difference from regular Jack but with the same hallmark flavors, just wondering if maybe proof was accounting for the change here as well.

They do a bunch of these 86 proof releases. They're all the same. I was going to collect these, but decided to collect the Legacy series instead with all the old labels. It's all regular JD but at the old 43% instead of the new 40%. Not sure if it is the old 4 year aged instead of the new 2 year aged. They sell the green label Legacy at my Total Wine for $11.99 which is had to pass up.
