Whiskey Distillery Tour: Heaven Hill

It is on my bucket list to tour the Heaven Hill Distillery. I liked the part about the pendulum that shows if the building is tilting.

Just had the Old Fitz 9 year BIB and it has easily become my favorite.

They make an inexpensive bourbon that is quite good, but don't seem to want to promote it. It's called Heaven Hill Old Style Bourbon. It's a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey that comes in 1 liter bottles. I recently bought 2 bottles for $11 each. First I bought one, but was so impressed that I went back and bought another. It's aged 3 years so the nose is not rich and complex, but it's very smooth and pleasant to drink. In fact, it's a great neat sippin' whiskey. It may not win any awards, but it's surprisingly good. I have plenty of very expensive whiskeys, but after drinking this I don't feel the need to pay big bucks anymore.

They make the BEST Bourbon in the world! Really nice people there! The Elijah Craig is one of my favorites.

Pretty sure Heaven Hill Distillery is in Bardstown, not Louisville. But they do have Angel's Envy.

Heaven Hill's Bernheim distillery is in Louisville. They transport the whiskey to their Bardstown location for aging.

I didn't realize it's still a private owned company. I'm way more in now. Cheers. I'm a rittenhouse rye fan. Need to try pikesville and some elija craig rye.

I just attended a Heaven Hill masterclass that included the Rittenhouse, Pikesville and Elijah Craig Rye. they did not disappoint, all good rye whiskys each and every one of them. I quite enjoyed the Rittenhouse and Elijah Craig myself, but among the 30 or so attendees the Pikesville won overall as crowd pleaser. Can't wait until Heaven Hill presents a wheat whisky.

Welcome to Heaven Hill distillery, here is our stainless steel, here is more stainless steel. We don't rotate our barrels, hell we don't even check on them! And also our wearhouse might fall over. Not very impressed with this tour xD
