Finally I have made it through all of the current videos! I started watching a few weeks ago and have loved every video. My introduction to scotch is an interesting mooch story indeed. A friend of mine in college was gifted a bottle of Laphroaig 30 for his 30th birthday party and I was lucky enough to be poured a glass of the amazing liquid. I can't say I was in love with it at my first sip but I took my time to enjoy the drink none the less and after several more tastes I knew I was in love. Today the closets I have is Lagavulin 12 for the 200th anniversary my wife bought for me, but I hope to add many more from the every growing list I have as a result of watching this channel.

My go to is Benchmark 8. I know I’m biased, and I’ve said it before, but for around $10 a bottle it’s a damn fine bourbon for the price.

Drinking my first dram of this tonight. It's delicious. Maybe the best Irish whiskey I've had so far. I love the wine finish. I get a lovely strawberry buttery taste. Smooth no burn short finish. Will always have this one in my bar.

You guys have finally convinced me to pull the trigger on this one. I've just heard that green spot are releasing a new expression exclusively for Irish and American markets. It's called green spot montelena. It's finished in French oak Zinfandel wine casks. I hope you will be able to pick up a bottle for review.

Finally got around to buying a bottle of Green Spot Chateau Leoville Barton (Alberta, Canada). What I found amusing is Green Spot (Original) and Yellow Spot were only a couple dollars apart and the Chateau expression was $6 cheaper than the original at $85 CAD. Whether these are under/overpriced or a bit of both, I am happy I got this and readily accessible (for now).

For the price, Aberlour 12 is excellent. Tough question for us up in Michigan, where the liquor prices are considerably higher than the rest of the U.S.
@shuboy057 жыл бұрын
It's expensive but I would recommend the Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy or the Midleton Dair Ghaelach (that one is cask strength). The Legacy somehow has tropical fruit notes which is something I don't find in Midleton's other products. Meanwhile the Dair Ghaelach is unique because the whiskey was finished in virgin Irish oak casks. Basically Ireland's oak forests were heavily cut down in the past so Irish oak trees that can be made into barrels are very rare.

For the money, Angels Envy is, to my palate, head and shoulders above most bourbons out there. Could cost twice as much and I wouldn't consider it overpriced. In the realm of Scotch, it's going to have to be Ardbeg 10. That was the Scotch that made me fall in love with whisky.
@j.jamieson88427 жыл бұрын
Hi Guys, big fan of the channel. At my local grocery store I can pick up E.H. Taylor Single Barrel for just under $60 (though I see it costing much more online). At that price, I feel it's the best whiskey for the money.
@YaBoyJedi7 жыл бұрын
So I have to say this. Because I have had it twice now in one year which was extremely surprising to me considering how hard it is to find this whisk(e)y. But my choice for the best whisk(e)y for the bang of the buck would have to be and only be Glenn Fetick 12. Yes it can be very VERY expensive depending on where you live. But for where I have gotten it, I personally have a love for it. Because of the fact that I have began to have a really close friendship with the guy that runs the distillery. Please PLEASE have it as one of the ten. Even if it is #10.

Best for the money: Henry McKenna 10 for sure. E.H. Taylor Small Batch is another incredible bonded bourbon under $40 in Dallas. When the budget is low, I go for Evan Williams Single Barrel. Depends on where you live...I am from switzerland. Over here, no whisky is budget. Even your classic jameson is expensive. So I usually go for higher priced ones. Lagavulin 16 and glenfiddich 12 are the way to go (50 to 70$). If you wanna spend alittle more, get your hands on a glendronach 18 (90$). Again...prices may be different in your country.

There are alot of 30 to 45 dollar wiskeys out there that are amazing. But when I hear best value, I'm not looking at bottle of Angles Envy ($45 for a 750ml) or even my go to Buffalo Trace ($34 for a 750ml). When I hear value I'm looking down at the end of the shelf for the big bottle of Very Old Barton ($20 for 1.75L). It's not perfect, but it's definitely a fantastic value. (Prices are local to DFW Tx)
@chrisboggess49787 жыл бұрын
William Poppe I agree and VOB is right up there. Also 1792 is a great bourbon for the value. My choice is Benchmark 8 though.

Chris Boggess value is so subjective though. I've got a Scotch loving friend that primary buys a hundred plus dollar bottle of Lagavulin for his primary wiskey. When I introduced him to Angles Envy and told him the price he was excited about it. While I kinda top my purchases off at around 65 bucks, and it's at the top of my range, the Angles is a great value to him.

I finally found a bottle of Green Spot and it's this one. I haven't opened it yet but I'm distraught to hear that the coconut, the primary reason I wanted to try Green Spot, isn't there. I guess I'll have to buy another bottle of the regular one now (oh darn) if I can ever find it. Still super hopeful that I'll love this version when I get to crack the bottle finally. I'll admit, I was being a bit facetious. I tried 4 of the beginner whiskeys and I found out a few things. I am not a bourbon guy. (Elijah Wood Small Batch kills my stomach and while Four Roses Single Barrel was tasty, it's just not my kind of taste.) With that said, I had a lot more luck with the scotch. Monkeyshoulder isn't bad at all, I can stand it and somewhat enjoy it. But with my 4th bottle I found my new go to for scotch, which is grandma's first scotch, glenfiddich 12. I've bought two bottles already and I honestly enjoy the stuff. If anyone wants to recommend something similar in taste, i'd be down to try it.

I went out and got a bottle of Jameson and Monkey Shoulder for the livestream (which i missed thanks to work -.-), I'm fine with strong alcohol spirits etc but by comparison to most rums that I normally drink, I find it really hard to pick out the flavours. They just seem like bland woody alcohol to me. Maybe I'll try a rye or one of the more smokey scotches to see if those hit the spot a little better.

Just flew from Baltimore, MD back home to South Florida this past weekend and I wanted a duty free Scotch so badly! Didn't know that if you fly domestic you cannot purchase from the shop. Guess it defeats the purpose of being "duty free" then, huh?

I realy enjoy watching your videos! I’d be curious to know what you guys think about Dimple Golden Selection. To me, it’s relly good and not the most expensive (at least here, in France). With love from a french viewer!

I can get dalmore 12 for $50, so I feel like that's a pretty good bang for your buck

A green spot that no one can get? One that is amazingly amazing too? This episode is just mean.

charlie.g.hague, agreed. I'm going to take out our rage on Daniels bottle.

A lot of people (myself included) probably gripe a lot about how we can't get half of the whiskeys shown, but now here is one that I Daniel himself won't be able to get easily. Does anyone forsee Daniel booking an international flight only to go to a duty free shop and buying every single one of these that he can get ahold of?
