The mash bill is 78% corn, 18% rye, and 4% malted barley.

That's the first non-supermarket bourbon / rye that I have had and it was delicious. I had exactly the same reaction on nosing!

Taste is subjective, I consider Wild Turkey 101 quality stuff 😂. So many good options but American Whiskey seems to be the new adventure.

I got pretty much everything wrong with my guesses here. I thought low rye because I wasn't getting herbal, I wasn't getting soft wheat and it tasted low ABV to me. I was mostly getting very generic bourbon notes of cherry, vanilla and baking spices. I've never had Barrel so I was never going to guess it but I'm a little disappointed that I got the rest so wrong!

@@WhiskeyVault if I can pick up distinctive notes like bananas, peanuts, pencil shavings etc then I have a chance, but cherry, cinnamon, caramel and vanilla are too generic, its just bourbon at that point.
