I've seen this review many times and never commented. It is an absolutely excellent distillery review. Top marks to Ben and the Amrut distillery.

Ben great review of Amrut Distillery. Interesting to see the extreme differences in viewing of this distillery to the leading architecturally and engineered distillery in the world today which is the McCallan distillery but the quality of my first Amrut Sherry is in the A category of sherried whiskies. Thanks Ben for traveling to India to do this review. Very eye opening.

Benedikt, what a great tour of such a distant distillery. They really put the char down there . That Spirit still top was a nice idea getting lots of contact from vapors on such a big area of copper. I will have to try a glass sometime soon. thanks again for such a nice review.

This is a good and informative stuff Ben! Non-chill filtered and natural colour; keep it up Amrut! I am sure we will see a product with an age statement pretty soon right?
@adhominemsis-t.australisensis8 жыл бұрын
No need for age statements as such with Amrut as they're all between 4 - 6 years.
@Shane4Bass8 жыл бұрын
An age statement is about transparency for the paying customer and the integrity of the whisky producer. Not every whisky needs to have an age statement, but I would hate to think that Amrut is only capable of producing young NAS whiskies, even if they are of decent quality.
@adhominemsis-t.australisensis8 жыл бұрын
But it' s true, Amrut can only produce young whiskys that are between 3-6 years old. The climate where the spirit is produced and aged prohibits long maturation times. If an Amrut were to be aged for 12 years there'd be nothing left but oak in the cask!

very weird spirit still shape
@iskiebaedistillery46338 жыл бұрын
The still is very much like many Scottish stills such as Glenfiddich, but with a tighter constriction between the pot and the neck. This would cause a rapid change in velocity of ethanol vapor, causing some condensation in itself, but more importantly causing some turbulence. The turbulence would increase the contact with the copper, removing some of the sulfur components and cleaning the spirit up a bit. Very nice design.

In India it's only a 3 degree cycle between the hot and cold season!!!What rubbish. In Central India we have 46deg C in summers and down to 5 deg C in the cold!! Thus man is not factually correct. Also he is not passionate in his presentation. They should have got someone of the family to present! Why this obsession with the white skin?
@fangdog292 жыл бұрын
I think this is a really reference to south India. In South India as a whole, pretty much, winters are not very cold.
