Staggering when you realise just how much railway was destroyed in north wales alone. Well done Vic for giving us a snapshot of what has alas gone.

Excellent video. I have just bought a book - LMS Branchlines in North Wales vol.1 Bangor to Afonwen,Llanberis and Nantlle by W.G.Rear just because of this route. Well done to all concerned.

Thanks for this, I did this journey in the opposite direction just before the line closed. I was young and have little recollection of it apart from changing trains at Afon Wen,

It's a shame this line was cut, to get to Pwellheli now by train means travelling to Shrewsbury, the viaduct over into Barmouth has once again just cost millions to repair! it's a beautiful viaduct but when it's under repair the line is closed for months so it means buses and in the winter it can be treacherous, even so today it would have been a beautiful ride.

I've done the route that took the Slate to Port Dinorwic (The Padarn Railway) but doesn't actually show the port
