I'm really liking this release, I'm really enjoying all these new distillery releases we're having at the moment, I'd probably go for this over the Ardnamurchan personally, this just drinks so easy, I've got the new Lindores Abbey release so I hope that impresses me as much as this did, cheers Phil 🍻

Tried the Lindores as a sample, was a fan! Loads of honey and ginger notes. Ardnamurchan is great for balance, but this has that punch I've been waiting for from new West coast/island distilleries. Hasn't let down at all.

Enjoy your reviews a lot. You are easily one of the best reviewers on KZbin and like the fact you do a nice range of whiskies, particularly from the new distilleries. Like you I am keeping my eye on these because first/new releases keep happening as new distilleries start to bottle their first whiskey. Please keep up the great work……thanks

Thank you, Howard. What a wonderful thing to read on a long train journey home. Yes, these new distilleries are throwing out some excellent whisky. The hardest part is trying to get hold of them!

Got this a couple weekends back in a wee shop / wine bar in the south side of Glasgow for 48! Was surprised to see it alongside a Springbank 15 so I bought both and felt a tiny bit guilty... Looking forward to trying it now. And yes, dried flowers are going in this empty bottle when the time comes hah!

The vase life for this thing is a must! Springbank 15 and a bottle of Raasay. Sounds like a solid weekend to me.

Glad I got to see your thoughts on this - Raasay was't really on my radar so I'm not sure what made me buy it - I'm just glad I did!

They nailed the packaging, I will say that did help win me over. Stunning liquid though. Look forward to your review John!

I have seen this pop up a few times now. Hopefully it will show up in my market soon, the bottle looks wonderful and the whisky sounded good for a 5 year old.

Hoping it hits everyone soon. Worth every ounce of our time as whisky drinkers!

Hi Phil. Compared to some other new distilleries which are releasing their first core range expressions at very inflated prices, this seems to be fairly priced for an initial release. I haven’t yet tried it, but your review has got me interested, so a bottle is on its way. If it’s anything like the first Ardnamurchan core range release (September 2020) then it’s bound to please. And yes, the bottle alone is a real looker, I agree. Many thanks for the extensive tasting notes and descriptions. Cheers!

Hell of a looker, Russell. Yeah, the peat is more present than in the Ardnamurchan, but it delivers in a few other fun areas, too. These folks and Ardnamurchan are really on my watchlist. Legitimately feel they're future standards in the industry.

Good morning Phil, thanks for this fine review describing the Raasay. Just bought a bottle on Monday. Costs me only 50 Euro which good for a new distillery. I will definetely open this bottle in autumn. Cheers from Germany

That's a great price! Hope you're enjoying it?

I like your Ledaig reference. Is your wet pebbles note something resembling petrichor? I like that. I might even like this a bit more than the Christmas Big Peat that I bought a couple years ago. This is cleaner and has a nicer finish (no bitterness).

Petrichor! Yes! That wet earthy/grassy/damp smell.
