Today's video is a comparison between the HISENSE U7K vs. U8K MINI-LED. They are both excellent but which will you choose? Is the U8K worth the premium, or is the U7K good enough to buy a larger U7K over the smaller U8K? You tell me? Thank you for watching!

Great video - great channel- thanks for the commentary Brian - I just took possession of the65” U75k and couldn’t be happier ! I researched heavily with your channel/ FOMO /TechSteve and Quantum - ultimately did the U7k because that the only one Costco is carrying of this line (was in great sale also ) This video helped me feel at peace with the demo - not thinking if I should have upgraded - without the side to side - it’s hard to tell a difference in real life - the u7k drops jaws on its own .

Is there a difference in reflection handling between them ? The U8k advertises a special layer - maybe the one small complain I have on the U7k is it’s not particularly great on reflections - average but poor compared to my 15yr old Bravia with a Matt screen - my wife is giving me the beans on that - she sits more off angle than me - if there’s a big difference- I may consider upgrading to U8k to keep wife happy

I love my u8k. The tv can do it all. The bear thing for me is how sdr/hdr upscales for sports which my c9 and c1 have struggled. I paid 750 for a 55 compared to 1500 and 1000 for the oled models. The sound on the u8k really pushes it over the top. You really don’t need a soundbar. Gaming on it is just as pleasurable than an oled. The VRR, high refresh rate, colors, and deep blacks are all there.

Awesome versus video, Brian. I would say for the average consumer that just wants a modern, "good enough" TV...get the U7K in the "size up" category. For those AV Nerds (TM) that want the premium in whatever brand, get the U8K. The U7K is often so close in performance that it's an easy bang for the buck recommendation for friends and family that are in the market for a new TV and/or a size upgrade but aren't concerned with factors like the brightest specular highlights or wanting the best dimming algorithm. Hisense have had a great couple of years!

Thank you for the very comprehensive comparison. I'm looking to buy a new TV and I set my eyes on these two 75" Hisense models. The 75" U7K is priced $400 lower than the U8K. Watching this video helped me make a decision, I'm very happy with U7K performance and looks, I think it's a great TV set and the $400 premium difference for U8K is not worth it. I'm replacing a 55" older LG which is a bit small for my living room so technically even going for a 65" will be a huge difference but I'm sticking with the 75 size versus going for a 65" U8K.

I bought the 75in u7k and it's the ads pro ips panel, it's a bit more bright than 65 in which I returned and I am loving it. There is not much difference between u8k and u7k and only buy the u8k if you are in a very very bright room, otherwise I assure you it will hurt your eyes and that brightness and extra cost will not be worth it.

Another cool fact: The bigger the TV, the more dimming zones you get. So, if you decide to go for a bigger U7K, the difference in zone count becomes even smaller between the two. There is one exception, though. 75 inch version uses an IPS panel globally, which means that the contrast will be much inferior to the VA counterparts which will result in much more blooming.

I wonder how your camera and my display affect what I'm seeing vs what you see. During the video you mention several times that you prefer the U8K but I think I prefer the U7K in more of the scenes/settings. The U7K just seemed more natural and even more detailed in many cases. That is likely due to, as you mentioned, the higher brightness of the U8K. It almost feels like it washes out the color a bit too much from my perspective. Love these comparisons though. I'd really love to see the U8K, U7K, X90L and X93L battle it out! I think the processing of the Sony's will make a big difference.

I watched this four times trying to confirm what I was seeing was what I was thinking about this comparison. Then, after reading all the comments in favor for the U7K, I got my confirmation. The U7K has a MUCH better picture than the U8K, according to what this video illustrates without a doubt. The tv’s brightness and/or colors blow out all the detail in SO many examples. Brian even stated sometimes the color brightness washes out the detail and because the U7K has less brightness and dimming zones, the U7K has more depth. So in conclusion, I was planning on getting an 85 inch U8 for the “best” version, but now I think it’s a no-brainer thanks to the seeing the video and reading all the comments favoring the U7K. I’m not confident in the U8K’s ability to be adjusted to the same or better than that of the U7K. If it can, I would appreciate any advice. Thanks for reading and I hope others find this informative and helpful.

It'd be nice to hear what you see with your eyes because in the video the U7K clearly looks sharper with better blacks. I assume that's your camera making it seem that way? Or does the U7K actually have better blacks/contrast?

Thanks, Brian. I’m replacing a BenQ projector in my man cave. Lighting is NOT an issue. That’s said, the 85” U7K is my choice. TBH, even regardless of the size, I prefer the lighting in the U7K as the U8K appears a bit washed in many shots. I would have never witnessed this on my own without your post.

We went with the 7k for our living room watching and family gaming (We have a 4k home theatre with a 139" screen for the serious stuff) and we could not be happier Works well with Alexa Fire TV cube works well, eARC works well, Alexa Fire TV works well. Playstation 5 is perfect, we have had zero issues with this television. The only blemish is a cheap remote compared to the Korean and Japanese premium OLED offerings. Paying a 50 percent premium for better highlights in HDR just did not motivate us.

👏 Your video has been a great help . Just got a great deal on 65” u7k in UK 🇬🇧 £799. for a change Hisense hasn’t given us an inferior specked version this year. Anyone in Europe wondering …. The only difference is the stand and operating system (Vidaa instead of Google) screen and internals are the same. We do get a better more premium remote over here too.

Such an excellent demonstration of these two tv models. Unlike a lot of TV reviewers that tell you what adjustments to make they don't show a side-by-side comparison like you do on what happens when you do make the adjustments, much more educational. i own the Hisense U8K 75 inch in my home theater. Next month or so i'm going to go to the 85 inch U7k. with my very-old eyeballs, I virtually see no difference or very little in either one of these display panels.. I don't understand why most people would want to spend more money on Samsung or LG or Sony when Hisense delivers such fantastic performance. Guess the only thing left to test with Hisense is longevity.

Like some others, I watched plenty of reviews and comparisons on these 2 tv's, as well as the TCLs. I kept seeing greater detail on the U7K. In real life living rooms, and by adjusting settings for personal preferences, the U7K seemed like the spec to value leader, especially now that the January sales have hit. $680 for a U7K seems like a no brainer. Arrives today. We shall see!

You know, in general for most people the U7K is more TV than they need or would appreciate. The average person will NEVER notice the higher end difference. Especially if they do NOT see them side by side. Heck, I have an 8 year old 55" LG that looks fine when NOT compared to more recent offerings, lol. It's brightness is probably less than 300 NITs and is only 1080p but it looks plenty bright in a room that has little direct sunlight. The IMPORTANT question for the consumer IS RELIABILITY. The LG has been trucking for 8 years with NO problems. Heck I have a 20 year old rear projection Toshiba that still works! Can Hisense MATCH that! We have minimal RELIABILITY data on these Chinese models. The rumor is that the hardware is cheaper, the transistors, power supplies, LEDs, etc. are not chosen for their durability but to hit a LOW price point. This is NOT to say that the BIG three in their less than flagship TVs do not do the same thing. I believe reliability in the cheap to mid-tier is a problem for ALL makes. This race to the bottom is NOT producing TVs that can run a decade or more without FAILURES. How many people are going to spend 800-1000 on a TV and buy another one to replace it every year, or every two years. YET, that IS what manufacturers want. 1080p, 4K, 8K...etc. Mini-LED, OLED, Quantum OLED, MICRO-LED, etc. Constant PUSH for newer, better, finer color and resolution. Where does it end? When the human EYE can NO LONGER distinguish TVs one from another. When we just cannot objectively SEE the difference? As a MAIN set I want something that will be good, look good for years. And I don't want to have what Mr. FOMO suggests: Fear of Missing Out, lol! That's why I think it is a GOOD thing that Hisense has exteneded its warranty to TWO YEARS. Of course there are numerous COMPLAINTS about SUPPORT on that. Great to have a warranty but BACK It up with SUPPORT, no? Seriously, why can't TV manufacturers provide a standard THREE YEAR warranty. Even cars come with that. Don't they believe their TVs can RUN for THREE years!

For years I only bought the big brands $2000+ tv's and my last few purchases have been more of the budget brands decent sets in the $800 or less range. Honestly for my use I cannot justify the much higher cost of the big boys when compared to the performance the more budget options offer these days. Really interested I think in the 65" U7K Hisense for my next tv to replace a Vizio 55" m series quantum from about 5 years ago.

I just like the darks better on the U7K, and I feel like the U8K's bights do it a little of a disservice. There were only 4 shots that I liked the U8K somewhat better and most of those had to do with reflections; butterfly on the reflective leaf, the honey, blacks looked better in one scene, and only one sky scene. I'm going to check out the video game video you mentioned, but I am pretty much sold on the U7K at the moment. You're saving me money and helped me pick a product I prefer. Thanks! Will be replacing a 50” model from Vizio and am considering these two and the TCL QM8. The U7K really does seem to be the best all round buy at 75” but the U8K is that bit better at 65”. As you have noted before, not being in stores makes it a bit tough to decide as getting hands on in person before making this kind of investment is still me preferred way to go.
