I remember reading that Garp declined promotion to Admiral because Admirals are subject to direct orders from the Celestial Dragons, and Garp hates the Celestial Dragons. So he stayed a Vice Admiral out of spite, since the Admirals, for the most part, just let him be and only Sengoku has to deal with his shenanigans.

Garp has been compared to Roger for over a decade, far before the Reverie popped up. Guy is "The" hero of the marines. Him being admiral level has been known long before the time skip.

i love marineford for two reasons: first is the fact that we see all these top tiers in one place pretty much, and it really shows how far luffy still has to go to become the pirate king. like even as of now in tha manga luffy still hasn’t surpassed a lot of these guys that were in marineford. and the second one is how we see these forms of haki that weren’t technically revealed until later, like advanced armament and advanced observation

Oda has said that it’s not only seawater that affects Devil Fruit users. Even if its a river or lake, or even the water when they shower, it’ll affect them. Its the depth that matters. When Luffy was in Amazon Lily and fell into Hancock’s bath, he felt weakened even though it wasnt seawater. So since Ivan is on top of ice and not immersed in it, it probably doesn’t effect him that much. Because he was knees deep in the water.

For anyone who didn't know... Sentoumaru was based of momotarou... Momotarou was aided on his travels by a dog, a monkey and a pheasant... Those are the codenames of the 3 admirals... No idea why there was a connection there but I think it might have been a discarded idea considering he was "close" to kizaru when they were introduced
