Great explanation of torque delivery based on type of blower chosen. This is gold for the young guys just learning and making choices about FI. Very educational

A year ago I decided it was time to boost. I caught up on game watching all of Alex’s streams and decided I wanted to feel the r2300 Alex praised. I’m rocking a 69mm with a 20% lower today and I have to say I am so happy I listened to his advice. I am never bored in the car. Put the pedal half way down at any rpm / gear and it puts you in the seat.

I had a vortech on 3.33 pulley on my gen3 now I have an ESS and the tq is wayyy better and in my opinion comes on a bit sooner than vortech.

I have an auto with a paxton and a 3700 stall... perfect combo for me. Drives like stock down low, until you hit it; then it's at 3700 instantly, and the party gets going... I have plenty of traction issues, and I can't imagine having more tq down low with my torque converter... if I had to give that up for a PD blower, meh... I will say that I envy how clean the PD blowers look like installed compared to my snakepit. The torque booster thing looks dumb, seems like more heat and stress everywhere so you get a bit more airflow down low... with the right torque converter, you're not at low rpm for longer than half a second...

Centrifugal all day long, much less heat soak and great gains.
@midnight347
@midnight347 Жыл бұрын
At the boost levels the high compression coyotes see you don't see enough boost to deal with significant heat soak issues. The modern 2650 tvs rotor pack especially the vmp versions are very efficient. Thinking that roots blowers heat soak badly is an old outdated way of thinking. Centris are lazy as hell and for a street car I want more action lower down especially with a stick car. To each their own they both serve their purposes it depends on what YOU like to do with the car. My car is 99% street car so I want instant response and badass torque.

Vmp odin. 2650 rotor pack same that 2020 gt500 and c7zr1 use they have oem reliability and can go over 100k without a rebuild. Odin is the way to go for coyotes imo. Gen3r is same rotor pack if you prefer a rear feed design.

A factor that isn't on a dyno... is total cost and maintenance. Also, who's buying any type of forced induction to stay under 5k rpm?! Reving the coyote engine out is addictive.
@eurly93
@eurly93 Жыл бұрын
The 5.0 is already SUPER lazy below 5k rpm. No reason to go centrifugal and just exacerbate the issue. If you're building an LS / LT platform, then it makes sense because the low end torque isn't lacking

Alex make a vid for those who cant visualize the boost over rpm for all three different power adders, I think once they see X amount of boost at 3k from a TVS vs X amount from Centrifugal unit at the same rpm it will click for em... If not they need a new hobby lol
@midnight347

But roots blowers heat soak so badly omg man haven't you heard? Lol I'm jk I'm tvs all day that is the kind of shit centrifugal guys say. The modern tvs is very efficient especially vmp versions and they have oem reliability and can go well over 100k driven hard without a rebuild. This is another thing alot of people never factor in.

That and everyone bases everything on what can get me to xxx rwhp. They don't even consider the power curve and how they want it to drive just which one can make xxx power any of them can basically break 800 wheel on a coyote with good fuel it's a matter of what sound you like and how you want your power deliver. They will set a goal at xxx power and most times centris can get you there cheaper so that's that lol.

Just your local N/A peasant here, I know why people get centri superchargers then complain about the way it feels. Because they heard one on KZbin or in a car and for some ungodly reason they liked the "jet engine" sound of it so that's what they got without doing any other research. I personally hate the way they sound at idle and the long as psssssssssh from the BOV so you will NEVER hear me complain about the way a centri performs. 😂
@paulp90
@paulp90 Жыл бұрын
It's because people just think centri's sound cool. Same as when the gays loved Termi's because of the obnoxious whine. They don't look into anything other than "it sounds like a jet mannnn!".

@Grant Winburn centris worked well with a fox power curve because they had good torque on motor and limited high end power. The coyote is already a high rpm screamer a Centri magnifies this some may like it depending on what they're doing with the car. For a mostly street car ecsp with a stick shift tvs all day imo. The way they whip up can't be matched even from the twin screws it takes a decenly larger twin screw to match what a 2650 can do which makes it lazier. Even if they were equal size a tvs will still spin up faster by design. I love tvs blowers.
