Also, why dont you zero out your scale each time you add something? That way you dont have ro add up everything. Zero the scale after you put the empty bowl on it. Pour the 255g of cement. Zero the scale. Put 25g of titanium, zero the scale, add the water you need.

Loving your videos as a beginner learning a lot. My question is how about pigment + TD + Cementall ratio? If we use pigment in the mix wouldnt it lower the cement all ratio and disturb integrity? And also do you press your vessels afterwards for solidity? Some of my test vessels break some not I dont know how to test them or if should I :D

I like your channel :) I'm a little confused. I thought the TD or pigment is in addition to the cement all. Because you use up to a certain percentage of the cement all. If your adding the TD in the total grams of everything then your actually using less cement all. Isn't that bad for the integrity? Also you have me scared of selling my candles because of safety issue of cracking. What if someone ignores my safety sticker and burns it 4 hours and it gets really hot. Is it going to break and wax get everywhere or worse? I'm getting scared to do this.
@upvibecandle
@upvibecandle Жыл бұрын
TD should be no more than 5% of your dry mixture. Anything more starts to compromise the integrity of your vessel. If you test your work thoroughly you shouldn't be worried and not to make you feel nervous but pretty much EVERYONE is going to ignore your safety sticker. The human race as a whole will do what they want, forget to do it or avoid it altogether. So, add the label, test your work get great insurance and let the world continue to rotate as it does and you should be fine.

Ok so I actually tried this the other day and something is wrong with the formula because it was wayyyyyyy too much water either I did it wrong or it was wrong on here! I was able to crush the vessel with my hands! I did something wrong. I use this formula, one teaspoon of TD per one cup of cementall. It usually works pretty good.

Lately all my jars break when unmolding them ...is soo frustrating, maybe I use too much water? I mix concrete with water. I do not use hobby concrete, you use "normal" concrete from the DIY shop :(....I leave them hours. I also make candle bowls from concrete, those work fine, but the silicone mold ones not....maybe its a bad mold?

Hi Jai. Thanks for the video. Question........How do you know how much titanium dioxide to use for each jar? I see you used 10% titanium dioxide from the amount of cement all you had. Globmarble has a video where they talk about how it is not recommended to use more that 5% titanium dioxide from the total amount of concrete because it lowers that PSI by a lot. Since these jars are for candles, the strength of the jar is very important for safety. What are you thoughts? Thanks!
@upvibecandle
@upvibecandle 2 жыл бұрын
Great question. When I first started I used 10% and then switched to 5% as going over that amount will start to compromise the vessel. So now 5% is the max I use. To figure out the amount to use just get your total formula amount and multiply that by 5%... and that will give you the amount to add in. Hope that helps.

Why do the parts that are up come out foamy? I make my containers with Cement All, Color Direct, and distilled water. Sometimes I use Titanium Oxide. I have a soft mix left to handle. But when it dries, the part that is exposed to the elements becomes porous.

@upvibecandle

I did a trial an error. I started with way too much and then slowly started to subtract 5 to 10 grams at a time until I was spot on. Also if you have Cement All you need approximately a 4 to 1 ratio of CA to water. Hope that helps.

Can you use titanium dioxide pre 630 and get the same effect?

I have never tried it. I read they are treated by different surface materials. 630 is treated with zirconium & aluminia, but 620 is treated with silica & alumina. With that said they both whiten so I would think you could get very similar results.
