So cool to see some of the actual old issues. Well done, thanks for the review. I'd be interested in reviews of some of the old issues.

Been into citadel miniatures since the mid 1980s and bought white dwarf regularly from issue 93 onwards, but i did manage to get hold of some older issues from older friends who grew out of the hobby, as i did a few years later, these all went into a cupboard for storage, along with several various early publications on the growing UK rave scene at the time, along with those flyers… Fast forward to about 2018, parent downsizing, phone call asking me what im going to do with all those CDs, records and magazines, right away i went and found every issue of White Dwarf i owned, right up to issue 127, when i stopped painting and began raving a lot more. Gotta admit, seeing all those pre issue 100 WD’s really bought back some memories of me painting in my old bedroom in the corner, listening to the top 40 i taped on cassette that week, or being at school drooling over the Eavy Metal pages or most recent metal minis. IDKW but issue 112 really stands out and always has done!

Hello from Scotland! Stoater was Scottish slang for something better than good back in the 20th century. "Aww right mucker! Yer motor's a stoater!" in English would be something like "Hello, Friend! You have a really great car!"

It should have been a nostalgia edition looking 'back' at those 47 years or so. Also The Old World wasn't even mentioned I think !

I started collecting back in 89, when I was 8! Had a long break, and was super excited when I heard about WD500. Very disappointed that it seems GW doesn't address its journey nor its provenance via WD500. Seems like a bunch of random articles aimed at pushing the new mini!

I can't believe it's been so long since I first read WD! It was issue 200 and that also had Grombrindal on the cover. It was my first introduction to Warhammer and the fantasy genre in general!

I'm in a phase of removing certain apps, especially social media and managing my exposure to others. (Like KZbin) With that intro story to some contextual lore, you review made me finally subscribe to Whitedwarf at the ripe age of 34!

I had to give away all my White Dwarfs when I got divorced as I didn't have the storage space anymore when moving to a smaller appartment. But I rarely went back to look at older issues anyway I just liked having them. Firs White Dward I read must have been from the late 80's. I visited London and found a magazine with a dwarf on the over and just knew I had to get it. I didnæ't collect Warhammer (or even knew what it was) back then, but I built model airplanes and things like that. Seem to remember that the magazine talked about alot of different miniatures, so not just Warhammer-related. Sadly that issue got lost way back.

Ah, at least you have the memories of it. Yeah, originally, the magazine covered multiple games because Citadel miniatures hadn't started up yet. It was a general hobby magazine.

I’m really keen to know what all the Easter eggs in the battle report were. I noticed some of the scenery was from old white dwarf issues but otherwise didn’t see any more.

The Stilling is like Depression? I will use that name/term next time I talk with my psychiatrist or somebody ask me "Why the long face". "I have "the Stilling".

16:17 - Reminds me of another word that I first learned in an old White Dwarf; someone had created this massive diorama/vertical-battlefield, and the article about him was just his enthusiastic catchphrase, "That'd be corkin'!"

I'm gonna spend extra attention to your upcoming White Dwarf videos, hoping they will bring in more content for the DarkTide miniatures game.

I cant remember the number of my 1st White Dwarf, but it said "Somethings rotten in Kislev" on the title.

Google seems to think it's issue 109. Neat!

Great show Miranda 😉 I think doing a retrospective on old White Dwarf would be a great idea maybe focusing on issues that had the introduction of new games for example 40k second edition , Necromunda , Blood Bowl, and other great introductory issues. Always great to see these shows. Take care and see you next time.

Great review Miranda. I would love to see videos about old WD issues, I am a nostalgic fan myself. My first issue (that I still keep) is #166 it came with a free space marine on the cover. A few years ago I started to collect old issues so today the oldest issue I have is #93.

Great review, as always! I still have my favorite earlier edition of White Dwarf #44, intoducing the Blood Angels. I look them over at the Hobby Shops While shopping for models. Wish I had picked up all of them, but some focused on other interests than mine.

I'm friends with the guy who did the digital paint overs. He did all the box are for Mantic they have been doing it for years his X/Twitter account is really good to see his works in progress and he will even hook people up with free art of their miniatures every once and a while. One of the reason I wanted this book so bad!
