Pretoria, August 14 -- An affluent white family has decided to spend a month in a Mamelodi shack. Julian and Ena Hewitt together with their two children left the comfort of their Wapadrand plot in Pretoria to experience everyday life in a South African township.

I am a 24 year old young man, and I can honestly say that generally people my age are not racist. I am not saying that there are none. But I don't know of anyone my age that hates people from other races because of their ethnicity or skin color. We as believers, that this world can be rasism free, must stand together and fight for a rasism free future.

They all either hate you openly or secretly. You're an idiot if you actually wholeheartedly believe these people can coexist with us. The fact that many people believe that the younger ones aren't racist is laughable to say the least. It's also extremely pathetic on our part when we praise them for being (or at least pretending to be) decent people. It seems that we always want to feel validated by them. They came here and labeled us "black" and since then we've suffered a great deal under this, coupled with the fact that "black" connotes all that's inherently wrong, bad and negative. You can miss me with that "I'm not like the other ones" bullcrap!

This is what I have always said about South Africa, the problem is, we do not understand each other’s struggles and this is why to point fingers at each other when we don’t understand why we tend to fight for the things we fight for in each and every race. I commend this family for trying to understand the other side!!!! We need to learn about each person’s struggles and understand where we are all coming from and maybe people can band together to fight against the injustice we face as South Africans at the hands of our government, instead of pointing fingers at one another!!! Lovely!!!

@mbigboyny you where obviously taught/conditioned to hate people judging by the outward appearance of skin color! Don't you know we are all uniquely loved and created for a special reason beyond this physical world/ appearance? Do you not realise that this life here on earth is temporary? We all have blood flowing through our veins, which makes us the same color: red. Judging someone just because of the skin tone they where born into is so shallow and misleading, what a waste of time! Nothing is hidden from God's sight and every person will have to give God an answer when their time is up. What will you say to OUR CREATOR when your cord is cut my friend?

I like what they did, the only way to know how it is like, is to experience it! The sad part is of course that a domestic worker earns so little money that they can not improve their standard of living beyond this. But because of very high unemployment rate in South Africa the salaries are kept very low... But this particular family is not to blame for that of course.. :)
