Regina King has really come soooo far! She broke out in the 80s on a show called 227. She played the daughter, Brenda. She was so freaking young then! No one could imagine that she would go so far, but I have to say that as known as she js, i still feel like she is totally under-rated among actors period!

John Witherspoon who plays "Grandad" passed away in October of 2019. He has been in movies such as: Friday, Boomerang, Vampire in Brooklyn and The Five Heartbeats. On television, he was on The fresh prince of bel-air, but he was really well known on the WB comedy The Wayans Bros as Shawn and Marlon's father, "pops." If you haven't seen The Wayans Bros, please try to watch it. Gary Anthony Williams, who plays Uncle Ruckus was in the movie Undercover Brother with Eddie Griffin. He played "Smart Brother."

They're all so talented. I've seen John Witherspoon's standup and he was HILARIOUS! He worked with Richard Pryor and had some great stories about everybody who was on the show, even Robin Williams. His performance in BOOMERANG (with Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, Halle Berry, etc.) is similar.
