Honestly, if I'm going to buy anything that's white colored and it's precious metals, I'll only stick with silver, whether that's sterling, argentium, or fine silver. I find buying white gold completely pointless, because it's gold. If I'm buying gold, it ALWAYS has to be yellow gold, regardless if it's 10k, 14k, 18k or greater purities. Platinum is nice as well but it's always going to be more pricey than gold.

Platinum jewelry is just as expensive as gold jewelry, usually more expensive because Platinum is a difficult kind of precious metal to work with, so basically you're paying a premium for the extensive labor and time of working with Platinum metals. I'm a native american jeweler that has worked with sterling silver, and some gold. I tried my hand with Platinum and they're very difficult to bend, even as thin 20 gauge wire. Plus you'll need a very hot oxy-acetylene flame because Platinum melts at high temperatures that far exceeds that for silver and gold nearly 2x.

@@NoLoveinHellThe only reaction silver has on your skin is tarnishing slowly but it will not do anything to your skin. Only the jewelry gets a little darker. And if you sweat with it on and especially if you trap the sweat in like a jacket collar the chain will turn dark pretty quickly. But there are polishing wipes that are super easy and quick to use and cheap too!

It is really different though. I actually agree with Braden as I usually do. Silvers color is just tacky looking compared to white gold, idk. I have both and white gold all day. Could be a mental thing though. I'm not hating or anything I just agree with him, you should save up and get yourself something nicer instead.

I completely love gold way more than silver (I'm really a yellow gold guy), but that being said, I do occasionally buy silver for both the look (goes well with my watches), and for the fact that the lower price point allows me to try different sizes and links without breaking the bank. When I find something I like, then I save up and buy a gold version. 😌 Thanks, Rich.

I agree, I honestly just buy silver because it simply goes better with some of my stuff, plus gold and silver can look nice together too. But I much prefer my yellow gold, 22kt or at least 18kt

I got a beautiful 10mm hand made Cuban in 999 silver. I’m having it plated in rhodium and that will stop the tarnishing and make it look just like white gold (which is also usually rhodium plated). I usually wear a 14k yellow gold Cuban but I wanted the ability to switch it up and wear a chain that would match my platinum wedding band and stainless steel Rolex. Instead of spending $8k on a similar sized white gold cuban, I have a beautifully hand made chain made of 100% precious metal that gives me the exact same look and it only cost me a few $100 bucks. All of that being said, for a daily chain, I would rather splurge and get gold but for something to wear from time to time for fun, I like the silver with rhodium plating.

I sell jewelry locally, and this is what I noticed. People will think White Gold is Sterling Silver UNTIL they're next to each other, and you're able to do the comparison. However, the actual truth is that Stainless Steel is closer to the appearance of White Gold than Sterling Silver is, UNLESS the Sterling Silver is coated with Rhodium Plating, which makes it 100% impossible to see the difference between Silver & White Gold. I have a Huge Custom Tiger Pendant coming in from a factory I deal with in Hong Kong within the next 50 days or less. If anyone wants to see it, reply, and you'll see how Good Sterling Silver can actually look with Rhodium Plating. This pendant is 3 dimensional, and probably one of the best pendants you'll see in 2024.

Most of my old silver chains are rhodium plated because it was cheap back then. In fact they come (Sterling - nickel -rhodium - 999) plated from the factory. You need nickel for rhodium to bond to silver. Since the EU banned nickel in jewelry they just ecoat it these days or put nothing on it at all

True, it's literally identical to white gold. The Rhodium is going to wear over time, but even then you can always polish is back to looking brand new if you know what you are doing. I know some people say it looks like a stainless, I don't think that's true, it is way more reflective, it is so nice seeing someone who knows this. I actually think Rhodium is pretty cool. But Sterling Silver is the best!!

No. Most of the alloy is silver, which costs $30 per ounce. Furthermore, gold is priced out by the karat. Most apps have the gold calculator by 10k, 14k, 18k and 21k. In the US, 14k jewelry and 24k jewelry are the cheapest, with 10k usually being the most expensive. 18k is almost always priced higher per pure Au gram than 14k or 24k. -Guy who buys a lot of scrap gold

My first white gold purchase was my 4mm Jacoje figaro chain so I am biased! But I have owned a lot of silver pieces before and now that I’ve bought 14k yellow gold and white gold pieces, the maintenance is the hardest part of silver. I love that my 14k pieces look the exact same no matter how long it’s been. 925 silver jewelry has all tarnished on me eventually.

Gold is the Gold Standard - No Doubt. That goes for Yellow or White Gold. Silver will have a slightly more dull hue as compared to Gold. The main reason you will spend the additional money on Gold is the wear factor. EDW with Gold is not a problem. It will hold it's look year after year. While the average Silver chain or ring will tarnish. But, don't get me wrong, I am a Big Fan of Silver as well.

Good video Brayden but I have to say that silver chain you are comparing in this video looks a bit used and the white gold looks brand spanking new freshly rhodium dipped if you buy a new sterling silver chain that's freshly dipped in rhodium you will never tell them apart and. I know a lot of ppl are going to say the rhodium will wear out, and yes, when it does, the white gold chain will turn yellowish, and so will the silver one. So, it's just something to think about, when buying white gold. Silver isn't as expensive as gold but still a precious metal that will last you a lifetime.

I own real gold and silver. The only white gold i own and like is two toned with both white and yellow gold on different peaces. I love the bright white silver jewelry and definitely feel like white gold is a waste of money. With silver, you'll still have real jewelry that is a precious metal & has the same look for a way lower price. As far as the silver tarnishing, all you need is a $10 cleaning salutation and dip your jewelry in for a few minutes, and it's back to its beautiful self. As far as wanting a more grey silver, then have it dipped in rhodium.

The big problem that I have with white gold is that it has to be rhodium plated again after a year, maybe a few years. To me, that costs more that just buying a cleaning cloth as polishing the silver. I personally prefer yellow gold over all.

I prefer wearing 24 karat gold jewelry. I have a 24 karat gold ring that I wear everyday, and a few weeks ago I ordered a 24 karat gold necklace that I have currently on layaway that only costs $544.00. For a 24 karat gold necklace that weighs a little over 5 grams, I felt like I got a good deal, for a prefer 24 karat yellow gold over anything else, even though 24 karat gold can be quite expensive.

I have many private jewelry videos on my KZbin, but these days I prefer Silver over Gold. I no longer like the way Gold looks. Just because someone wears Silver doesn't mean they cannot afford Gold, or pretend it's White Gold. They simply ENJOY wearing Sterling Silver. At one point in History, Silver was more valuable than Gold, but this was long long long Ago.

Rhodium coating silver makes more sense than coating gold…. which is a completely different colour and substantially more money.

I’d probably go 10k white gold there is no difference in color between 10k and 14k in white gold they both have the same rhodium plating I own 3mm 14k white gold rope and 2.3mm power link and a dog tag pendant I recently bought my girl a 10k white gold bracelet and compared the color they look exactly the same color so I’ll probably get a Miami Cuban link in 10k white gold just to save a little money now yellow gold I got to go with 14k I know some people like 18k and 22k but I don’t like that cheesy dark gold color I prefer the 14k brighter color

No matter where you go to wear your jewelry there is always some nosie person that will say, Nice chain is it real gold or silver? lol. Then you are stuck being honest or having to lie. (I wouldn't say I like fibbing) So I always prefer real gold yellow or white I like both. Great video many thumbs up.
