Reaction when Chinese guy speaks fluent English: 😐 Reaction when white guy speaks fluent Mandarin: 😄😱
@Auron7104 жыл бұрын
Yes china is not very multicultural in comparison to the west, and rarely are foreigners born and raised there so, its not often they find white people speaking their language which unless you are specifically interested in china is not very useful when compared to English which is more globally used for communication and business. and with the amount of asians born in western countries plus them learning english in primary school where we would learn french or spanish typically, well its not a shock to see asians speaking english.
@lukehowerter4 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry if you have had that experience. English is my first language, and I think it's awesome to meet people who have learned English as a second language. I'm glad you're a part of our language community.
@MichaelBeale4 жыл бұрын
Auron has the right answer here. I would also add, if we're being totally honest with ourselves-English is just a much easier language. The difference in reactions seems pretty justified to me? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@HackWindows4 жыл бұрын
@Elon Musk wow Elon, very comment such smart
@adamp_4 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelBeale that's very debatable, this seems to me like a fish don't know they're in water situation. The things that make languages easy or hard to learn depend a lot on what languages you already speak; Generally speaking the closer the language is to you native language (or any language you speak), the easier it would be to learn. So if you're a dutch or spanish speaker, english isn't gonna be the hardest language out there, but for speakers of non indo-european languages english isn't that much easier than mandarin is to us. Obviously this is not the only factor, but having learned mandarin I don't find that it's that much harder than english, both are very analytic languages, which means it lacks the sorts of grammatical inflections and irregularities that trip people up so much in synthetic languages. In addition the writing system isn't as hard as people make it out to be, it doesn't feel that much more different than just learning vocab in any other language, you just learn the characters as you go. It is still hard and has an extra layer of memorization (at least at first), but I don't think the challenge it presents is that different from the challenge of learning the obtuse spelling system in english.
