Ok ignoring what everyone else is commenting on this girl's character design, I absolutely love the fox head on the back of her head. That concept is so interesting and creative. It adds a bit of horror with her turning her neck 180 degrees to switch to it, and caught me off guard at first. I just think it's a really neat idea.

In this world that the movie takes place, by the designs of classical Chinese garments and small references to different mythos, it may take place in China. Either they have a similar mythical creature to the Japanese Kitsune, or they just decided to create one with inspiration from it, since it doesn't have it's usual trademark "nine tails" but she's just as mischievous

I really like the way the workshop is portayed, it has so many character giving edges to it; the two faced owner, her minions that aren't what they seem, the dimension box cabinet , the willow wisp lamps and the coin platform changing worlds. The 'just' 4 minutes were perfectly filled - you don't get that really often.

the animation is fine. there's alot of fun concepts in it cuz it's Chinese so things like "face-changing foxes" or "gremlin men with mask heads" will be foreign to everyone else. I love everything about this scene! The setting is remarkably creative and imposing, and I LOVE how she literally has two heads/faces, and how it swivels around, but she must breathe green smoke first. What I adore most about the scene is the half-minute of silence as they ride the "elevator" to the next room. If this were a Disney film, that, too, would be filled up with useless talking, but here, they want you to breathe in the atmosphere, to really get it across to the audience! They do that with the lack of dialogue, and it works perfectly. I LOVE IT. Fucking Disney could never attempt this; it'd probably never even enter their minds. And those little gremlin guys?! They're so creepy--would have definitely given me nightmares if I'd seen this when I was little!

In Chinese mythology the more demon improves the more they become human-like. Usually they become really beautiful to fool humans, so not many interesting looking demons in this movie. not really, both three country had great animation in 3d and 2d.China are a little weaker in 3d animation in my opinion (most 3d animation series had quite stiff movement.I'm not sure is it due to budget or something.) Storytelling is a difficult subject to compare since storytelling comes with many form and people have different taste.

In Chinese mythology, fox spirits like the Owner are capricious and prone to mischief or even harm at a whim, but may decide to help and are very helpful when they do. Usually they don't like people, and thus cause mischief and sometimes death, but you never really can predict what they'll do. That trailer was probably meant to engender the appropriate feelings of uncertainty and unease the audience should feel with the main characters facing such storied unpredictability.

The design of the Kitsune is perfect, and not just from a cinematic perspective. There's so many mythological creatures with removed heads and elongated necks that twisting your head around to reveal a different persona sounds very believable, mythologically speaking.
