The reason the subs say Good Old Buddy and Pops are because of how they address him. His crew call his Pops or Oyaji which is a term for father but a very causal and sometimes insulting one. Then the other crews who fight alongside him use Oyaji-San by adding the San honorific its more like referring to an older very good friend.

Same level, but... Whitebeard is meant to be stronger than Roger. We were never shown as Whitebeard using his DF against Roger. It was mostly a Haki Battle. Whitebeard CANNOT kill Roger, but I'm sure that he could defeat him.

One of the things I like most about this arc is how powerless Luffy really is in the face of everything that happens. Sure, he's got a moment or two so far, but it's more because of who is his family and who he's with than who he is and what he can actually do. It feels like the biggest fish in the tank has been thrown into the sea.

My guess is, “quaking” a person basically puts the full force of an earthquake into the impact. In a sense, just a normal punch technically causes a tremor by itself, but on the Richter scale, it’d mean nothing. Now imagine a punch that’s say… even as low as Magnitude 4, localized into one position and one person. Bones will be shattered to chalky dust with that amount of power.

There is still a debate to this day about who was stronger between Roger and Whitebeard. They are damn near equal but Roger had more of an explorer, adventurer, and flashy spirit about him and fit the whole King of pirates idea. Strength is not the only parameter when it comes to that title. But, WB had the title of the strongest even when Roger was alive. So you can take that statement however you want. A good portion of the OP fandom considers WB to be a little bit stronger than Roger given their portrayal in the series up to this point.
