This is so amazing to me! My grandpa had this EXACT same clock! It's actually now in my possession and hasn't really ran so this video's gonna be pretty useful! I also appreciate knowing the year and make of the clock. So thank you!

I do hope you get it running again. If it has been that long ago, you probably should take it apart all the way and clean it and add fresh oil. Good Luck my friend.

A complex little thing. That looks like the first one I owned back in high school. I got it from the hot lady next door after her divorce garage sale. It had the Coo but no Cuck sound. One of the bellows was ripped and it also had same colors on the bellows too. The head dress always fell off when it would Cuckoo or Coo anyway.

Your first Cuckoo Clock is always a good memory weather it worked right or not. The topper could have been tighten or maybe old enough that the wire hook fell off the roof. Thanks for watching The Drifter.

My clock is similar to yours in video, the 2 leafs and bird on top have 2 metal tension clips instead of nails. Some of the word work is also slightly different, also made with plastic for face.
@justmike57 Жыл бұрын
Some people put the clips on like your because they like them better. As for the plastic frame, I don't mind that because it normally is more detailed, yet I stick to the wood ones when I have a choice. I have an 8 day with the frame made of plastic.

another great video Mike. Loved how the semichrome shined it all up. I have that but most of the time I am too lazy to shine them up. Always enjoy your videos. Keep them coming and may God bless you and yours.
@justmike57 Жыл бұрын
I have said, many times that you don't see the movement and because you shine it up, it will not make it run any better. But I remember in one of your videos, you said that you would not shine it up unless it is for a customer. So I was thinking that my customer is the KZbin fans that watch my videos. Thanks so much for watching Mark. God Bless.

Great video! My cuckoo clock fell off the wall and the chains came out except one which is stuck inside, how do I fix it without spending too much? Tank you!
@justmike578 ай бұрын
On most of my cuckoo clock videos, I show how to install the chain when the movement is out and when the movement is already in the box. With your clock, upside down, you should be able to wiggle the chain that is caught up in the gears to free it's self. While upside down, you should be able to get the chains back on, one at a time by dropping a little bit of chain so the chain can start back on the gear and tip your clock a little to get the other side of the chain on. Or you can just take the ends off the chain and work them in like the videos I have on cuckoo clocks. Just speed ahead in the video to find where I am installing the movement back in the box.

I have this Cuckoo Clock I was my cousin's Clock, she gave it to me It was in bad shape, but it worked When I got it, the hands and topper were broken, and the pendulum was missing Nothing was wrong inside though, the bellows were fine
@justmike57 Жыл бұрын
You should take pictures of your Clock as you take it apart to blow out the dust and re-oil your clock, front and back. If your clock stops running, the book say you need to tear down the movement, clean and oil it so you have a fresh start. The book also says you should do this about every 5 years, (Blow and Oil your Movement). Thanks for watching Baker Family.

Hi mike, i just watched your video. I dont know much about clocks. Mine definetly needs a cleaning. The pendulum stops sometimes, its never been cleaned. Also the weight on the chain dropped and wont hold now. The chain on the cuckoo side slides around. Im not sure what happened. What would have caused that? Its my grandfathers clock and i woukd like to restore it, but have no idea where to start.
@lacymacrae1873 Жыл бұрын
I guess I should have mentioned that it is the same clock as in your video.
@justmike57 Жыл бұрын
Normally you should get familiar with your clock because the clock should be blown out every 5 to 7 years and re-oil the bushings to keep the oil loose and fresh from drying out. The winder, depending on which winder you have might have gotten bent for the clicker or broke off. You can order new parts for the winder or just order a new winder that looks like yours. If you were to attempt taking the movement out and just blowing it out with canned air and using a clock oil, you might get it running good again without cleaning fully, but make sure to take pictures of your clock before you take anything off so you can refer back to the pictures when getting the clock back together. Also, watch the first part of my video for the steps of how to get the movement out. Remember, just oiling the one side you see isn't going to really do anything because the job is only half done.

Hi. Love the videos. I wonder if you could help me troubleshoot my 1977 cuckoo clock, Regala 25 movement. It runs fine as a clock, but chime and cuckoo not working automatically. The right clicks can be heard at about 25 and 55 minutes, but nothing at all happens at 30 minutes, but at the top of each hour the mechanism starts to run for about half a second, with a slight movement of the cuckoo bird and then it locks up. The chime and cuckoo run if I reach in through the side hatch door and press the lifting lever? It chimes and cuckoo's until I release the lever. There is no manual off and on lever fitted. Is there an obvious part that would prevent the mechanism running by itself? I don't want to dismantle unless essential, as never done it before. Do you have any advice? If you had a cuckoo clock that chimed and cuckoo's by pressing lifting lever, but not by itself, what would you check first? Bellows fine, nothing binding or sticking on the rods and cuckoo and door.
@justmike57 Жыл бұрын
If you have to push the side door lever to make the clock cuckoo, then either it has come out of adjustment or it needs oiled and maybe cleaned again. These clocks are open to the air and get dusty inside and that dust collects in the gears and pivots where the oil is. The book suggests to remove your movement every 5 years to oil your clock and you should also use a can of air to blow out any dust in the movement. These type of clocks are a little difficult to work on compared to the newer style of cuckoo clock and that is why they stopped making this kind of movement in 1950.

@@justmike57 it's a regula 25, I thought these were still in production? You can still buy these new online in UK anyway. I intend to extract the movement next week and give it a thorough clean. It will be a learning curve, but your videos on this movement are truly excellent guides.

I need help dating my my 5 leaf 1 loon cuckoo clock. It says herbert herr and "tribers" on the mechanics inside with other writing to the right(possibly in german) it says west German so Its post ww2 I'm pretty sure. The only makers mark is on the mechanism, can anyone help? I couldnt find there "verified sticker" anywhere inside of the maintenance door.
@justmike57 Жыл бұрын
I have tried to date clocks with the design, whistle box and movement and I am always wrong. The only think I can come close to is when the movement has a count wheel because the last year they used a count wheel was in 1950. Some of your newer movements do have the date on them. The small numbers on the back plate are a patton number and you might have some luck there. When the clock says "West Germany" then that tells you it was made after WW2.
