Master Sol was the character that interested me the most when it was announced, and I thought he was the best of the series, and one of my favorites that Disney has done with the franchise, Lee Jung-Jae had by far the best performance of the series, the character has several very interesting layers, and a well-done internal conflict, good scenes, good fights, etc., he will be missed, he was a great character

I see it as an idea, not just a single action. Palps didn't have to fight every jedi. A situation was set up to slowly destroy the jedi without a weapon. Slowly took power from the jedi, more senate control, sowing the seeds of doubt, rising dark side power "clouding everything"

My answer is definitely in the movie The Social Network in which (known terrible person) Armie Hammer plays the Winklevoss twins. There are apparently countless examples of people watching that movie and having no idea that they didn't use twin actors, mostly thanks to the film's flawless use of VFX to merge the actor's performances into a single shot. It never feels like they're shooting around the fact that only one of them can be on screen at once, which is a problem I notice in just about every other execution of the trick, including in The Acolyte.

I did have some problems however, mainly Mae and Osha (I agree with Rick about the chemistry between them feeling weird, no problem with the actress at all). My main complaint is that we need longer and/or more episodes for future projects. I enjoyed this show, but 8 episodes for everything they were trying to cover was not enough, which led to some parts not landing as well with me (more episodes = more time to develop weaker parts e.g. Mae feels less flip-floppy). Overall, 7/10 perfectly reasonable for this kind of show (not everything needs to be perfect). Episode 5 was my favourite episode, easily a 9\10. It seems that hiding the secret for so long he started to rationalize excuses for his actions, like care for Osha or making sure the Jedi learned about the vergence. Great lightsaber sequence between Sol and Qmir. Despite everything Sol was still a very skilled fighter to be able to win against a darksider who defeated 7 Jedi. And Venestra was indeed Qmir's master. Also all her talk about how Sol was a good man who let a mistake fester and change him it was so obvious she was talking about herself and whatever happened with Qmir. She was even lying to the senate and i bet she won't tell the whole truth to Yoda. She is going to use the now without memory Mae to hunt for Qmir and maybe will even end up with the same fate as Sol. I think she will tell the truth about Sol, Indara, Torbin and Kelnacca but hide the part about her old padawan, let it be some unknown Force user that she needs to investigate. I get the feeling trying to kill Qmir wasn't something sanctioned by the Jedi Council before. And so the cycle of lies done by the Jedi keep going until they are fully trapped in the Sith's web. By the way I think Plagueis was spying on them. Wonder if looking for future prospects or checking a possible competition. Great episode and we need a season 2 of this now!😁

That's the thing. Senator Rayencourt isn't wrong, the Jedi *are* trying to control the uncontrollable. Venestra told a half-truth, as Sol did rationalise his actions through his love for Osha. Denying attachment flat-out is the flaw of Jedi code. Understanding duty *over* attachment is the key.

Sol's actor's choices were questionable to me but I think he was conscious of what he was doing, but I felt Sol was off and unJedi like from the get go. Qmir's actor was the only one I thought was strong. The black mother of the twins and Carrie Ann Moss were the only ones who seemed capable under the direction. (They could be decent actors but need more interactive direction). I did think the Osha/Mae actress for a lead needed more ability but she was 100x better than the child sisters. I don't need a sequel but if there is they need to hire an acting coach for the actress if she is going to continue and for the green bald-headed Jedi. They seem to be the ones to continue and then need to step up their acting chops and this could be a whole different show.

Really loved this series. It definitely had some issues that were valid to complain about- the pacing in the first 4 episodes had some really abrupt scene ends that did not work at all, they needed a few more seconds minimum to breath after dialogue scenes where we got a reaction shot of characters or something. And there was some rough dialogue here or there. People online tried to act like this show broke canon and the showrunner didn't understand Star Wars or the lore, but they shut up real fast with the deep cuts she put in like Cortosis, Mad Claw, and the subtle worldbuilding of everyone's Lightsabers being slightly thicker and longer because the tech isn't as advanced yet. But it really does not deserve the 14% that it got review bombed down to. It's like a. 73% for the first 3 episodes, and then a consistent 80% for the rest of the show. With 5 and 8 easily hitting 85% imo.

I can see Sol's concern for the twins like a conservative Christian's concern for children raised by LGBTQ+ parents or white American settlers/parents taking children from Native American tribes/homes for education. There's a John Leguizamo film which just recently came out about that. Seeing some things out of context as Sol did, minus the love amongst the family which is shared, leads them down false concepts of evil or mistreatment. Sol means well, to protect them from harm, yet no harm is occurring. It's fear, it's always fear that innocents are being mistreated which ends causing them to overreach.

How nice do you have to be to intruders? Even the Council told them to cut it out in a rare Jedi Council W. Not saying that Koril was right to escalate, or that I dont like Sol and co, but its the nosiness and arrogance that only the Jedi can do the Force right that gets me. I understand asking for kids from normal parents who cant teach them, but from parents and/or a community thats also Force-sensitive? That's a no from me dog. Love you guys and your dynamic and reactions! Cover-ups as seen in this show make perfect sense for who the Jedi are and have become by the time we meet them even in 1977. The Jedi have built up a mystique over a millennia by the time of Acolyte, and are afraid of losing their power and position and mystique of infallibility. So, it completely follows that someone might cover things up in order to maintain the myth of that infallibility--for the order, yes. But also for self. To passify their own cognitive dissonance.... And not necessarily in a malicious or nefarious way. But in a 'the road to hell is paved with good intentions' sort of way.... Think about what Yoda says in TLJ. He talks about failure being the greatest teacher. But that is exactly what the Jedi have come to try to erase: The idea that their philosophy, their dogma...their WAY is fallibe. THAT'S why Vernestra covers it up! She doesn"t think Qimir is a Sith. She just knows that he represents her FAILURE.... And that is enough. That's the whole crux, not just of this show, but of the whole underpinning of hw the Jedi Order is presented to us. It is the "Ideal" vs the reality that flawed people must try to reconcile and live within that Ideal. I definitely enjoyed the show and hope for a second season. I think it has earned it and that it deserves it.

I don't think I ever listened to an after-episode-discussion so approvingly. You guys seem like the only sane Reactors out there right now. Everything you said about the fandom is on point. Star Wars always had writing issues, acting issues and kinda silly things that probably weren't realistic. If you judge The Acolyte for that, you gotta judge the whole franchise and overall as fans we shouldn't take everything too serious. It's still a story about people fighting with glow-sticks, TIE-Fighters screaming in Space and beeping droids everyone seems to understand and we are here to have fun! Also: yes, not every new Star Wars thing needs to be like Andor! Thank you. Someone finally said it! Andor was great, but just one point of view, one unique style of a story, of many stories in this universe. There's so much to tell in that giant galaxy far far away and it shouldn't be all the same stuff, directed by the same two people. It's funny how for many haters, a point they are ranting about the most is the diversity, when Star Wars takes place in a galaxy with thousands, possibly MILLIONS of different cultures and races. How could it not be diverse? Why should we focus on a cast that's only white and blonde humans, not interacting with any new and different cultures, species, droids etc.? It's silly how they claim they just want more of the old stuff, when back then they ranted about The Force Awakens, cause it was a "soft remake" of A New Hope. I feel like there are some people in this fandom, who will never be satisfied, but we shouldn't let our enjoyment be spoiled by them. Keep up the great work, guys! :)
