I think I am one of the few people who actually found the story of the doll across the films quite easy to understand. Perhaps my brain just works in a weird way. But the way I see it, (deep breath)... Annabelle the girl dies, a demon pretends to be her and gets invited in to the doll, the doll/demon causes chaos as it wants Mrs Mullins soul, it gets locked in the room, but it gets more powerful as the girls arrive, it plays on Janice's fears, the more fearful she is, the more powerful it gets, it possesses her and becomes even more powerful because it now has Janice's soul, which means it can do more (such as move the scarecrow at the same time it's controlling Janice). Janice gets adopted and grows up, creating a cult to gain more souls. She comes home, kills her parents and goes next door and finds the doll, hence her line "I like your doll", I think the demon is gleefully surprised to find the original doll it used next door (or at least one of the range of the dolls, as at the beginning here it said 1 of 100), so when Annabelle/Janice is killed it needs another host quickly and attaches to the doll, where it tries to take another soul to possess another body. The doll eventually ends up with the nurses, which leads to the beginning of the Conjuring film. Albeit, it is a bit convoluted, and yes one or two bits are stretching the rules a little, but it still makes sense to me, and I think that it kind of hints that there are no accidents. I think this is the best of the Annabelle films as it tries to do something different with it's scares. Just my thoughts (my looooong train of thought)

The Warren's explained in the first conjuring the three stages of possession. 1-infestation, 2-oppresion, 3-possesion. The demon goes for the one most psychologically vulnerable, and it went for Janice as she was suffering from depression and feeling lonely. This movie is set in 1955, and apparently the first stair lifts to be produced commercially were advertised and sold in the US in the 1930s, so the Mullins’ could definitely have one in their house.

the doll isn't specifically important, it's more about the dolls journey and how it ends up in unfortunate situations that leads to it getting possessed. like it could've been any doll in her position. (i also just started this video so this may be figured out later on lol)

The Annabelle movies are definitely not on par with The Conjuring (mainly because of the lack of the Warrens) but this is usually considered quite good and easily the best one of the 3. I love how it ties in with the first one even though the story doesn't really make sense. Stella is right, only a priest can listen to a confession. Also, Miranda Otto who plays Mrs. Mullins was Éowyn in LOTR. There is a post-credits scene that shows Valak (The Nun) floating down a hallway. Very creepy.

This is the only film out of the Conjuring franchise I own, and I personally enjoy the absence of the Warrens, who in reality were complete shysters, and I find it annoying having them propped up as heroes in most of this series. This film has the decency to not pretend to be based in reality...it's just a fun spooky story.

It's like the Warrens said, the doll is a conduit, it's the easiest thing the demon can use to get around besides a person. When its human vessel (Janice) is in danger of being killed, it hops back into the doll to use it as a conduit again because of course a doll is going to be passed around, especially one as weird as that one. It's the kind of doll my mom would have bought for us as kids because we loves weird, spooky stuff. As far as the scarecrow goes, it's just an easy temporary conduit that the demon can hop into in order to get close to someone and the reason it goes back to the Annabelle doll is because it's the better conduit. The same thing happened with the necklace in The Conjuring. Bathsheba used it as a conduit because of the connection to the Warrens home, which allowed it to be brought to a place full of demon houses. Then the demon is allowed to prey on the weak and vulnerable. It was able to prey on the parents because they had just lost their child, it was able to prey on Janice because she felt lonely and isolated, it preyed on the family with the baby because she had just become a mother, leaving her in a state of physical and emotional vulnerability, then in Comes Home it preyed on the girl who was trying to contact her father. It's like predators in the wild, they almost always go for the sick, the young, or the old. They don't want healthy and strong because that means they can put up a better fight.

But then again...lots of girls had or played with Raggedy Ann dolls (me included) my grandparents had several I used to play with when I was little and I even had a Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy tea set. I was pleasantly surprised by how this turned out. It’s much more effective than the first film. This fixes some of the problems that the first film had and improved it here. It’s got great actors, interesting and developed characters, a dark and suspenseful atmosphere, and some good jumpscares that keeps your heart pumping. I also thought the performances from the two little girls were really good. Huge improvement over the first film. Major props to David F. Sandberg for making another fun horror film.

Easily my favorite of the three Annabelle films. Another neat little tie in to the universe, is the picture the nun, Charlotte I think, shows to Mr. Mullins, shows some nuns at a convent in Romania. It is the same convent featured in "The Nun," and the unidentified nun in the pic is Valak, the demon.

Then eventually take their soul and move into the person. Also (correct me if im wrong) since she was limited edition and more than one Annabelle dolls exists, the one gifted by the husband in the first might not even be the same one, especially since its so nice looking. "Annabelle" just saw the doll again while in their house to attack them and got moved back into a doll when she died possessed holding the doll. Idk haha this demon just like creepy dolls 😂

Here's a quick and easy explanation for the doll! Annabelle 1 dies and a demon impersonates her with the doll as it's tether in order to find a human host. The possessed doll is locked into a closet and sits there waiting for a host. Janice becomes said host after stumbling across the doll. Janice escapes after being locked in that same closet escaped and assumes the name Annabelle. She's adopted by the Higgins family and eventually joins a cult. When she enters Mia and John's house she realizes they have the doll that was the original tether for the demon so when she dies the Demon enters the doll once more!

After Annabelle kills herself in the first movie & her blood dripped onto the doll signifying it’s return, Mia & John left the doll and it found its way to an Antique shop where a woman studying to be a nurse buys it for her daughter (leading into The Conjuring). 2 nursing students (in the beginning of the Conjuring) gave it permission again and then called the Warren Family.

In the first conjuring movie it opens with the 3 college girls meeting with the warrens asking them about the Annabelle doll , remember Ed said it’s a demon that’s tourmenting them and that demons can’t posess things , dolls etc, only people . We find out later that the demon uses the doll as a conduit , it’s an evil conduit and that demon has an attachment to the doll for some reason, we learn that the demon moves the doll, rocks the chair it’s sitting in to scare the children , it can’t always be seen but the doll is a ohsucsl object so moving it around gives the idea it’s the doll but in this movie there are multiple scenes whee you can see 2 yellow eyes of the demon behind the Annabelle doll but up near the ceiling , look close . Regarding the scarecrow , it’s believed that powerful demons will target individuals specific fears to torment them and break them down. When the nasty mean girls sees the scarecrow early in the movie , we see the others don’t mind it but that girl is horrified of it, so it used the scarecrow to torment her further. There’s no history behind the scarecrow but this demon is one of the most powerful in hell so it definitely could mess with all sorts of fears, remember it’s now killed Annabelle’s parents , murdered terrible and hung mrs Mullins mocking a crucifix , the amount of evil in the homes after that would be so thick you could cut it with a knife, ALL the children and the nun are TERRIFIED , in total fear and panic , all feelings that chase light away and gives power to the demon . Think of it like the Christian belief that prayer, faith , hope , love invite the spirit near, angels. Etc those things are good and light which chases away darkness as the light gets brighter . Everything in the universe has its opposite this is true in physics , astrophysics , the universe, and religiously , Gods opposite is Satan, Gods described a pure Love , faith hope , peace , everything that feels good, the Bible aid when Christ and God appeared to prophets they were so pure they couldn’t look straight at them. Interesting thought where God and Jesus Christ are the only perfect beings. Their goodness literally shines through them like th sun. When the Bible talks of Satan and his angels (demons) they’re always refered to as darkness , shadows , looming in the dark shadows . Physically and spiritually light and darkened Cabot exist in the same place, light is much more powerful than darkness , darkness can’t block out light , it’s simply the Absebse of light . God, goodness, Love , happiness , hope all reside in Gods kingdom. They can’t exist in hell so hell is “outter darkness” , fear, anger , regret , hatred. All through the Bible are stories and instruction that if you have enough faith in God, which is love and hope you can move mountains . That faith and love and hope and happiness invite angels to protect you, brings God closet and pushes darkness and all included the opposite way. The opposite is Satan and his angels , they also operate by the opposite feelings of good, if you feel hteninstead I’d love . Fear instead of bravery. Despair instead of hope , hopelessness instead of faith your surrounding yourself in darkness , literally pushing light away. Satan and his angels (demons ) and the same ability to affect mankind on earth but wants the opposite, wants mankind miserable and angry and sad so goodness is chaises away . As demons start the tiniest little things to haunt you, the more fear you feel, etc the further god and his angels are so the more powerful and ability they have . It’s live have a negative faith in evil. If a demon can convince you it’s real and terrify you, maybe you see a shadow figure , if you’re positive you saw it, it’s giving thst demon more power becasue while it’s fear . It’s still a known thing you give it so much more ability to attack harder. If you’ve ever experienced a haunting or evil presence it starts off small and grows with more fear and regularity constantly. Your fear gives it strength. The Bible constantly talks about praying in your darkest times ,..it’s because it literally will push the demons away and invite God . These poor orphans are SO terrified the demon the growing more powerful by the minute.

I saw this one in the theaters and yes it has a lot of good jump scares and good gore as well,but sadly it failed to impress me all that much. There was so many things they could have used like the scarecrow coming to life and things like that but instead they showed the demon way too many times for my liking which to me takes away from the scare factor. I will say that it is one of the better ones in the fanchise though and the actors did an amazing job as well and yes it's nice to see what Annabelle's orgians are as well and I liked how it tied into the first movie at the end. Personally i liked the third one better but not many agree with me on that one. Any way good reactions as always and hope you enjoy the third one when you see it.

Girl on the left is thinking about it to deep. It’s not that hard to follow. The story of the demon and the doll is pretty simple. You also have to remember the 3 stages of possession the warrens described. 1. Infestation 2. Oppression 3. Possession. It inhabits a place. Then preys on the weakest person there. Then it’s possesses said person. The warrens also stated the doll is just a conduit to evil spirits. So yea the main demon we see is using the doll as a way to inhabit places and prey on the weak so it can get a soul. The warrens also said it causes other spirits to stir up. Using this knowledge, if you look across all the films, it’s pretty easy to see what the rules are. Oh and the 2010’s was really not the era where paranormal horror was pioneered. That belongs to the late 70s-80s.
