To answer your question lol: class 4 weapons in the purge universe are rocket launchers, grenades, bombs, flame throwers, etc. explosives and things like that Class 5 weapons in the purge universe are on totally different destructive scales; nukes, hydrogen bombs, harrier jets, missiles, etc. true military grade weaponry and equipment

An important thing to remember with the series is the emphasis on class warfare. I know if feels like cheating with the rich people but across the country are bird hunting grounds where the wings are clipped so they can’t fly. Rich people pay tens of thousands to hunt a bird that can barely move. One of them became famous because Dick Cheney shot his friend in the face at one of those parks. The “hunting ground” in this movie always reminded me of that.

so there a two season show on the Purge and I recommend the second season; it deals with everything that happens right after the purge answering questions and things you guys brought up of how things are manage, the clean up, people who committed a crime one second after the final siren, and conspiracy

I’ve literally had some of my high school students say them and their parents would want to use immigrants for target practice. Or that we should stop testing on animals and test on homeless people instead. I even tried to mention that a lot of veterans are homeless, to try to appeal to their more patriotic side, but they said they didn’t care🙃 They even tried to write their persuasive essay using that topic, but I shut it down. Some of these teens (and their parents) terrify me. I could totally see them wanting to participate in the purge if it was a normalized event.

Btw technically flamethrowers aren’t classified as weapons. Because they’re farming implements! In fact you can literally order a flamethrower without a liscense because of it being a farming implement to control burn crops or forest. It’s pretty scary realizing that. Higher expectations. Casting, action, suspense, horror and even more of the unexpected in this universe. People being caught out there on this night, trying to fend for themselves was as scary as imagine. Staying alive till the morning is no cake walk. I assumed that The Frank Grillo character (Leo Barnes, LAPD) was really trying to save people. But was more anti-hero than seen in the trailers. He was dropping these crazies like flies. Could've been casted as The Punisher (I agree). It was so repulsive to see the rich and wealthy act in a 'neo-addictive' way on this night. Craving to be rid of the lower classes as an sport of enjoyment. But since that first film, you indeed understand that this 'One Night A Year" is not cool with everyone. Somebody would to protest against it in one way or another and I was all for it. RIP to Michael K. Williams (Carmelo Johns, the anti-purge rebel leader).

Just wanted to point out since it came up a lot in the reaction. IRL, weapons in America are divided into 4 classes. Class 4 weapons are any kind of device that explodes or shoots fire. This includes nuclear weapons, so suffice to say, claiming that "Class 4 and below are legal" means that literally everything is illegal. Unless, of course, the Purge universe has its own classification system, which it may seeing as there is a Class 5 and above. In either case, we can assume that the minigun, flamethrower, and even an RPG would be fair game on Purge Night.

Oh also, broadly speaking, flamethrowers are legal in most of America. This is due to flamethrowers not being otherwise classified, so they fall through a crack in laws. Ammunition for an M2 Flamethrower would be nearly impossible to find, though. California requires a permit to own a flamethrower, and Maryland has banned them. So that guy with the flamethrower is virtually indistinguishable from the guy with the machete, legally speaking.

You can technically create this, but it's highly dangerous, so good luck. Other flamethrowers, like the infamous "aerosol can and lighter", use alternate fuels, such as methane or propane. These are pretty much the flamethrowers that a citizen can legally own, and they're much less effective than a military flamethrower. That all said, if you're walking around with a flamethrower in broad daylight, don't be surprised if the cops shoot/arrest you, because no one just weeds their garden with a gout of searing flame.

But they make the 2nd season and this is why I remember it but the second season. It starts at the end of a purge so you see how they classified. Weapons during a purge then what happens if you break the law after The Purge and the cleanup. Basically it shows the working of the people behind The Purge and how it's run. That's why I like the second season more because it show how they run The Purge rule wise. Then how they enforce the law after The Purge and before the next Purge. Along with some of the cleanup that happens after The Purge. In a way it shows more disturbing things then the actual purge. Because it shows the mental process of the people behind the Purge.

Each movie gives insight into why these things are happening. There's so many twists and turns while each movie gives so many answers to the one before it. As for 'The Purge' movies, I stopped watching after the 2nd one. It just went in such a different direction from the 1st one and became boring to me.*

I wouldn't say that the movies get better as they go (the first one is still the best), but they didn't go quickly down-hill in the way that most "horror" franchises usually do. Also, the season two of Purge TV show on Amazon goes more into the behind the scenes organisational kinda stuff for the annual purge.

The answer to the question that how does the government know about whether certain people are using class 4 or below weapons or not is basically explained and shown in season 2 of the Purge series.. S1 and S2 are completely different storylines and not linked so u can choose to skip S1 and watch S2.. personally I like the unique way in which they portray different storylines in S2 of the Purge and they show different ways of how it effects people.. I would recommend it for sure

I dont consider purge a horror movie actually.. Dystopian movies like this gives you perspective that there will always be people that will stand on the side of the extremes if you give them the opportunity and freedom to do it. Humans will unleash their craziness if you give them that right.. The question is how will you survive living in a world that gives each person full liberation to be crazy. The only way you will enjoy dystopian movies is to not think outside the box but to deal with whats inside the box. The next Purge movie is action genre and very political .. Nothing horror at all but I love it because it shows that there are also people opposing the extremes, trying to survive, and protest against the Purge holiday which is now accepted by society as normal after years of implementation.. Its like asking yourself how will you make a crazy society sane gain? I really enjoyed the next franchise and I hope you guys will react to it.
