Telling you Broc, I had this discussion with a friend yesterday. The big 80's arena rock stuff is awesome in many cases. And there was a generation that was raised on it. I caught the tail end of it in terms of when I was becoming interested in drumming. And to get out and play, I played with guys older (and much better) than me so this was their stuff. But in those first few years of playing, here came the 90's and musically - that's what stuck with me the most. But, I think in both decades, the massive songs have a common thread in that the drums were tastefully done and played for the song. I've got to get back on the 70's train on here LOL! WAY too much stuff I dig from that decade that I'm not giving enough love to. Appreciate ya my friend!

I guess I would have been just behind you when I saw them! They came through Kentucky as a headliner and I think it was 1991? Motley was right behind them at this particular arena so I remember they were fairly close together in terms of scheduling. But, even as big as they were, they put about 60% in the place. Motley...........they couldn't fit another person in that place if they tried. I've got such fond memories of both shows man. For Whitesnake, once the lights went down, I actually went up and got to the side of Aldridge so I could watch him from above. It helped me sorta understand what all I was hearing. So many folks before KZbin don't understand - the struggle was so damn real 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks so, so much for the awesome comment! 🤘🤘🤘

So greatly appreciated and I missed your M80 upload. Just finished it. I'd never heard of that but that looks pretty damn cool! I don't dampen the snare much but for sessions, sometimes it's called for and I tried the Big Fat Snare deal but it wasn't quite my speed. Last time, I just threw a shirt over it. So let the M80 folks know you very well sent 'em a customer. Hope you have a great weekend Spiro!

What up Priyadarshan! Well, I fully admit I sure dig this tune and I dug the band. Their big time period was a bit before I really (like "really") got into drumming but I have to admit they flat out hit the Epic button on this whole record. And strangely, as much as I ended up digging Tommy Aldridge on the live side (and Aynsley Dunbar in the studio), I really was drawn more to John Sykes than anyone. Such an incredible talent and to think - he did this at the age of 25 or thereabouts. To me, that's incredible! Can't thank you enough for checking it out!

Man, I broke out the between the fingers stuff in this one and...........well, it's a move I hadn't used in a while so let's just say a few got away from me LOL!!! I never have been able to get a clean, consistent twirl with just fingers but that's a trick I do want to break down. There's a method to it. To me, the method is called "Watch Tommy Aldridge in super slow motion over and over" HAHAHA! Congrats again on the 100 subs and just wait - hundreds more on the way!

Trey this is awesome man I still remember when this album came out it was so wicked and I wore out that CD back in the good ole 80's. Your drumming on this of course outrageously awesome, perfectly suited to your style and lots of room for your stick gymnastics. You should call your studio the stick gym, I mean your drumming is a workout for sure! Have a great weekend brother!

Jeff dude, in all honesty this type of stuff is probably most in my wheelhouse. And I like using the channel for two things. First and foremost, I want it to entertain. But I also think this platform is a great way to keep from becoming complacent. Like everyone else already knows, it takes two clicks to find a player who seems outer worldly. Hell, all I gotta do is click your channel for that fix! But the good old fashioned blues based four on the floor rock, that's where I sit back and feel at home. But..............you know I love me some harder stuff too.....LOL! Think the absolute world of ya Jeff!

@@TreyBDrums dude I am 100% in agreement with you, I love an awesome catchy song over anything too brother. I love difficult and highly technical stuff but in a different way, kind of like a physical thing like a gymnastics performance rather than an artistic thing. I literally tell every one I know about your channel and they all agree on your wickedisity. Mad respect to you brother!

Yo Ray! Man, when I started actually gigging / touring / etc., it was a weird time as you'll remember. In the early 90's, the "hair metal" stuff was on its last leg and AIC, Nirvana, etc were all showing up. But I fully acknowledge that as much as guys like Vinnie Paul played a role, so did Tommy Aldridge and Mr. Lee. Those were all drummers I took in during those years where I was trying to just create my own approach. And honestly, they are all monster players so a lot of us were lucky to have those kinds of players to look up to dude. Thank you my friend!

Hell yes my man! One of my favorites from the self titled album! I always lost the hi hat timing during the break lol! You played it with conviction and nailed the kick timing which is also oddly hard to do especially with the drumless track!! Props to Ansley Dunbar who was the studio drummer on this album
@TreyBDrums4 жыл бұрын
Mike, I know this hits you - they had Cozy Powell, then went and did this album with Aynsley Dunbar and the following tour, they had Tommy Aldridge. To me, that in and of itself is amazing! Those are three ICONIC drummers. Not good drummers - flat out iconic. On the timing for this one, I did a manual click track. I sat in the drum room and hit a cowbell for 6 minutes and change. I think that helped some. My God - I wish you could have heard your Love In An Elevator cover in my car. It slammed and sounded like the damn album bro

Aynsley Dunbar played the drums on the original. Excellent playing, very intense. Another stick the could not keep up with you? I did not even see when it went bad.
@TreyBDrums4 жыл бұрын
Yo BD1! Stick was just getting wobbly and that's a LONG ass song so I wasn't gonna wait around for it to break. And dude, as you know - Aynsley is an OUT OF THIS WORLD drummer. Massively ahead of his time. And who did they bring in for the tour? Aldridge, who was ALSO massively ahead of his time. And prior to that, they were running around with Cozy f'n Powell. I'd say Whitesnake can feel good that they've had iconic drummers about every step. Gotta head over and check your newest cover my friend!
