THIS is the Whitesnake I love! The "hair" version was just another 80's cliché. (post "Slide It In" the UK version!) This version was a unique and powerful blues based band. More "commercial" doesn't always produce better fruit. Love this stuff!!!

@@leftinlister829 hi, yes i did,😁, both bands were amazing that weekend, both Gillan and ufo were sat eve, Gillan first, and later UFO headline sat eve. Other bands included ,maiden, mantis, pat travers(my personal fav)..and many more, ... looking back it was so good. All those bands, 3 days inc camping £18.50,($20.00).. i did every Reading festival from 1975 till 1983, and again 1987..but then promoters changed in 1988 ..and the old Reading ROCK festival, as i knew it, had gone..(R.I.P.)..i guess a Torch was passed forward back then.. and has since been passed forward many times since. Looking at the 2021 Reading Festival..

@@deano.t.6317: They changed the site in the late '80s, didn't they? I only went to two Readings, in '82 and 2001 (as guest of a band playing). Remember a sense of space. Did Pat Travers have Pat Thrall and Tommy Aldridge when you saw them? That's what you call a good line-up. :)

Can we quit the moaning that this was the only "real" Whitesnake? Coverdale knew the band had to evolve. Of course this was wonderful, but so were the '83 - '90 versions. 1987 was their Rainbow Rising.

Lord/Paice era WS was the Rainbow Rising era. 1987 onwards were the Joe Lynn Turner years. Of course Coverdale had to eat, so he went the the poofy hairy MTV way. Don't blame him one bit, but to say this was the same band, but the name... Nah.

@@mikaelbiilmann6826: "Poofy and hairy" is hilarious, have to say! I should've explained it better. I don't prefer the later albums to the pre-MTV ones (my first live gig was Bournemouth, 6.11.'78, and it was emotional), but I think they maintained the standards and made good choices with Galley and Sykes. Guilty of Love and Still of the Night were perfect for a heavier direction, and Give Me All Your Love had the feel of the earlier band. Vandenberg and Campbell were more exciting additions than Joe Lynn Bunsen-Burner, for me at least, and Vai was a whole new box of tricks.
