Thanks for sharing. And it is always nicer to have a friend with you. I'm also curious about the people you meet on these Islands. In your first year you showed more of them. I just think the people you meet are part of the adventure. You are an inspiration. :)

Hi +Timothy Martin, you mean the local people? Since I was back, I was only two weeks in San Blas and there had not been that many encounters cause I was working quite hard to get Karl ready and did not go exploring much. Whenever there is a good chance to film interactions with locals, I try to do it. Sometimes it is just not the right setting or not enough time. But no worries, there will be more footage of people I meet during the trip for sure. Guess being back I was a bit focused on getting Karl ready and going sailing :). We met a nice couple on Isla Fuerte that had a house there and they invited us to come and visit. People are very curious here, open and friendly, it is pretty amazing!!! I will also try to write some blog posts about the destinations...so maybe I can include some more info on the people there as well. Cause you are right, it is the people you meet under way that make your stay interesting!! Ahoy, Nike & Karl

Thank you for another great vid! Wow.... Karl was really doing his thing!!! Am I imagining things or is Donkey Island in a very dry region? No vegetation? Few Gardens? or just poverty? Anyhow! Thank you -- eye opener about Colombia!
@WhiteSpotPirates
@WhiteSpotPirates 9 жыл бұрын
The island was a bit dry, that is true, but not in away that nothing grew there at all, they did have quite some trees and bushes. But people do not cultivate much there in their gardens. In comparison to other destionations like Guanaja, Honduras, where everyone was growing something somewhere. Might just be the soil...or they are just not into it... Ahoy, Nike & Karl

Enjoy your video, all aspects. been meaning to ask, Do you like your folding dingy? steve
@WhiteSpotPirates
@WhiteSpotPirates 9 жыл бұрын
Hey Stephen Harriau, I do love it for rowing, yes. And if I would get around to build the missing daggerboards, sailing it would be more fun as well. It only supports a 2 horse power engine...and I don't know how well it would work with that. But for me, rowing it and sailing it sometimes, it is perfect!!! Ahoy, Nike & Carlitos

You are a very inspiring lady! I have been watching a lot of KZbin sailing videos. Right now I’m handicap and do not have a job. As soon as I make money. I want to buy a sailboat sail from the southeast United States to the Gulf of Mexico to Colombia and Panama so I can one day get to the French Polynesia islands. Do it solo like you maybe have a dog to keep me company when nobody is sailing with me.

Why is your mainsail always reefed or not used at all? It's your main HP when sailing, shake it out and reef the jib
@WhiteSpotPirates
@WhiteSpotPirates 9 жыл бұрын
Hi +805gregg, what do you mean by not used at all? Well, it's reefed when there is wind...and when I sail solo e.g., I always reef for the night, especially the main cause for reefing that I need to leave the cockpit. So it's also a security issue...And usually the jib is also reefed when the main is reefed. I guess with more time and more experience I might reef less but for now I feel more secure this way. When there is more than 15 knots I usually start to reef... Ahoy, Nike

Just curious about your navigation. Do you have paper charts aboard and a chart plotter or is it all line of sight?
@WhiteSpotPirates
@WhiteSpotPirates 9 жыл бұрын
Hi +Jesse Pusheé, I mainly use an app called SEAiqOpen for navigation and if I can find, paper charts, and aditional cruising guides or waypoints / tracks from other cruisers. I also have Open CPN set up on my computer as a back up...and of course, lots of good old eye ball / shades of blue navigation :) Ahoy, Nike

Hi +atycolo, nope...sorry, it was just the circumstances...We really try to do them weekly...but sometimes things come in the way and it does not work out :(. And doing one the following Monday e.g. and the next one for friday is usually too much in too short of a time...so we decided to skip one and send it the next friday. But we are really trying to make them weekly and trying to improve the workflow and all not to make you wait too long :). Thank you for your patience! Ahoy, Nike

Hi +Timothy Martin, if you look into the description of the videos, you will see that they are not live. There is about a three month of delay between filming and posting. Partly due to security, but also due to the time it takes to sort the material, edit etc. Ahoy, Nike P.S. Sorry this weeks video did not make it on time...but there will be one next week.
