Wilkes was outspoken against Lincoln before and supposedly during the performance had said something similar while being thrown out for disorderly conduct( most likely drunk). Supposedly this happened early in the first act. Most of this “fact” was based on random journals of friends,etc so who knows really but very intelligent joke with lots of layers in typical WKUK fashion
