Most everyone talks about her voice, but the way she sings and uses her voice, her technical ability is top notch. Whitney expresses lyric through melody like no other. This has to be one of the most powerful, generous, nuanced and beautifully expressive, moving, surreal performances given by an artist in ANY genre. I couldn't imagine Donny Hathaway not being proud to have his song sung to this standard.

Agreed but I truly believe this 1986 London performance I have on my channel (the only upload I have, so it will be easy to locate) is the greatest live vocal performance (from a contemporary singer) ever captured on audio. In this 13 min rendition of 'I AM CHANGING' (originally sung by Jennifer Holliday) she unleashes the full weight of her powers, like a 300 foot tall, 3-headed 🔥 breathing dragon🐉🐲 incinerating everything and everyone in it's path. She takes her time in the first few minutes just to lure you in- then she takes off like a scud missile launch. It is truly breathtaking, wonderfully exhausting and I cannot imagine a universe in which this performance can be matched by any other vocalist. Just be sure to wear headphones and let NOTHING distract you for 13 mins. It's an experience that demands your full attention. The lyrics are in the description. I'd love to know your reaction. Feel free to comment either here or on the video itself on my channel Cheers 🤗

She was such a fearless singer. She was able to lose herself in the song and not worry about whether it was too much or too little she just sang and gave it to us how ever she felt it. Yeah, you are right she didn’t SING THE SONG, she was PERFORMING IT but it was one HELL OF A PERFORMANCE and MS GIRL DESERVES AN ACADEMY AWARD FOR THIS ONE!!! I heard others from the NEW SCHOOL do it and all I have to say is, give me this version any day or DONNY HATHAWAY OR TEMPTATIONS version, NOW THAT IS KEEPING IT REAL!!

Whitney sang (I have nothing if I don’t have you.) This is how so many of us feel without her here on earth with us. There’s no one here like Whitney, The Voice, Nippy. We have no one to sing to us like you. Our Queen of music👑🎶🎶🎶💖✨🙏🏿✨We will always love you😘💖✨🙏🏿✨

I've been so many places in my life and time I've sung a lot of songs I've made some bad rhyme I've acted out my love in stages With ten thousand people watching But we're alone now and I'm singing this song for you I know your image of me is what I hope to be I've treated you unkindly but darling can't you see There's no one more important to me Daring can't you pease see through me 'Cause we're alone now nd I'm singing this song for you You taught me precious secrets of the truth withholding nothing You came out in front and I was hiding But now I'm so much better and if my words don't come together Listen to the melody cause my love is in there hiding I love you in place where there's no space or time I love you for in my life you are a friend of mine And when my life is over remember when we were together We were alone and I was singing this song for you We were alone and I was singing this song for you
