So beautiful that her cousin Dionne Warwick was there to support her! This had to be scary and hard at the same time. She knew her challenges at this point in her career and still pulled off a performance that, though not up to her legendary status, was still solid for this time in her life!

Whitney Fan I think they meant what would she sound like at this age without ever have been using drugs. Even with the best technique, her voice would've been different than what it was ten years prior.
@90sKidsSchoolLibrary9 жыл бұрын
I agree! People who have never touched drugs such as Barabra Streisandor Celine Dion both sound different then what they did in there prime. Still have strong voices but not what it use to be.The way Whitney use to sing live in concerts I believe that also played a part in the damage of her voice. Not resting and doing shows back to back in the 80's and 90's.

She looked great, she had fun and I feel the performance was her wonderful passion to entertain. To perform like that is exhausting with the choreography, the singing, the wardrobes and trying to hit all your cues, oookay really! If she was sober or not NONE OF US WILL NEVER KNOW and its really not important. What I have learned WE LOVE EVERYONE FOR WHO THEY ARE AND NOT WHAT WE THINK THEY SHOULD BE LIKE! We have the choice to choose who we want to surround ourselves with but never look down on others because of shortcomings or lifestyles, He will be there for them. Just love them and wish them (the addicts) the best, WE EVENTUALLY GET IT!!! I miss Whitney too, the lost was devastating but its NOT MY PLACE TO JUDGE, she rests now...

2009-2010 the problem she had was that one moment she could blow you away with her vocals and the other moment your like wtf is going on. She could still sing better than most but you just had to catch her on the right day. Lol I miss whitney voice and by now I'm sure she would have had another album out.

We won tickets to this. It was performed the show before they announced the winner but they played this the night they announced the winner (Donny Osmond) on TV. When Whitney came down the stairs the first time she tripped a little so they ended up having to film the entire performance a second time. They had to sweep up all of those dollar bills, which must have taken at least 45 minutes. A lot of the celebrities that were in the front row had to leave so they moved everyone up to make it seem like more people were still there.

Her vocal technique might still have been there but her breath support was shut because of the devastated state of her lungs. I'm quite sure it was smoking (all kinds of it, basically inhaling fumes) that killed her voice and not the drugs themselves.

+J.Maxinta so true. And then you have singers like Tina Turner who weren't able to preserve theirs in later years because of vocal strain. I'm sure all of the rigorous hours she worked during the Ike & Tina days did nothing but overwork her voice. It's so sad when legends lose it. But thank god for the recorded audio to listen to for years to come.
@jimmylee16587 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure, here. Of course, her voice has been affected by many things or substances. However, I believe the acoustics were a factor in this performance. The mic appeared to have been turned down, making her sound weak.

If you listen at 3:49 You the sheer power of Whitney she hit the note and hear tone and pitch is awesome. It is very difficult to sing a song that you recording in one range then have to hear the music which is new and breathe and keep time all because DWTS does want to pay the producers and studio royal and backend fees so they simply hire their own band and composer who changes the music from the original so that the DWTS Band can play at a fraction of the cost and not get sued no artist in the history has ever performed to their original musical composition it is always to the DWTS Verison and with Whitney freshly returning she need everything to be fimilar, shame on you Clive Davis for not sparing any expense for the Artist that and was Arista Records you will never have any artist do the things she did and make history like she did. Sing on for the Lord Whitney your true fans will forever love you for you and we prayed for you and accepted the Whitney who came back from fight with life. We love you Whitney E. Houston
