JustTheVoice my dad was a musician, when Whitney Houston came onto the scene he said "this little girl has talent we haven't even begun to see". And he was right. When I Will Always Love You was released he said "Didn't I tell you she was something amazing?". RIH Daddy I hope you get to play for Whitney.

It is a fact that in the beginning Ms Houston's voice was pristine...it could do just about anything. Perfection!!!! But I must say as someone who has been an absolute diehard fan her entire career (I'm 45 so believe me when I say I have been watching and listening from the very beginning), her later performances when her voice was in decline were perhaps some of the most precious for me. She sang with a maturity, a heart and a soul that had lived through many ups and downs...she may not have had the tone, the range, the power or the vocal acrobatics that she had in her prime, but what she had was pure guts and a lived experience that she shared so willingly with the world. At times I felt sad when I would watch her final performances and she wasn't able to reach the high notes....but never once did I come away feeling Ms. Houston hasn't bared her soul with an honesty that only she possessed. This sums up how I felt when I saw her in Melbourne in 2010...no she didn't sound like she did here, but believevmevwhen i say I left that concert knowing her heart...and her soul. Being perfect doesn't always give you that. RIP the greatest singer there ever was and probably will ever be

Cissy Houston was so proud of her baby girl. Whitney and I are a few months apart. I and a late cousin bought Whitney's first record ' You Give Good Love' and on the back of the 45 was ' The Greatest Love of All'. Priceless. Rip 😍😘

You are sooo correct! That performance was so effortless, she might as well have been lip synching!! And that head voice...pure angel. I hope that's what angels sound like when I get to heaven. Thank you for properly recognizing the legend..

Absolutely flawless and boy did she look as gorgeous as she sounded. I cant believe Patti passed on this song, if i remember correctly (she wasn't cool with the message/lyrics), but her loss was Whitney's gain; the song is timeless.

I've had a main diva for every part of my life starting when I was 12 with Donna summer. Olivia Newton-John came after that. And then there was Whitney. Followed by Mariah and then Celine. Celine is closest to my heart but every once in a while when I see Whitney performances like this I feel a little guilty. Love your reactions. You make me smile.
