The thing about Whitney is that, her singing is never about following the melody but being led by the emotion and music. It is like the emotion is commanding her, she feels the music so deeply. Not many have that ability

The GOAT. She just sang from the heart and it was always about the soul. Singers now try to do all this ornamentation with runs etc but Whitney did them off the cuff. Everything is so natural with her, effortless & flawless.

People forget that she never did a same performance twice! She was just talented in that way that she always made it different and exceptional! First song I ever remember and singing to was Whitney's The Greatest Love of All and she will always be a part of my life for that reason. Never be another like her! ❤️

Cliche: I really do not care what people say about this woman, but she was, is and will always be the best voice, male or female, to ever walk the face of this earth. Wish I could see her live and just tell her how much I love her. Second to God she is the very essence of my existence.

@PurelyAfrican- THANK YOU! I think because Whitney was so outstanding, they needed/need someone to compete with her. And Mariah came the closest. But Mariah just isn’t the singer that Whitney was. She never has been. Hard for some to accept.
@Liebell82
@Liebell82 5 жыл бұрын
Craig Furlow how about we just appreciate both their talents and not try to take anything from Mariah? Whitney definitely was the better live singer if we’re being totally honest , but no need to shun and diminish Mariahs talent to fit your narrative.

JustTheVoice Hello my dear I love your reactions. Im 71 years young and i grew up in a singing/musical family, if you didn't play sports you sung or played instruments. I have always said that vocally Whitney is the best; second to no other. She set the bar so high of what a great singer/artist should be not just vocally but as a person, she was such a beautiful spirit. She had a gift and God gave her the best trainer in the world Cissy Houston my my my Cissy is so underrated a singer if you listen to "Be my Baby" you'll hear so many similarities of whitneys voice in hers. She had some of the best singing influences in the world from Aretha, Dionne, Barbra, Roberta, Chaka, and Gladys. Which to me She is the soprano version of Gladys Knight their belting styles are very similar the emotion and passion they put into the lyrics are so similar with their smooth silky tone.. to me those two are the best! I would love to see you react to gladys knight & anita baker as well!! God bless you! i'll be waiting for those reactions haha!

@@eddiemaewilkerson7928 I absolutely loved reading your comments and I think you are spots on she did have an amazing coach and trainer miss Cissy was a force to be reckoned with vocally with that POWER she could project. And all of her influences from Chaka Dione and Gladys, she immolated each of them very well with her own touch. The only thing I always hate listening when she sang with her mother although her mother had an amazing voice her tone it's just not very pretty it's just strong that you cannot deny she taught her daughter how to use every possible area to sing from.. it amazes me to this day God is good .. God bless you @Eddie Mae Wilkerson

Whitney is also my favorite singer of all time. When she passed I cried for days. It all makes sense now because her legacy of music is timeless and forever now! Please review her live versions of "All at Once" on American Music Awards circa 1987 and 10 years later on Italian Show dueting with Italaian singer Gianni Morandi (he literally has to stop singing because he's blown away by her vocal power).

scheckdj My first time seeing her was on BET singing You Give Good Love and I stood up and got so close to the tv my Mom yelled at me. I was in love with her and her voice. When I'm Your Baby Tonight came out I literally ran to get it. The day she died I was on my way to work and I had to pull over. I cried so hard. I called my Mom and she thought I was in an auto accident or in the hospital. I told her Whitney had passed and all she said was "I didn't want to call you. I heard. I'm so sorry baby." I called in sick and listened to her all night and the next day I spent on KZbin looking at her videos. I still cry at some of her performances. She will forever be the greatest female singer of all time. I love you Nippy. The Voice will never be silent.

I'm in love with this Woman's voice, beauty and poise. No one comes even 10% close. Not all 3 combined. Mariahs voice & beauty competes but Whitneys Poise can't be touched. Who else comes close, Celine Deons voice and Poise comes close but not her beauty. Beyonces beauty and poise comes close but Voice doesn't. Whitney was the golden child. Period point blank.

Mariah's voice is at the same level as Whitney, cause Whitney could never sing those exetremely melismatic, range-requiring and full of transitions song of Mariah nor Mariah could sing as powerfully as Whitney. Beyoncè is a better entertainer and Celine... incredible but I can't find things she has better than Whitney.

I love the way you honor and compliment Whitney Houston because she will forever be adored in my ❤️ heart. You really touched me when you said that as a singer you look up to Whitney Houston because most men would fear saying this because of their pride but not you. It reminds me when singer Usher paid tribute to Whitney and he said, "Whitney, you taught me how to sing." Thank you 😊

People compare people to her that can sing higher notes and yadda yadda yadda. But what they don’t realize is that high notes alone is not what makes one a good singer. Whitney’s tone alone, has yet to be matched. Her voice possessed just about everything that a singer could want. Power, beauty, clarity, perfect pitch, etc. She will never be matched. Accept it lol.

I really enjoy watching these reactions....especially from someone who is clearly knowledgable about singing. But I would like to say as someone who knows nothing about singing but who loves Ms. Houston like no other, for me it was and will always be the interpretation of the lyric and powerful expression of emotion or sentiment that sets her apart. Whatever she sang you felt it. I'm sure her tone, head voice, transitions, belts, inflections, melisma, runs, riffs and the timing of all of these etc etc etc all played a part in feeling that emotion. But for those of us who are your everyday music lover, all we know is how we feel when we hear the song. I followed Ms. Houston from the very beginning to the very end ...I am 45 years old! I saw her live at her best (in 1988) and in 2010 when the voice was in decline. But even then it was the emotion that came through...just as powerfully as in the beginning. There are many great singers the world has seen....but in my humble opinion Ms. Houston's voice was golden....blessed and anointed...unparalleled....uniquely her. Sir I think I understand what you mean when you refer to her tone....because that's what we hear....and that's what we feel. Love these videos and love the memories Ms. Houston xxx
