The greatest female vocalist to stand before a microphone! I was at this concert in 1993. It was my 18th birthday on July 20th and my parents surprised me with tickets. I’ve been to 3 Whitney houston shows and this particular concert just still gives me chills. Her voice was on fire this night.

U have no idea how I envy you and every single person that went to this precise concert. I always say the things her throat did that very day, no Celine, no Mariah no Prince no MJ nor Bey showmanship no Bach or Beethoven symphonies will NEVER EVER EVER . That day was the ABSOLUTE WONDER MUSIC COULD EVER HAVE . Hands down 😔....I wonder what was the talk on your way back home 🙄

@@rigust12 Aww! I was incredibly blessed to witness this live. It was a surreal moment for me. Just no one like this woman. Her presence was magnetic, commanding the attention of every single person in the audience. With each song she sang, she transported us into a world where her voice was the sole inhabitant, where her notes were the threads weaving together a tapestry of memories, emotions, and shared experiences. We knew we had witnessed something extraordinary, a masterful display of talent that left us both inspired and humbled. We were all smiles on the subway ride Still one of the greatest nights of my life and I have Whitney Houston to thank for that.

I was also 18 but it wasn’t my birthday and my mom and step dad got me tickets to that show in NYC at Radio City it was magical! I’m 48 now and will never forget that warm summer night! I was changed and inspired! There was something so down to earth about her that night also! ❤

This was in July 23, 1993, she had just given birth March 4, 1993 4 months prior. Her voice had “darkened” after given birth. Her lower register had increased in range and support.

@@b2j924 But the crazy part is she still had the upper register she never lost an inch of range. Her timbre was slightly darker and that's it. Argentina 1994 she had her normal lyric tone and Chile as well.

whitney's lower register is criminally underrated fr. from 97-00, her lower register was extremely supported and she even hit a Bb2 in stuttgart 1999 singing IWALY.

She could much lower and higher than we even think she could. Dionne Warwick said in 80's Whitney had an effortless 5 octave range. Eg. Japan 1990 one night in SAMFLY she hit an F7# out of nowhere. Dionne said that for reason because all of her range top to bottom is well supported. Nippy did what she wanted vocally most her career.

was this in radio city? her power there was insane, but what's remarkable about this night was how healthy she sounded. her voice was agile, and her register shifts, seamless and fluid. this was supposed to be the voice she had carried throughout her 30s and 40s (and 50s if she hadn't passed away too soon), if she remained healthy.

This was also when she first did and I am telling you I'm not going, I love you Porgy, and goes right into I have nothing, way before she did it and 94 on the amas so I'm wondering can anybody tell me what the name of the City, the concert, so that I could watch the entire so, I know that this is the one, I know that this is the concert, that Cissy Houston was referring to, when she wrote the book after Whitney passed away, and she was explaining that because Whitney was very hoarse, they didn't think she was going to be able to perform, butt, Whitney's voice was gone, and to barely talk, but she refused to cancel the gig, because the band would not get paid, and she said mom those people have families to feed, and they're able to perform time, it's just me, and I can't let them down, so she refused to cancel, however when the promoter saw her that she could not barely talk, they wanted her to use a safety tape oh, that's something that they usually have you record, before in case an emergency happens like that, basically you know how they say some people only lip-sync, mostly the people that put on shows like Janet Jackson, where is very hard to staying alive, when you are dancing entire two hours, but so that it sounds live, not just like they're playing your CD, you actually go in and re-recorded, the day before, and have your band rehearsed to it so it sounds so live, but when it came to that, she absolutely hated that, she only sang Live, (they had her record a safety tape for the national anthem, in 1991, and even though her voice was just fine, she was ready to sing live, they told her oh no, no one sings the national anthem live, it's absolutely too important, with all of America watching, it's a heart song 16, and it just cannot be messed up, or we can not have a slip-up during a live singing, so everyone that sings it, singalong to the safety take, that's just how we do it her father went in and tell them, if that's how you do it, then just play the tape, but Whitney won't be there, we're going home, if you want her she is singing It live, or not at all, and needless to say, we all know who won, and it made history) because she couldn't lip sync, like she literally did not know how to do it, and then the tape messed up, and she ended up having to sing live anyway, and Cissy talked about how her brother Michael, was so amazed, and couldn't believe, how good she still performed, she couldn't even talk, and still brought the house down, he said oh, wow, she was a little horse, while singing, but again, she couldn't talk at all, which was the reason why the promoter made her do the safety tape, because they had to save their investment, in the concert, and she still live, and brought the house down Mama, but I don't remember in the book Cissy Houston talking about what city it was in, but I wanted to say LA
