I have always said that Whitney absorbed the gospel of Cissy, the soul of Aretha, the pop of Dionne and Barbra ‘s versatility; you notice a lot of Dionne’s influences to how Whitney would inflect certain notes or words for effect.

When Dionne dropped her first single in 1962, her last name was misspelled as Warwick instead of Warrick. She decided to keep Dionne Warwick as her stage name. That would be good for you as I mentioned before. Trust and believe!! Whitney patterned herself after Ms. Dionne. Its the other way around bro and Luther will tell you he learned plenty from Dionne as well. It is known that Dionne is his favorite singer. Check out the vids "Dionne vs Whitney belts" and "dionne warwick 1982 after you/I'll Never Love this Way Again" Better yet also check out her duet song with Luther" How many times can we say good by" the vid where Dionne wearing a red dress.
