I have always said that Whitney absorbed the gospel of Cissy, the soul of Aretha, the pop of Dionne and Barbra ‘s versatility; you notice a lot of Dionne’s influences to how Whitney would inflect certain notes or words for effect.

Whitney Houston and Dionne Warwick are both members of the musically inclined Drinkard family. Nitch Drinkard married Delia McCaskill and had eight children. The second oldest of the Drinkard children was Lee. She married Mancel Warrick. They had three children: Delia (named after the grandmother), Mancel Jr. and Dionne. When Dionne dropped her first single in 1962, her last name was misspelled as Warwick instead of Warrick. She decided to keep Dionne Warwick as her stage name. They youngest of the Drinkard children was Emily, who went by the nickname "Cissy." Cissy married John Houston. Cissy and John had three children. Great reaction video! This is one of my favorite performances EVER! Your mother has great taste because Stevie Wonder is also my favorite male artist followed by Luther Vandross. Then everybody knows that Mariah and Whitney are by far my top two favorite female artists. Nobody comes close to these two. I love Dionne's voice. I can recognize her tone anywhere! So distinct, so clear, so pure, so touching, so gentle... This performance is everything and I love going back to it every now and then.

That would be good for you as I mentioned before. Trust and believe!! Whitney patterned herself after Ms. Dionne. Its the other way around bro and Luther will tell you he learned plenty from Dionne as well. It is known that Dionne is his favorite singer. Check out the vids "Dionne vs Whitney belts" and "dionne warwick 1982 after you/I'll Never Love this Way Again" Better yet also check out her duet song with Luther" How many times can we say good by" the vid where Dionne wearing a red dress.
