Loni made a bitchy dig at her marrying a white man over Tamera's idiocy at asking if her black ancestors had been enslaved and transported to the Caribbean. Equally stupid. _Unlike Black Americans or non-White hispanics (and the whites too) who are sometimes threatened and in the past lynched_ See, that won't hold water. No black today knows what it is like "to be lynched". It's simply an excuse for a double standard. How long will the slavery card be played? 500 more years?

it's very frustrating that people aren't taught that slaves were also brought to the Caribbean, Central and South America.
@mav3ric1008 жыл бұрын
+5chocolatedragon Nah they teach this in schools in the US, but obviously they didn't pick this up since no one really remembers everything from history classes (just select things and the select things one remembers from history classes differs from person to person lol) unless you major in history or something. I bet if you ask any of them that were also part from "Ivory Coast" they would tell you they've never heard of that country, hence why they were just screaming "gasp....Ghana!" cuz that's probably one popular African country talked about most often from the African continent (just like South Africa, Senegal, etc...) Even though Ivory Coast is another great and beuatiful african country.

Why does it have to be "reduced" as if being black identified is a downgrade? Hypodescent also plays a role in why mixed race people (African Americans) are referred to as only black. You are what the minority is. On a genetic level most AA's are multiracial. On a social level? Not so much. It's even a taboo to mention mixed ancestry in the black community, you're labelled a self hater.

This was a cute moment with Tamera. And it is interesting that Tamera is more white than black.
@ImJerkBoii8 жыл бұрын
+MsBrooklyn11232 Mathematically, she would have to be. Most white Americans ( her dad ) are 100% European while most black Americans are some percent European because of slavery and/or past biracial relationships. It would come to reason that she would have more European ancestry than black. Most mixed black/white individuals usually will.
@MsBrooklyn112328 жыл бұрын
Lord Nick Yes I was thinking about that, makes sense.
@979akkipuden8 жыл бұрын
+Lord Nick actually since humans came from Africa and migrated to Europe that would mean everyone on the planet would be at least a tad bit African and then their ancestors migrated to Europe and then Asia and Australia and then the americas so everyone is a little African even if technology can't see it cuz we not advanced enough yet
@ImJerkBoii8 жыл бұрын
Delmar Sanders Yes. Buts its a VERY minuscule percentage. Literally like .2% African ancestry present in the average European American. Half of that (from Tamera's father) is just .1%. Meaning he contributed .1% to the 43% of her African ancestry. If you want to be technical though, every human in existence is 100% African.

Tamera's response to her results was so heart warming...it brought tears to my eyes.
@erica-bm1ke8 жыл бұрын
I'm really surprised that Tamera was unaware that her ancestors were slaves and taken from western africa. I feel like every black american should know that. if you dont know which part of africa your ancestors came from you can assume they were slaves. Shes well into her 30's...
@brieoliver8 жыл бұрын
elisha b It's one thing to read it in a history book. It's another thing entirely to be confronted with actual DNA proof that YOU and your very existence and being is linked to that history. So much so that you can pinpoint where your ancestors were taken from and by whom. That's emotional. Try not to judge. Many in this country will never bother to look into their own history in this regard.
@erica-bm1ke8 жыл бұрын
Briana Oliver im not judging, she didnt even read it in books, she didnt know at all. if you listen she says she didnt know how they got to the bahamas. The Caribbean was a major stop in the transatlantic slave trade. I was making an observation. When i have the money to get a DNA test this specific i will do so, but at 22 I at least know about the transatlantic slave trade and its relation to black americans.
@brieoliver8 жыл бұрын
You are judging because no where did she say she didn't read it in books. You made your own assumption with that. Clearly she does have some information if she knew A) Her family is from the Bahamas and B) it was ruled by the Brits for some time. Where do you suppose she got all of that? It certainly isn't knowledge you're born with lol. Good for you. But not everyone knows what you know.
@erica-bm1ke8 жыл бұрын
Briana Oliver again, not judging, just paying attention. Which is more than i can say for you. Unlike you, i actually watched her reality show and they did a DNA test and it only went as far back as the bahamas and then she found her family and talked to them. so nope, no reading. How about you dismiss yourself now. Thanks.
@brieoliver8 жыл бұрын
Yes...judging. It is impossible to "pay attention" to information you couldn't possibly know unless she told you herself. There you go judging again. I watched her reality show too and saw her, Tia, and Jerome travel there to meet relatives they didnt know they had. No where in that did either of them say they never learned about the slave trade in school. That's your assumption based on an experience that isnt even yours to judge. You yourself dont even know where you come from so how dare you talk about someone else's journey in discovering who they are?

I found it funny when Tamera started cry😂😂. Her emotional state made her asked foolish questions also. But she was emotional, I believe, due to the fact that the information provided her with closure, closure to things she wanted to know and couldn't find out since she tried to, based on her reality show. But it's still funny tho 😩😩😩

after watching this video for almost three times, I realized how lucky am I to know where I am from precisely. I was raised in Cape Town, South Africa but now I am currently living in France. I am from the Republic Democratic of Congo, i was born in Lubumbashi (in the very south of Congo ) but both of my parents are born and raised in Maniyema, but moved to Lubumbashi because my grandparents were rich and that's were business was booking back in the day. they only have percentages but I know we're I am from. don't take anything for granted and don't be ashamed of being who you are because others don't know anything about their ancestors.
@Talldoll18 жыл бұрын
+Sheda Benita I can't speak for anyone else, but this is definitely the story of Black Americans... we don't know exactly where we came from. It comes up a lot here because everyone's ancestors came from somewhere (since none of us are natives to the land) and everyone is so proud and all we can say is.. um, Africa? It's so uncomfortable for us. One part of my family has a Facebook group and someone knows some serious history. Someone was able to trace back who our slave owner was, where our family lived and worked as slaves

My dna test was very emotional for me. My dad is Africa America and my mom is Korean. So I had what my dad had but there was something not from him so it had to be from my mom.She thought she was just Korean. It was surprising because my mom never new about her self because she was born in Korea and was adopted by my grandparents. My mom’s mom died soon after so she left her sister and her brother and came here not knowing about her self. Any way my dna matched with someone who was my moms cousin. Both of them had similar stories. So I was happy my mom had found someone from her family. My mom was so grateful to find someone and for my grandparents because she could have died but they did so much to help her and if the didn’t I wouldn’t be here today. Also it wasn’t so sad because I found some really cool stuff about me and I was a lottttttttt.
