I can only speak for Puerto Ricans. We are very knowledgeable about our racial history. Every Puerto Rican I know acknowledges that we are descendants of slaves. What we don’t like is to be compared to Black Americans. Which is completely different. We are not rejecting our melanin. We are denying any comparison with African Americans, simply because of culture. It’s the same when some A.A. folks don’t want to be mistaken for Haitian. Some even get highly offended if you tell an African American their Haitian.
@nehsangbong7259
@nehsangbong7259 Жыл бұрын
@@aishariel9924 I've come across and many PR's, Mexicans and people from the DR etc who are very anti black. I definitely did not say ALL Puerto Ricans who have melanin ancestry deny it. Matter of fact, most of my non black latino friends are PR and love black people. I'm just talking from experience of a certain group of individuals. Not a whole group or culture. And I get what you mean by not being lumped with a certain group. There's a difference between African Americans, Haitian Americans, Sub-Saharan African Americans etc. I'm Sub-Saharan African American of Cameroon origin and I've been mistaken for Haitian, Jamaican, etc. A black Puerto Rican is not African American. They are Puerto Rican. Afro Latino. So I get it. There's a difference between race and ethnicity.

I remember finding out my DNA from my great grandmother on my mom's side is a culmination of southern, western and east African which came from the slave trade and mixed with a south American native and worked it's way down to my great grandma. She was a very dark Latina even being fresh out of Mexico it was strange because her husband my great grandfather was also Mexican and native Cherokee. His mother was born into the Cherokee tribe that soon found themselves being separated and she met her husband in Texas. So long story short he was more lighter skinned but not by too much lol. But it's funny when I tell people about this because seeing me you couldn't tell as my tan is visible but I am considered a white man. Happens when 2 generations decide its time to go mingle with the white folk

OMG, this ancestry DNA stuff is quite fascinating! I want to do it! I want to know where my DNA comes from. Some people have told me I look Italian, perhaps I have some of that in me. I LOVE Italy. 🇮🇹

Native American, because Puerto Rico is considered American because it’s American territory. I hope she knows that now 😀

No, when you’re talking about genetic makeup it is the original race of the people. She had legit Native American blood in her. It’s not just “oh they were Puerto Rican but that counts as America.” That’s not how DNA works.

@@Antibeautyguru There is no other race. It's ethnicity. WHY take DNA tests to then be RACIST? Glad I don't watch this drivel show. Their attitudes are racist and ignorant. Sad.

Yup, Latinos are European.. Actually most Latinos have majority European blood in them….But ….”Mexicans” are more native Indian, but like “puerto Rican’s, Cubans, Argentina, etc are white as hell because they have majority of European blood in them

Me being Native American, that makes sense why a lot of Natives have Mexican friends from what I've seen. There are some Natives who have friends from other Hispanic groups but it's mostly Mexicans. True about Latinos having European blood. I've met a Latino that was literally half Italian and Irish. Even Republican senator Tom Cruz is Cuban but dna he's Irish/Italian/and Spaniard.
