Who Are God's Chosen People?

From Genesis 12 through the book of Revelation, we find the story of God developing a people for Himself. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses the people of God, who they are, and how and why we want to be counted amongst them. In Genesis 17:7, God established His covenant with Abraham, telling him, "I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you." That covenant applies to the Jewish people-and its promises extend to us, through our faith in Jesus.

Revelation 2:9 and 3:9 are speaking of those who claim to be Jews but are not and are of the synagogue of Satan. These are the Kenites. The offspring of Cain. They began to hang with the Jews for protection and were keeping books for the tribe of Judah way after Noah's flood in I Chronicles 2:55. The scriptures in Revelation chapters 2 and 3 are referring to the offspring of Cain. Cain was the son of Satan the serpent and Eve, Adam is not Cain's father. Bad teaching there Im afraid. God is no respector of man actually (i.e. he isnt into partiality) No curses for sin carries on to a full fledged believer in the finished grace provision from the Cross of Christ .. the debts been paid in full by Him, and He has done it availing salvation to ALL races! It was for all humanity. I think his point was that Jesus is the only way how we all qualify to be God's chosen people.. if indeed we worship God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. So on that basis, I dont hear this as preaching anything hateful. In terms of a salvation gospel under grace or law, my stance is the old covenant law (of sin and death) had its merit in revealing and convicting of sins, but now that it is passed, the spiritually minded born again christians have moved under the law of Life in Christ Jesus. Those saved unto Him are no longer under condemnation and the law of sin and death. I dont think people of God should have so much a problem with His just laws (Justice is one of God's attributes. Even Jesus obeyed the old testament laws that uphold that in His own conduct). If say they focus on the harshness of the penalties instead, to distance from, and other ceremonial cleanliness things to keep at that time, that is all fine But Only Because JESUS has paid it all. Taken the penalty of death (God's judgement) over all our shortcoming sins. So the old covenant of that law keeping commands for blessings or curses just goes to show the gravity of how the wages of sin is death! That is the only relevance of that so there is nothing to debate. Holy GOD looks upon Sin and Uncleanness /Unholiness that seriously. Yes. And how even a touch of blemish in the flock can wreck the whole batch so to speak. Yes. Now certainly the ceremonial and punishment laws are no longer precisely relevant for our application. Again, to recap, God had piled all our guilt on Jesus' account, sacrificing His Beloved Son out of love for us too. How amazing that great exchange. Redemption's path back to how it was meant to be all along, peace and harmony with our Creator/Father and beloved Jesus, And now all we His people have to do is to daily confess any wrongdoings to Him and truly repent/turn back to His holy righteous ways by running to Him for the renewal and strength. As many times we fall, we get up. Then, absolutely NO fear of curses for any failings already cleared with Him from within. Even our conscience would not condemn us. So these things are sound biblical good practice.. It would help us in a walk that remains abiding identified In Christ, and having His Word abide with us. God bless you too.

Just qualifying with the Word of God, obedience to God's ways / Jesus's commands pleases Him so if we love Him we keep His commands (within the framework that in this church age, as apostle Paul explained, we are no longer "under the old testament laws" in terms of law keeping measures for closing the gap between us and God.. e.g. No less perfect sacrifcial substitute is required to approach Him now given the Lamb of God, Jesus who atoned for our sins, clothing us by His blood for salvation. Also, Christ Jesus taught that the Kingdom of God is Not about customs and regulations, eating and drinking; Not in the observance of feasts and festivals, but about love, peace, and joy In the Holy Spirit. And He came to bring us into that Kingdom Life as He emptied out at the cross, surrending of the Holy Spirit back to the Father in heaven -- the Same Spirit of whom He then sent down as our Helper/Comforter to live within every believer who chooses to put faith in the Lord Jesus. For their spiritual regeneration. Yes all our works in any tedious law keeping now doesn't compare to that great finished work of the Lord. Salvation is of the Lord and is not earned that any may boast in. However I believe we can still relate to some precious gems from old testament writings, such as in praising the Lord as King David did "How Wonderful are Your Commands and Statutes oh Lord! Wonderful are Your ways! I love to keep them for they are pure and perfect.. restoring the soul." And "How great the testimonies concerning You, oh Lord, are sure; they are as health to the bones, nourishment for the body".. So, we can take it from there we are to see value in the whole bible, reading the old covenant testament from the lense of new covenant grace. (David himself found insight of this as the Lord showed Himself to him, and so this becomes a classic example of such beautiful meeting of grace and law on balance I feel).

No one asks what were the Hebrews chosen to do? Reading the Holiness Code (Theophany on Mt. Sina through the Levitikon), which is mainly about genetic purity, one realizes that they were chosen to produce the most pure woman to bear Immanuel (God in the flesh). Having accomplished that 2,000 years ago, there is no need for them to still be chosen. In fact, they should have been assimilated by now.

You can't stop there and say nothing else matters, that is like saying you don't need to study the word anymore all you need to do is believe. Pastor Allen, God chooses people to become His people. People do not have the perogative to choose God to be their God. So, how does one become among God's chosen people? By obeying Him, by faithfully following and obeying Jesus whom God sent! Indeed, Jesus says: "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me." And so Jesus instructs: Come, be my disciple, carry your own cross daily, die to your sinful nature, and I will take away your sins by my shed blood. Yet Pastor, Christian churches teach: Believe that salvation is free and by faith alone, for God loves you so much as to give Jesus as a human sacrifice in order to appease Himself of your sins! So, there's a problem! The church had allowed the devil to supplant Jesus’s teachings with that of Paul. God spoke from Heaven to publicly acknowledge Jesus as His Son, saying to everyone to listen to him. Neither God or Jesus ever said a word about Paul. Instead, Paul acknowledges himself as an apostle appointed by God. So Pastor, do you still believe you are among God’s chosen people, or are you an accomplice with Paul teaching what is not Jesus’s or God's.
