I love seeing the facial compositions of Gelfling that have been used in other characters such as Goblins in Labyrinth and Death in The Storyteller. The Jim Henson company is just magnificent and I'm forever grateful for all they give to us!

the modern geflings puppets also have so much more facial articulation that it notice how more expressive they are, to the point the original movie now looks really dated jut by puppets. I still prefer this to cgi monsters that dominate the scene these days, as the puppets react to real world lighting.

If I had to pick a Gelfling clan to join, it's a toss up between Drenchen and Dousan. Drenchen, because I LOVE the idea of living in water, swimming with my wings and having braids in my hair all day everyday! I fell in love the Drenchen Maudra when I first saw her stand against the Skeksis with Stonewood Maudra! or Dousan, because they're isolated, look onto the afterlife, and their unique skin and designs. I thought were beautifully different~ (I'd kill for a Dark Crystal game modeled after Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. CRAFT your own Gelfling and play your character!)

Florence Okoye yeah for all we know the two we see in the original movie are just the two survivors of their clan and from the main part of the continent closest to the castle of the crystal. It would be hard for the Skeksis and the Garthim I would think to fight a prolonged war of resistance in these fringe clan strongholds especially given the overwhelming number of fighters. Why else would there be so few Skeksis left who stay only within the castle walls for the most part and are visibly weak and starved of essence at this point and the Garthim are so few in number in the movies timeline. It seems like the resistance has been fighting an uphill war of attrition to bleed out the skeksis and garthim though its not shown prominently.

Who's to say the Crystal of Truth couldn't nip the inbreeding thing in the bud by inserting more genetic diversity into Jen and Kira's children? I just like the fact that all seven clans feel really well thought out, with different values, traditions, appearances, and day-to-day lifestyles. Each clan brings something to the table and none feels redundant; you can FEEL the history in it all. That's a sign of great writing and world building. I'm rewatching season one right now and I desperately hope there'll be a second season. The thought of that wonderful work not being tapped for all its potential... I would be very sad if that happens.

I think Brea is Kira’s mother. Brea appeared to be running with a baby like what Kira was showing Jen in the 1982 movie. That being said, since Deet has gone off on her own, I am wondering if Hup might form a friendship with Brea that causes him to adopt Kira with a Podling wife (Kira’s “new mom”) after Brea is killed.

i think kira is a grotten or somehow related to deet because they both love podlings and have that special connection to the creatures of thra. It also seems that Tavra owned the fizzgig (who mourned when she passed in battle) that Kira has later which could mean that kira is a descendant of either Seladon or Brea and is Vapran. Jen i believe may be a forrest dweller or the fighting clan based on coloring. I’m leaning more towards forrest dwelling because of how he loves to play his instrument which can be a part of tradition in thra, because the stonewood is one of the oldest clans.

The Skeksis divided the tribe of Gelflings to spread distrust and racism despite the fact the Gelfling are all one people (like us!) The Gelfling quickly adapt to the environment they're given; the Grottans are capable of hearing the smallest sound within the caves, while their eyes are larger than any other clan. The Dousan have gills and are the best swimmers. The Vaprans can turn themselves invisible due to the fact they live high in the mountains without much cover! It's pretty cool! ^^

Being a stocky guy and having dreadlocks already, as well as the fact that Maudra Laesid stood by Maudra Fara's side against Seladon, I'd have to pick Drenchen. I'm not a fan of the sun(s), and it would be great to live for more Trine than normal, so Grottan would be a close second. Though, I think all of the clans have great things about them. I really appreciate that the Sifa are culturally diverse, but I did read that some practiced slavery. Don't forget, that's who Chamberlain got those Gruenak for Scientist from.

Anyone know which clan Tolin could have been from?? He was the gelfling that Ordon left in charge and he was also the one who betrayed his fellow gelflings because he warned the skeksis of the soldiers revolt. Did not upset me to see him get drained for that act of betrayal!!!

Kylan almost drowned in the second book, but it shows how brave he really is!! He doesn’t appear to be brave but in the books and in the last episode his bravery really shines through unlike his fellow Spriton Tolin who betrayed his fellow gelflings!! Anyone have a clue on why Tolin is so dark even though he is clearly a Spriton

I was wondering for rian and most stonewood, is their colorful foreheads a genetic triat? Or a cultural design they apply to thier skin? I know it methioned eyeshadow was applied, but was wondering if that goes same for thier foreheads

I think the Dousan could be inspired by the Fremen from Frank Herbert’s Dune novels. An isolated dessert tribe obsessed with death and natural law...somehow I don’t believe in coincidences.

Jen is definitely Rian's son. They have the same blue color in dark brown hair, and Jen have all the characteristics of a Stonewood gelfling. I am not sure about Kira thou. One part of her is surely Vapra, judging by the white/blonde hair and skin. But I can't tell if she could be Brea or Seladon's daughter.

You're a bit wrong from the start. There is only ONE "All-Mahdra" - each clan has one Mahdra, and the ALL- Mahdra is the elected leader of all of them, thus the "ALL" The Sifa give me hope of a "Gray Havens" ending for the series. We can hope that at least some Gelflings escape across the sea, leaving only a few Gelflings behind (the infant Jen and Kira, notably)

thats funny because in some aspects Dousan and Sifa are almost opposites. For example, a Dousan isn't allowed to be in a relationship with someone from another clan, but the Sifa are the only clan that lets you join them
